SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers natural finish and anodized or dyed alu

2、minum alloy tape for use as banding ribbons and embossed identification tage. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Standards. Unless otherwise specified, the following standards of the issue listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifi- cations and Standards

3、(DoDISS) specified in the solicitation form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. STANDARDS FEDERAL FED-STD-595 - Colors. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, t

9、he text of this specifica- tion shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the material shall be aluminum alloy UNS A 95052 (formerly alloy 5052). 3.1.1 Recovered materials. Unless otherwise specified herein, all material, covered by this specification

10、 shall be new and may be produced from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing the intended use. The term “recovered materials“ means materials which have been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed t

11、o virgin raw materials. None of the above shall be interpreted to mean that the use of used or rebuilt products is allowed under this specification unless otherwise specif ically specified. 3.2 Sizes. Tape shall be furnished in the following sizes, as specified (see 6.2): Width Thickness Inches Inch

The width shall not vary more than plus or minus 0.010 inch. 3.3 Condition. 3.3.1 The tape shall be furnished in the annealed (O-temper) condition, and the metal shall not rupture when test

14、rs, and other injurious defects within the limits consistent with the best commercial practice. Discoloration due to thermal treatment shall not be cause for rejection. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, th

15、e contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, un

16、less disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Quality conformance inspection. Tape shall be exa

17、mined and tested to verify compliance with the requirements specified herein. 4.2.1 - Lot. All tape of the same size, made of the same material, and offered for delivery at one time shall be considered a lot for purposes of sampling and inspection. 4.2.2 Sampling for inspection. Samples of tape shal

18、l be selected from each lot offered for delivery in accordance with table I. TABLE I. Sampling for inspection. The tape shall be examined for workmanship, width, thick- ness, length per roll, and continuity of color. Five measurements for thickness and

20、 width shall be made, at least 3 feet apart, and no measurement shall be out- side the tolerances specified in 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. If any sample is found to be defective, the lot shall be rejected. 4.4 Bend test. From each roll selected in accordance with 4.2.2, the tape shall be bent in five locations

21、 at least 3 feet apart. At each location the tape shall be bent back on itself around a pin approximately 0.05 inch in diameter, and straightened to its approximate original flatness by pulling with the hands. 4.4.1 If any sample fails the bend test, the lot shall be rejected. 4.5 Inspection of pack

22、aging. Sample packages and packs, and the inspection of the preservation-packaging, packing and marking for shipment and storage shall be in accordance with the requirements of section 5 and the documents specified therein. 5. PACKAGING (The packaging requirements specified herein apply only for dir

23、ect Govern- ment acquisition.) 5.1 Preservation-packaging and packing. Unless otherwise specified (see 6-21, the tape shall be preserved-packaged and packed in accordance with the requirements of ASTM D 3951. 5.2 Marking. Marking for shipment shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129. In addition, any

24、 special contract or order marking requirements shall be adhered to (see 6.2). 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. This specification is intended for use in the banding ahd identification of nonferrous products. 6.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following: Title, number, and date of

25、 this specification. Alloy and temper required, if other than specified (see 3.1). Size required (see 3.2). If to be colored on one side only (see 3.4.1). Whether metal is to be anodized or given other corrosion Length required (see 3.5). Level of preservation-packaging and packing, if other than If
