SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) co

2、vers plastic pails used for carrying liquid and dry material. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The pails covered by this CID are classified by the following sizes and styles as specified (see 7.2): SIZES Size 1 - 5 pint (2.4 litre (L). Size 2 - 5 quart (4.7 L). Size 3 - 10 quart (9.5 L). Size 4 - 12 quart (1 1.4

3、L). STYLES Style A - Galvanized steel bail. Style B - Rubber or plastic coated steel bail. The pails shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this CID and shall be the manufacturers standard commercial product. Additional or better features which are not specifically prohib

6、ited by this CID but which are a part of the manufacturers standard commercial product, shall be included in the pails being furnished. A standard commercial product is a product which has been sold or is being sold or is being currently offered for sale on the commercial market through advertisemen

7、ts or manufacturers catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model. 3.2 Design and construction. . 3.2.1 Pail bodies. The pail shall be constructed from polyethylene. The bottom, side, and top rim of the pail shall be an integral unit and shall be impervious to calcium hypochlori

8、te. The color of the body shall be at the manufacturers option, however, yellow shall not be permitted. The top rim of the pail shall be curled outward and down the side of the pail and may be reinforced with wire. The size 1 pail may be unished with or without a reinforcing rim. Two diametrically o

9、pposite bail ears shall be molded into the rim. The size 4 pail shall be provided with a pouring lip. At the option of the manufacturer, size 3 pails may have a pouring lip. The pail shall be fiee of fins, sharp edges, mold marks, lumps or included foreign matter. 3.2.1.1 Graduation markings. The si

10、ze 1 pail shall have 1 .O pint f 0.8 ounce (oz) (0.473 L k 24.0 millilitre (mL) graduations. The size 2,3, and 4 pails shall have 1.0 quart k 1.6 oz (0.95 L f 47.3 mL) graduations. 3.2.2. Bails. The bail for the size 4 style B pail shall be a rubber or plastic coated bail. A plastic handle on the ba

11、il providing a comfortable grip is acceptable. 3.3 Diametrical deflections. Diametrical deflections are not applicable to the size 1 pail. The bail shall not become detached and the diametrical deflections of the fblly loaded pail shall be as follows: Size 2: Not greater than 1.50 inches (38.0 mm).

12、Size 3: Not greater than 1.875 inches (47.6 mm). Size 4: Not greater than 2.0 inches (50.8 mm). 3.4 Markines. Each pail shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturers name, trade name, or trademark. Markings secured to the pail with adhesives shall be acceptable. 4. REGULATORY REQUIR

13、EMENTS. 4.1 Materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Unless otherwise specified herein, all equipment, material, and articles incorporated in the work

15、nded use. The term “recovered materials” means materials which have been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. Unless otherwise specified, none of the above shall be interpreted to mean that the use of used or

16、 rebuilt products are allowed under this commercial item description. 4.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained

17、in the latest version of ASTM SI-10 (IEEEIASTM SI-10) and all other requirements of this commercial item description including form, fit and function are met. Ea product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request shoul

18、d be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item

19、 description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 6. PACKAGING. The preservation, packing, and mar

20、king shall be as specified in the contract or order. 7.
