2、ns the manufacture, assembly and preparation for deliveryof the MARK 36 MOD O delay cartridge and the methods of inspection and tests upon which product acceptance will be based. 2. 8、02472 -j -i- 3.3 Primary components, For the purposes of this specification the M42 Primer ( MIL-P-OG), Powders, Ignition, Gasless (mL-P-22264), and Manganese Delay Composition (MIL-M-21383) are defined as primary components . 3.4 Primer. The primers shall be furnished from lots manufactured within

9、a year past and shall be in accordance with Ordnance Drawing 8799925 and MTL-P-20444. See 4.7.1. 3.4,l X ra All primers shall be X-rayed and screened for defects as outined%d:7.2 . 3.5 Gasless ignition powder and loading. The gasless ignition powder, A-U, shall be manufactured and loaded in accordan

10、ce with MIL-P-22264 and Bureau of Naval Weapons Drawing 2164484 of I;D 419708, respectively. 3 -6 Manganese delay composition. The manganese delay composition shadl be manufactured and loaded in accordance with MIL-M-21383 and Bureau of. Naval Weapons Drawing 2164484 of ILI 419708, respectively. 3.7

11、 Base propellant charge. The base propellant charge shaLX be m. The base propellant charge shail be as specified on Bureau of Naval Weapons Drawing 2164485 of IJ) 419708, be determined by weight rather than by volume measuraents. Charges shall 3.7.2 Smokeless powder, hanling and loading. Do not subJ

12、ect the smokeless powder to mnecessary handling ar exposure Co the atmosphere. The handling and loading of smokeless powder exposed to the atmosphere shall be performed only under conditions that do not permit the rela- tive humidity to exceed 75 percent, 3*7.3 Smokeless powder, condition. The smoke

13、less powder utilized shall exhlbit no evidence of decomposition. See 4.7.3. 3.8 Cafiridge inspection. 3.8d Visual inspection, The complete cartridge shall be free o9 the visible defects noted in 4.7.4, 3.8.2 X-ray. Cartridges from each production lot, selected in accordance with 4.8; shall meet the requirements listed below when subjected to the test prescribed in

15、 4.8. 3.9.1 Delay time. Delay time shall %e measured from initial move- ment of the firing pin to start of pressure rise, limits of delay time shall be TL = 0.40 second and TU = 0.75 second, respectively . QUALITY ASSURANCE PVISIONs 4.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or gmchase order, the supplier is responsible for

18、the perfomnca of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any comercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government csemes the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification wher

19、e such inspeckions are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements . 4 2 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified, and when applicable, the sapling plans and procedures used in the detendnation of the acceptability o9 products submitted by a supplier shall be in a

20、ccor- dance idth the provisions of MIL-SzlD-lO5 e UnLesS. otherwise specified in the contract, order, or requisition, charge broken, cracked, or deformed; misplaced or cracked anvil; or other misplaced or cracked inert parts. 4.7.3 Smokeless powder, condjition. Smokeless powder shall be inspected in

21、 accordance with the applicable portions of para- graphs 2308-1318 and 1322 of OP .5 e be cause for rejeckion. X-ray plates may be destroyed after ballistic acceptance of cartridges. 4.8 Baliistic teszs 4.8.1 The number of cartridges selected fmm each pmduction lot for the ballistic tests shall be in accordance with the requirements of Table 1 of MIL-6TD-lOS, Inspection Level III. The sample of car- tridg

24、es shal1,be divided inlx three equal lots. One lot each shall be conditioned for 24 hours at -65OF f 50F, +7F f 5OF and +16oO f 5OF. The cartridges shall be fired witqn 3 minutes after removal from the conditioning box in a MARK 11 MOD 0 Fnitiator or equivalent. initiator shall fire into a closed ch

25、aber of 0.3 cubic inch volume. If test failure is attributable to an assignable cause, excluding the test cartridges, original test results should bediscarded and the complete test reconducted. 5. PREPARATION FOR DEZIVERY 5

29、1 Preservation and packaging. For definitions of packaging levels, see 6.4. 5.1.1 Level A. Level A packaging shall be used for packaging of all production lo.ts for service use. in an Inner container in accordance with UI 537902. Four cartridges shall be packaged 5J.2 Level B. Not applicable. 5*1.3

30、 Level C. When directed by the procuring activity, cartridges intended for expenditure In preproduction sample testing and for pro- duction lot acceptance tests skiall be packaged in accordance with Method III of MIL-P-U and with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 C1FR 71-78 5e2 Packing. For definit

31、ions of packing levels, see 6.4. 5,2+l Level A. Level A packing shall be used for packing of all production lots for service use. Six inner containers as described in 5J.l shall be packed in accordance with Bureau of Naval Weawns 537903. 5.2.2 Level B. Not applicable. 5.2.3 Level C. When directed by

32、 the procwing activity, those cartridges intended for expenditure in preproduetion sample testing and for production 10% acceptance tests and are packaged in accordance with 5.1.3 shall be packed to afford protection agafnst damage during direct shipment from the supply source to the first receiving

33、 activity for immediate use. The shipping container shall be in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78. 5.3 Markings. 5.3.1 Special markings. Marking-of exterior containers shall be in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78, 5.3.2 Normal markings. In addit

NOTES 6.1 Intended use* The primary use of the 36 MOD O delay cartridge is .to provide a ballistic delqy in aircraft personnel escape systems. 6.2 Ordering informatbon. Pmcurement documents should specify the following:

36、a. title, number and date of this specification; b. whether preproduction inspection is required and if so, specim the test activity; c. production lot size and test activity (see 4.3.3); d. items of data required for each preproduction and production lot (see 6.3) 6.3 - Data. For the information of

37、 Contractors and Contracting Officers, any of the data specified in (a) subparagraphs below, (b) a plicable documents listed in Section 2 of this specifi9ation or (cP referenced lower-tier documents, need not be prepared for the Goverment and shall not baafurniched to the Govement unless speci- fied

38、 in the contract or ordero The data to be furnished shall be listed on DD Form i423 (Contractor Data Requirements List) which shall be attached to and made a part of the contract or order. 42、ng, pressing, casting, cripming, etc . 6.5 .2,4 Einploy properly proportioned and properly located pro- tective barricades, screens or shields at all required pints. 6.5.2.5 Maintain equipmen-b such as presses, dies, crimpers, blenders, mixers, sifters, conveyors, and the like, in safe operating con

43、dition 6.5.2.6 Enforce, where necessary, the wearing of suitable safety footwear, gloves, goggles, respirators, and impregnated garmentx to protect personnel against burns, poisoning and associated industrial hazards 6.5.2.7 During static tests, propulsion units such as rocket motors shall be restra

44、ined against full thrust to prevent flight if ignited, for example, durng test of igniter circuit. Also, means to vent flames and exhaust gases harmlessly shall be provided. 6 .T .3 Operating procedures e All loading operations shall be conducted in full accordance with a formalized operating proced
