REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2.1)

14、, the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.2.1 and 6.3). 3.2 Material. The acoustic absorptive board shall be a laminate consist- ing of a perforated fibrous glass cloth facing, a high density fibrous glass. layer, and a fibrous glass backing board

15、. Asbestos fibers and components containing asbestos fibers are prohibited. A certificate of compliance shall bs required that the material is asbestos free in accordance with the data ordering document specified (see 6.2.2). 3.2.1 Backing board. The backing board shall conform to type II of MIL-1-7

16、42 unfaced board with the following exception: The board shall be furnished in nominal thickness of 20 millimeters (mm) (3/4-inch) or 45 mm (1-3/4-inch) (see 3.2.2 and 3.4.2). 3.2.2 High density fibrous glass laye-r. The fibrous glass layer shall have a density of not less than 160 kilograms per cub

17、ic meter (kg/m3) (10.pounds per cubic foot (lb/ft3) (see 4.5.1). The layer shall consist of glass fibers impregnated with a suitable binder and compressed or otherwise formed into a waffle. The nominal thickness of the high density fibrous glass layer shall be 6.0 mm (1/4-inch) (see 6.2.1). A certif

18、icate of compliance is required to establish the density of the high density layer in accordance with the data ordering document specified (see 6.2.2), 3.2.2.1 Waffle. The waffle shall be constructed having 5.0 mm (3/16-inch) deep indentations tapering from a nominal 6.0 mm (1/4-inch) diameter to a

19、nomi- nal 3.0 mm (1/8-inch) diameter, on the 13.0 m (1/2-inch) centers. 3.2.3 Fibrous.glass cloth facing. The cloth used for facing the high density fibrous glass layer shall conform to type I, -class 2 of MIL-C-20079, The cloth facing shall be impregnated with a hardening agent. The cloth facing sh

20、all be perforated with nominal 5.0 mm (3/16-inch) diameter holes on 13.0 mm ( 1/2-inch) centers. 3.2.3.1 Facing adhesive. The impregnated fibrous glass cloth facing shall be compatible with adhesive conforming to type II of MIL-A-3316. The adhesive strength requirements for securing fibrous glass cl

21、oth facing to the high density fibrous glass layer shall conform to MIL-A-3316. 3.2.4 Recovered materials. Unless otherwise specified herein, all mate- rial incorporated in the acoustic absorptive board covered by this specifica- tion shall be new and shall be fabricated using materials produced fro

22、m recov- ered materials to the maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing the intended use, The term “recovered materials“ means materials whFch have been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. None of the

23、 above shall be interpreted to mean that the use of used or rebuilt products is allowed under this specification unless otherwise specifically specified. 3.3 Construction. One side of the high density fibrous glass layer shall be adhered to the backing board and the other side adhered to the fibrous

24、 glass cloth facing, using adhesive. The acoustic absorptive board shall be so designed that the perforations in the f

25、ibrous glass cloth facing shall be centered over the indentations in the waffle-type high density fibrous glass layer. 3 . 4 Dimensions . 3.4,l Width and length, Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), the acoustic absorptive board shall be furnished in a width of 610 m (24 inches) and a length of 9

26、15 mm (36 inches) (see 4,4). 3.4.2 Thickness. The acoustic absorptive board shall be furnished in thicknesses of 25.0 mm (1 inch) or 51.0 mm (2 inches), as specified (see 4.4 and 6.2,1), 3.4.3 Tolerances. Tolerances on length and width shall not exceed 6.0 mm (1/4 inch). Tolerance on thickness shall

27、 not exceed 2.0 mm (3/32 inch). 3.5 Fire resistance. The acoustic absorptive board shall have a flame spread index less than 30 and smoke development less than 100 when tested as specified in 4.5.2. A certificate of compliance shall be required in accordance with the data ordering document specified

28、 (see 6.2.2 and 6.3.1). 3.6 Facing separation. When the acoustic absorptive board is cut or sawed, the threads sf the fibrous glass cloth facing across which the cut is made shall not: be separated from the face over a distance of more than 3.0 mm (1/8 inch). En case the fibrous glass cloth facing d

29、oes not cover the entire surface of the board, the uncovered portion of the board shall not extend further than 3.0 mm (1/8 inch) from any edge. The fibrous glass cloth facing shall not extend over the edge of the board. 3.7 Sound absorption. When tested as specified in 4.5.3, the acoustic absorptiv

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Respon,sibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contrast: or purchase order

31、, the contractor is responsible for the performance of alr.inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise speci- fied in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified here

32、in, unless disapproved by the Government, The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections am deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) First article inspection (see 4.2.1). (b) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.2.2). 4.2.1 Firs

The density test of 4.5.1 and the fire resistance test of 4.5.2 are required at three year intervals except that new tests are required when

36、ever manufacturing methods are changed. Certificates of compliance are acceptable to establish manufacturing the data ordering document specified (see 6.2.2). , method consistency during the interim between test periods in accordance with 4.2.3 Test reports. Test reports shall be prepared in accorda

37、nce with the data ordering documents specified (see 6.2.2). 4.3 Sampling. 4.3.1 Inspection lot. For purposes of sampling, a lot shall consist of all boards of the.same thickness produced under essentially the same conditions, and offered for delivery at one time. 4.3.2 Sampling for visual and dimens

38、ional examination. A random sample of boards shall be selected from each lot offered for inspection in accord- ance with MIL-STD-105 at inspection level II. The acceptable quality level shall be 2.5 percent defective. 4.3.3 Quality conformance test sampling. When density and fire resistance tests MI

Caseliners for -PPP-B-636 and PPP-B-640

40、boxes may be omitted provided all center, edge seams, and the manufacturers joint are sealed with pressure sensitive tape in accordance with the appendix to the applicable box specification. All boxes shall be closed, strapped, or banded in accordance with the applicable box specification or appendi

41、x thereto, with method V closure applicable to PPP-B-636 boxes. The gross weight of wood or wood-cleated boxes shall not. exceed 200 pounds. Fiberboard boxes shall not exce.ed the weight limitation for the applicable box selected. 5.2.2 Level B. Acoustic absorptive board shall be packed as specified

42、 in 5.2.1, except that the domestic type or non-weather resistant class container shall apply and caseliners are not required. Method I closure shall apply for PPP-B-636 boxes. 5.2.3 Level C. Acoustic absorptive board shall be packed in containers acceptable to the common carrier which will ensure s

43、afe delivery at destina- tion in a satisfactory condition at the lowest applicable rate. Containers, packing, or method of shipment shall comply with Uniform Freight Classification Rules or National Motor Freight Classification Rules or other carrier rules as applicable to the mode of transportation

44、. 5.3 Markihg. In addition to any special marking required (see 6.2.1), shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. The acoustic absorptive board covered by this specifi- cation is intended for-reduction of sound in spaces, such as machinery spaces,

45、 where there is a high level of noise. 6.2 Ordering data. 6.2.1 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following: . i Title, number, and date of this specification. First article.sample, when required (see 3.1). Noncombustible or fire-retardant waffle layer (see 3.2.2). W

46、idth and length required, if other than 24 by 36 inches Thickness required (see 3.4.2). Quality conformance inspection reports required (see 4.2.2). Levels of packing required (see 5.2). Special marking required (see 5.3). board (see 3.4.1). 6.2.2 Data requirements. When this specification is used i

47、n an acquisi- tion which incorporates a DD Form 1423, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), the data requirements identified below shall be developed as specified by an . approved Data Item Description (DD Form 1664) and delivered in accordance with the approved CDRL incorporated into the contract
