REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 The MARK 47 MD O impulse cartridge covered by this specifi- cation shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings listed on 534539. 3.2 Materials. All materials used in the manufacture of the car- tridges shall c
12、onform strictly with the specifications referenced on the respective NAVAIR drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been obtained fromthe Navy cognizant field activity for cartridges prior to manufacture. When alternate materials or methods of cartridge manufa

Primers shall be free of the following defects when examined by x-ray in accordance with 4.7.2: charge; charge broken, cracked or porous: cracked or off-center anvil or other ndsplaced or deformed inert partst anvil abnormally close to printer CUP dome; and all other ob

The handllng and loading of smokeless powder exposed to the atmosphere shall be performed only under conditions that do not permit the relative humidity to exceed 75 percent. 3.5.4 Smokeless powder, condition. The smokeless powder utilieed shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition. See 4.7.4
21、. 3.6 CartridRe inspection. 3.6.1 Visual inspection. Cartridges shall be free of the foliowing visible defects: dents, deep scratches, cr8cks, burrs, split or cracked Up in the crimped area, amaged “O“ ring or closure disc, incomplete or improper sealant application, or any other imperfections which
22、 could prevent entry into the firing chamber, or adversely affect performance or resistance to moisture. See 4.7.5. 3.6.2 Leakage. Cartridge leakage rate shall not exceed 10-5 cc of air or gas per second when tested in accordance with 4,7.6. by x-ray in accordance wii;h 4.7.7. 3.6.3 X-ray. Cartridge
23、s shall be free of imperfections when examined 3.7 Ballistic recwirefients. Cartridges from each production lot, selected in accordance with 4.7.8.1, shall meet the requirements listed below when subjected to th test prescribed in 4.7.0.1. 3.7.1 Chamber pressure. The lower (L) limit of maximum chamb

27、rements of this specification. Particular attention shall be directed to diiirwnsions, finishes and coatings. 4, QUALITY ASSURANCE HIOVISSONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in tha contract or purchase ordep., the supplier is responsible for the per- formance of all ins
28、pection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspec- tion requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the rig
29、ht to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Samplinq, Unless otherwise specified, and when applicable, the sampling plans and procedures used in the determinati
30、on of the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier shall be in accordance with the provisions of MIL-STD-105 or MTL-TD-414, wbichever applies. 4.3 Lots. 4.3.1 inspection lots, bspection lot definition, formation and sise shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-lO5 or EIL-STD-414, whichever appl

A preproduction sample acceptable for environmental and functional testing shall be defined at3 a sample which has met the requirements of paragraphs 3.3 through 3.6.3 of this specification. Preproduction sample acceptance shall consist of the following

35、4.5 Classification of characteristics. The characteristics verified by the tests and examinations herein are classified as Critical, Major or Pllinor In accordance with WR43. Tests and examinations that verify crit- ical characteristics are identified by the symbol (C) and major character- istics by
36、 the symbol(M). The number following the classification symbol indicates the serial number of test or examination. which are not annotated with a classification code are classified minor. The contractor shall provide verifica- tion that the primers to be used were manufactured, loaded and accepted in accordance with this requirements of 3.4 and were furnished from lots manufcrctnmd within the preceding 12 months. 4.7.2 hime

Prior to the loading of each production lot end daily prior to loading any cartridges, whether or not for a new production lot, the black powder to be used
43、 shall be tested for moisture content i:n accordance with 4.7.3.i. Additional tests shall be conducted when such tests are considered warranted by variations in conditions= process which could increase the moisture content of the powder. MItP-223 shall cause suspension of loading activities until co
44、rrective measures have been taken. The presence of moisture in excess of the limits specified in 4e3.3.1 Determininlz moisture content. At the site of loading, take fromthe powder container a sample of approxhmtely 2 grams of tbe black powder to be used, place in a tared container and accurately det
45、ermine the net weight of the sample to the nearest 0.1 millipam. for a minimum of 90 minutes at 90 b. whether preproduction inspection is required and, if so, specify the test activity; C. production lot sim and test activity (see 4.3.3); d. items of data required for each preproduction and producti
