SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers requirements of a transistorized radio frequency (r-f.) amplifier used in shipboard standard-fre
2、quency distribution systems. Amplifier channels are provided for 5 megacycles (mc.), 1 mc. and 100 kilocycles (kc.) signals. Power gain and isolation between channels are provided. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 0.75 .- 3.1 Qualification.- The equipment furnished under this specification shall be a product which has been tested, and passed the qualification tests specified herein, and has been listed on or approved for listing on the applicable qualified products list. except as ot
11、herwise specified herein. 3.2 General requirements.- The equipment shall be in accordance with all provisions of MIL-E-16400, 3.2.1 Reliability.- The following is an outline of the general reliability requirements specified in MIL- r E-16400 as it is applicable to this equipment. 3.2.1.1 -.- The rel
12、iability goal for this equipment shall be 10,000 hours mean-time-between-failure 3.2.1.2 Reliability evaluation shall be performed in accordance with the procedures for Weliability As- 3.2.1.3 Testing.- For test purposes, demonstration of attainment of a reliability level of 300 hours (MTBF). suranc
13、e by Analysis and Prediction“ as specified in MIL-R-22732. MTBF with a 90 percent confidence level will be required. (See 4.1.3) be submitted whenever the design changes or additional design data becomes available affecting the prediction. 3.2.1.4 In addition to the regular reliability reports of MI
14、L-R-22732, reliability prediction reports shall 3.3 Mechanical design.- 3.3.1 Modular construction.- The equipment shall be designed for modular construction in accordance with MIL-STD-736, except that test points and test features are not required. Twelve amplifier channels shall be provided, each
15、channel consisting of one modular assembly with its input and output connections. Module size shall be in accordance with table I. The equipment power supply may be mounted directly to the chassis, or it may be partially or wholly contained in plug-in assemblies. Table I - Assembly size. Inches 2 3.
16、3.2 Channel frequency selection.- The 12 channefk to be provided shall be arranged SO that any of the channels can serve any of 3 frequencies, 5 mc, 1 mc. and 100 kc. Individual assemblies shall be designed for operation at one of these frequencies. Frequency service for a given channel shall be sel
17、ected by inserting an amplifier assembly of the desired frequency. No switching or wiring changes shall be required to select a channel frequency. The equipment shall be capable of use with any number of assemblies from O to 12 plugged in, with normal operation on the channels in use. each of the 3
18、frequencies, unless otherwise specified in the contract or order. Input characteristics shall be such that any number of assemblies from O to 12 may be plugged in to serve any of the 3 frequencies. 3.3.3 Number and frequency of channels.- The equipment shall be supplied with 4 assemblies serving - P
19、rovided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.3.4 Connectors.- 3.3.4.1 Assembly connectors.- Requirements of MIL-STD-736 apply, except that power and signal input and output connections shall be made thru the same connector for each assembly. Inpu
20、t No. 1 shall be consid- ered 5 mc. input, likewise No. 2 shall be 1 mc., and No. 3 shall be 100 kc. Outputs from all assemblies shall be connected thru pins identified with output No. 1. 3.3.4.2 Chassis connectors.- Signal input and output connectors type UG-625 B/U, in accordance with REA49028 sha
21、ll be located at the rear of the equipment. One input connector shall be for each of the 3 fre- quencies. Connection shall be made to furnish input signals of the 3 frequencies to the appropriate pins on all chassis receptacles. One output connector shall be provided for each amplifier assembly, and
22、 shall be con- nected to one assembly only. or output, and the frequency served. Output connectors shall be numbered from 1 thru 12. Each connector shall be conveniently identified to the assembly it is serving. 3.3.4.3 Connector identification.- All signal connectors on the chassis shall be marked
23、to indicate input 3.3.5 Enclosure and mounting.- The equipment shall be capable of 19-inch rack mounting and separate shelf mounting. The outer enclosures shall be dripproof in accordance with MIL-STD-108, and may be remov- able for rack mounting of the equipment. Drawer slides shall be provided for
24、 withdrawing the chassis from the enclosure or rack. 3.3.6 e.- The total enclosed volume shall not exceed one-third cubic foot. Limiting dimensions for rack mounting shall be as specified in MIL-STD-189. The overall dimensions of the equipment with outer en- closure shall not exceed the dimensions s
25、hown in table II. 26、emoval of other parts or wiring, Chassis withdrawal and access to all parts and assemblies shall be from the front of the equipment. 3.3.9 Temperature class.- The equipment shall meet the class 4 temperature requirements. 3.3.10 Shock class.- For shock tests, the equipment shall be classified as gra
27、de A, class I, light weight, type A. 3.4 Electrical design. - 3.4.1 - Duty.- The equipment shall be capable of continuous operation. 3.4.2 Power source.- The equipment shall be designed to operate from either 115 volts, 50 to 400 Cycle, single phase, or 22 to 30 volts direct current (d.c.). Connecti
28、on to the 115 volt source shall be thru a cable assembly permanently attached to the rear of the equipment and conforming to Type II of J-C-175. A suitable connector shall be provided on the rear of the equipment for connection to the d.c. source. Circuitry to the d.c. power connector shall be such
29、that an external battery will furnish standby power, with no break in oper- ation of the equipment, in case of a 115 volt power failure. 32、l between 0.5 and 5.0 3.4.3.3 Impedance.- Input impedance on each channel shall be no less than 50 ohms with 12 amplifier 100 kc. volts (V). 37、 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection.- Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein, Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own faciliti
38、es or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the speci- fication where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Classification of t
39、ests. - Qualification tests as specified herein, and quality conformance inspection as specified in MIL-E-16400 shall be performed on the equipment. 4.1.2 Test procedure approval. - Procedures for all required inspections, including descriptions of test equipment to be used, shall be submitted to th
40、e bureau or agency concerned for approval at least 30 days be- fore tests are scheduled to begin. number 3. The test time on each equipment shall be not less than 450 hours and not more than 720 hours. If an accept decision cannot be made before 720 hours on an equipment, the test shall be terminate
41、d and the re- quired reports of the tests shall be submitted to the bureau or agency concerned for the decision to accept or reject. With all inputs energized, three output lines shall be monitored, one at each frequency, for level across 50 ohms. Violating the limits of 4.0 to 5.0 volts shall const
42、itute a failure. If input level controls are used, they may be set initially, but may not be adjusted during the test. Reliability testing shall be conducted on one out of every 25 units produced. 4.2 Qualification tests.!./- Qualification tests shall be conducted at a laboratory satisfactory to the
43、 Bureau of Ships, Qualification tests shall consist of the tests specified in table IIi and 4.4. Three complete equipments shall be submitted for qualification inspection. 4.1.3 Reliability testing.- Reliability tests shall be performed as specified in MIL-R-22732 for test level /Application for dal

(c) Environmental tests. 4.3.1 Production inspection.- Production inspection shall be made on every equipment offered for deliv- ery and shall comprise such examination and tests as will prove the workmanship and reveal possible omis- sions

Inspection shall be conducted to detect any deterioration in the de- sign by wear of such items as dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and to detect deviations in the material or part processing, selection, or assembly, and to detect any deterioration in the performance of the equipment not discernible under the inspection of 4.3.1.
