This description covers a white tubular braided cotton lace us

2、ed as a closure for leggings worn by Navy personnel. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Laces. The laces shall be 100% cotton, bleached white, tubular braided round-dXhout a core, tipped on one end. The laces shall be 30 to 31 inches long, 5/64 to 7/64 inch in diameter, and weight 21-24 ounces per gross

3、 The breaking strength shall be a minim of 70 pounds, when tested according to Test Method 7102 of FED-STD-191. The lace shall be smoothly finished and polished. The starch and protein content including chloroform soluble and water soluble material of the finished laces, shall not exceed 7.0%, when

4、 tested according to Test Method 2611 of FED-STD-191. 2.2 Lace tip. The lace tip shall be a transparent and colorless cellulose acetate or cellulose butyrate sheeting, with a thickness of not less than 0.0010 inch nor more than 0.013 inch. The tip shall be firmly attached and secured having a minimu

5、m gripping strength of 18 pounds. The end of the tip and braid shall be evenly aligned. The tip shll finish 3/4 (+1/16) - inch in length. During the solicitation phase, interested firms shall provide the procuring agency

8、with four product demonstration models (two pairs) of the item they propose to furnish for evaluation. The two pairs provided by the successful offerer shall be tagged and sealed. One shall be retained by the Procuring Agency and the other furnished the assigned Quality Assurance Representative (QAR

9、) for use as a reference in performing the examination in paragraph 3.2 and the scoring of defects in design, material, and workmanship not otherwise classified herein. 3. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 3.1 Certification. When requested by the Contracting Office, the contractor shall certify and maint

10、ain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description (CID), and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof

11、 of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 3.2 Examination of the end item. The laces shall be inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105. Defects found during the examination of the end item shall be classified as

12、 below. The inspection level shall be I and the AQL shall be 2.5 defects per 100 units. The lot size shall be expressed in units of pairs. 17、ch or more than 13/16 inch III. GENERAL a. Any defect not otherwise classified herein but at variance with the product demonstration model IV. DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY a. Not fabricated in accordance with the product demonstration model 4. PACKAGING 4.1 Preservation. Fifty (50) pairs of laces shall be bu

18、ndled and securely tied. Each bundle of laces shall be wrapped with any suitable commercial grade kraft paper, secured with gummed paper tape. As an alternate, each bundle of laces shall be inserted into a clear polyetheylene film bag. The final closure of the bag shall be heat sealed close to the o

19、pen end and have a 1/4 inch diameter hole at one corner. As an alternate, the closure on the bag may be a wire twist tie. 4.2 Packin . Five hundred (500) pairs of laces shall be packed in a fiber d ar shipping container conforming to class weather-resistant, type CF, grade V15c, size 1A of MIL-B-177

20、57. The container shall have a liner conforming to type CF, class domestic of MIL-B-17757. The container shall have the contents completely covered on the top and bottom with a sheet of commercial grade kraft paper. 4.3 Marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 4.4 Palletization. Lac

21、es packed as specified shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type 1A of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded in accordance with the bonding methods C and D or film bonding F or G. Pallet pattern shall be in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147. The pal

22、let shall be 4-way, type IV; type V, class 1, size 2; or type VIII, fabricated from wood group I, II, III, or IV, grade A of NN-P-71, or 4-way style 1, size A, type I, class 1 fabricated from wood groups specified of MIL-P-15011. Interlocking of loads shall be effected by reversing the pattern of ea

23、ch course. If the container is of a size which does not conform to any of the patterns specified in MIL-STD-147, the pallet pattern used shall be approved by the contracting officer. 5.
