2、s and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the filling and assembly of the M726 incendiary bomb, 2. APPLICABLE DQCUYENTS 2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal, form a part of this specificati

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Naterial s and components. 3.1.1 Materials. All materials cited on Drawing DL14-5-3018 or on the subsidiarfir-s shall c

6、onform to the specifications thereon, or to the speci f i c characteristics set forth on the drawi nqs . 3.1 .2 Com onents . Al 1 components chal 1 conform to the specification& and drawings re- isted on Drawing DL14-5-3018 and subsidiary drawings. 3.2 Filling and assembly. 3.2.1 Filling. (see 6.2).

7、 (a) Main charqe. The bomb shall be filled with thennate TH3 as specified on Drawing 07a-5-3018. The themate shall be consolidated in no less than 3 approximately eaual increments under a minimum dead load of 6500 pounds and a maximun of 7500 pounds dead load. be maintained for a minimum of 3 second

8、s for each increment. The ram used for the consolidation of all increments shall be shaped to give the depres- sion as shown on Drawing 014-5-3018. The dead load shall (See 6.3). (b) First fire mixture. The bomb shall contain 42 to 62 grams of first fire mixture. The mixture shall be consoldiated at

9、 a dead load of 6500 to 7500 pounds, using a ram shaped to form the depression shown on Drawing 014-5-3018. The dead load shall be maintained for 3 to 5 seconds. 3.2.2 Assembly. The bomb shall be assembled in accordance with Drawing D14-5-3018. 3.3 Functioning. The bomb shall function as follows: (a

10、) Primer detonation. (b) Ignition of first-fire mixture. (c) Ignition of thermate (TH3). (d) Complete burning of the magnesium body to full depth of the thermate. 3.3.1 Five foot dro . The bomb shall not function when dropped from a height of-idches and tested as specified in 4.4.4 and 4.4.5. 3.3.2

Prior to the start of regular product

12、ion, a pre- production lot of bombs shall be produced in accordance with this specification for examination and test (see 4.3). 3.5 lorkmanship. The bomb shall be free of all foreign matter and damage such as cracks, and deformation which could affect its intended use . 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIO

13、NS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. - 4.1 .l Suppliers responsibility-. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsibie for the perform- ance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the su

14、pplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspec- ti on requirements specified herein, un1 ess di sapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspection are deemed

15、necessary to assure supplies and services conform to specified requirements. 4.1.2 Objective evidence. The supplier shall provided objective evidence acceptable to the contracting officer that the requirements of 3.1 and section 5 for which specific inspection has not been pro- vided in this specifi

16、cation have been satisfied. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) Preproducti on i nspecti on (see 4.3) . (b) Qual ity conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 Preproduction inspection. 4.3.1 - Lot. A preproduction lot of 2000 bom

17、bs shall be manufactured using the same methods, materials, equipment, and processes as will be used during reaular production. 4.3.2 Sampling. 4.3 2.1 For exami nati on. Sampl i ng s ha1 1 be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, general inspection level III. 4.3.2.2 For destructive tests. Eigh

For examination. Sample bombs shall be examined in accordanc

19、e . with the classification of defects and MIL-STD-105. 4.3.3.2 .For destructive tests. - Sample bombs shall be tested in accord- ance with 4.4.4 and 4.4.5. 4.3.3.3 Acceptance/rejection criteria. The preproduction lot shall meet the examinations and tests specified herein to be acceptable. The suppl

20、ier shall obtain written approvai from the contracting officer prior to pro- ceedi ng with regular production. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4,4,1 Lotting. Each lot shall be identified and controlled in accordance with MIL-STD-1168. Contained in any one interfix number of bombs, no more than o

21、ne interfix number from one manufacturer produced in one week of the following components is permitted: (a) M126 bomb hardware (b) Fin assemblies (c) First fire mixture (d) Thermate 4.4.2 Sampling. 4.4.2.1 For examination. Sampling shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.2.2 For destr

29、icable, onto a level 1/2-inch-thick, nominal, steel plate, 4- to 6-inches square, imbedded in a concrete block at least 12 by 12 by 12 inches and placed on a level concrete surface. 4.4.5 Acceptance/rejection criteria.
