In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cit
18、ed herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (se
19、e 6.4) in accordance with 4.3. 3.1.1 Standard saimle. When a standard sample is available the cloth shall match the sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is referenced (see 6.5). 3.2 Material. 3.2.1 Fibers. 3.2.1.1 TYR - e I organic fibers. Organic fibers used in t
20、he construction of the cloth shall be permanently fire retardant (PFR) rayon, polyaramid, or any other inherently fire-safe organic fiber or organic fiber blends provided that the cloth woven from the fiber or fiber blends meets all of the requirements of this specification and is consistent with th
21、e intended end use application (see 6.1). 3.2.1.2 TvDe II coated inorganic fibers. Only “C“ filament fibrous glass fibers shall be used. 3.2.2 Yarns. Neither asbestos nor ceramic (refractory) fibers nor material containing any of these fibers shall be used in either type I or type II cloth (see 6.3). 3.3 Weave, Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2)
23、, the woven cloth shall be opaque or translucent as required. 3.4 Color. The color and shade of the finished cloth shall approximate the standard sample when available. color and shade shall approximate the first article sample which has been approved by the contracting officer as conforming to the
24、desired color and shade (see 6.2). When a standard sample is not available, the 3.4.1 Colorfastness. The colorfastness of the cloth to light, wet and dry crocking, heat aging and laundering, shall be as follows: 3.4.1.1 Light. The cloth shall show tigood“ (AATCC gray scale class 4 or better) colorfa
25、stness to light after 20.0 standard fading hours when tested (see 4.5). 3.4.1.2 Crocking (wet and dry). The cloth shall show a rating of ogood“ (Munsell Value 8.5 (min) or numerically rating of 3.0 (good or better). color transference chart, when using white crock cloth and tested (see 4.5). AATCC 3
26、.4.1.3 Heat ageing. The cloth shall show Itgood“ (AATCC gray scale class 4 or better) colorfastness to heat after 7 days of exposure when tested (see 4.5.1). 3.4.1.4 Laundering. The cloth shall show no less than class “3.5“ (moderate) colorfastness to laundering when tested (see 4.5) and rated in ac
27、cord- ance with AATCC gray scale for evaluating change in color, 3.4.2 Unavailability of a standard sample. When no standard sample has been established or designated as applicable to colorfastness, the dyed and finished cloth shall show IIgood“ colorfastness to laundering (after 5 cycles), fastness
28、 to light after 20 hours exposure shall show a Munsell Value for crocking in accord- ance with AATCC color transference chart of not less than 8.5 (see 4.5). 3.4.3 Odor, The material shall have no objectionable odor. When tested the odor concentration shall be 10 or less (see 4.5). 3.5 Finish. The f
29、inish shall be type I or II as follows: 3.5.1 Finish (type I) The finish shall approximate that of the standard sample when available. approximate that of the first article sample which has been approved by the contracting officer as conforming to the desiredfinish. A fire retardant, polymeric coating shall be applied to the face and back surfaces of the base cloth to increase the abrasion resistance of the base fabric and shall not exceed 20 percent of the total weight of the coated cloth (see 6.3). The fabric shall neither shrink nor elongate more
32、than 4 percent for type I cloth nor more than 2 percent for type II cloth in both the warp and filling directions after 5 launderings and when tested (see 4.5). 3.7 Dimensions and put-up. 3.7.1 Width. The width inclusive of selvage shall be as specified. A plus or minus tolerance of 2 percent shall
33、be allowed (see 6.2). 3.7.2 Lenpth. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the cloth shall be in one continuous length of 50 f 2-1/2 yards. 3.8 Designs and Datterns. The designs and patterns, dyed color or natural, shall be as specified (see 6.2). 3.9 Weave and yarn count. Any weave and yarn count ma
34、y be used consistent with the total performance requirements of this specification and the intended use of the cloth. 3.10 Phvsical reauirements. The contract
37、ing activity shall be provided a material safety data sheet at the time of contract award, shall be provided in accordance with the requirements of FED-STD-313. shall be included with each shipment of the material covered by this specification (see 6.6). The finished cloth shall conform to the fire retardance and optical smoke density requirements specified in MIL-STD-1623 (see 4.5). 3.12.1 Fire retardance and oDtical smoke densitv after laundering. After five launderings the fire retardance shall conform to the fire and optica
39、l smoke density requirements specified in MIL-STD-1623. 3.13 Hand. character. and appearance. The hand, character, and appearance of the cloth after testing for colorfastness to laundering, heat ageing, and light shall show no appreciable change from the original cloth when tested (see 4.5). 3.14 Ma
40、rking. The length of each roll shall be legibly marked with indelible ink on a ticket securely attached to the roll. 3.15 Labels, Labels shall be made of a fire-resistive material conforming to this specification, and shall be supplied in the quantity specified by the contracting activity for later
41、attachment to the finished articles (see 6.2). Each label shall have the following information: (a) Specification number and type. (b) (c) Laundering instructions: Follow manufacturers recommendations. (d) Lot number. Manufacturer of the woven cloth. 3.16 WorkmanshiD. The finished cloth shall confor

Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the

47、uirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of the manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accep
48、t defective material. 4.2 Classification of inwections. “he inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) First article inspection (see 4.3). (b) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), first article insp
49、ection shall consist of the examination and tests specified in 4.5 (see 6.3). Sample shall be visually inspected for appearance, color, and finish. 4.3.1 First article samDle. If more than one weave, color, or pattern of cloth is acquired at any one time, only one 3-yard cut for each fabric shall constitute the first article sample. 4.4 ualitv conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection (see 4.2) shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105, exce
