REQUIREMENTS *3.1 First article. which will be identical to the product which the supplier will subse- quently produce in fulfillment of the contract. As soon as practicable after a

21、ward of contract or order and prior to submission of any complete units for final acceptance, one first article shall be tested under the direction and supervision of the Government inspector to determine conformance to this specification, specified herein. Approval of the first article by the activ

22、ity concerned shall not relieve the contractor of his obligation to supply equipment conforming to this specification. Any changes or deviations of production units from the first article shall be subject to the approval of the contracting officer. The first article is defined as a production model

23、The first article shall be tested as 3.2 Materials. Materials shall be as specified herein. Materials not definitely specified shall be of the same quality used for this purpose in commercial practice, free from all defects which affect serviceability and appearance of the finished product, 3*2.1 Fu

24、npus resistance. Electrical connections, including terminal and circuit connections, components and circuit: elements shall be coated with varnish conforming to MIL-V-173 except that: (a) Components and elements inherently inert to fungi or hermetically sealed need not be treated, (b) Components and

The crane shall consist essentially of a 4-whee

26、l drive, 4-wheel steer, pneumatic-tired, diesel-engine powered carrier. The carrier shall be equipped with a center-mounted, full revolving boom support, a full hydraulically powered telescoping boom of not lesS.than 36 feet (ft) extended length, and capable of a reach of not less than a 36-ft radiu

27、s at zero elevation. *3.3.1 Carrier. The carrier shall consist of a welded, riveted, bolted (or combination thereof) fabricated steel frame with necessary braces and reinforcements to provide rigid support under all operating conditions, and incorporating axle housings, mounts, and a boom support sw

28、ing-circle base. The frame, with rear-end pintle hook, shall be mounted on four pneumatic tired interchangeable wheels, The carrier shall be capable of four-wheel drive with two-wheel steer on the front axle, and with four- wheel coordinated and crab steer available at the selection of the operator.

The carrier shall be capable, with complete unit in travel position, of traveling over rough and unpaved terrain, sandy beaches and shallow water beaches under adverse conditions as encountered in normal combat field ope

The crane assembly, designed for carrier mounting, shall consist of a fully revolving base with pedestal-type boom support, a sectional extendible boom, wire rope not less than 1/2

32、 inch in diameter, hook block, and necessary operating machinery 3.3.2.1 Boom support. The boom support and base shall be mounted on the carrier to insure full 360 working range and shall be designed to withstand the forces caused by lifting, swinging, and traveling with the safe loads. The boom sup

33、port shall provide stable retention of the boom in all positions and, with its base, shall rotate on ball thrust or tapered rollerbearings of sufficient number, size, and capacity to support working loads. Counterweight shall be mounted on the boom support to provide constant counterbalance to the b

34、oom and load. *3.3.2.2 Boom. The boom shall be alloy steel, of the hydraulically- operated telescoping type, consisting of a base section and sliding section(s) to reach a boom radius of not less than 36 ft. The boom tail swing shall not project more than 23 inches beyond the front and 9 inches beyo

35、nd the rear end of the carrier at any position of the counterweight when swinging, The extension, retraction, and elevation of the boom shall be accomplished by hydraulic controls. A cable-hoist drum, with wire rope of not less than 1/2 inch in diameter, shall be mounted at the base of the boom or on the boom supp

37、ort to facilitate crane operations. The hoist drum shall be actuated by a hydraulic motor controlled from the operators station. This assembly shall include a motor, a drum, and self-locking gearing or self-energizing brake mechanism. and shall be waterproof for outdoor operation. *3,3*2;4 The winch

38、 shall not be free wheeling, w, The load hoist rope shall be not less than 1/2 inch in diameter, of not less than 6 by 19 improved plow steel, uncoated, preformed, independent wire rope center, and shall have a safety factor of not less than 3.5 conforming to SAE 5959. *3.3.2,5 Hook block, The runni

39、ng block and hook shall have a rated capacity of not less than 15,000 pounds and shall have adequate weight, or a positive mechanical hydraulically actuated linkage, to insure payout o the cable without load on the hook when the hook is in any position. The hook shall be a swivel type, designed to h

40、andle at least 4.5 times the maximum safe load without permanent deformation, and shall include a safety latch on the hook, Block assembly shall provide for attachment of hoist cable for not less than two-part purchase. Means shall be provided to prevent: wedging or binding of the unloaded hook bloc

41、k when at boom end. “33.2.6 Sheaves. All sheaves shall have a pitch diameter at least 18 times the rope diameter, Sheaves shall be adequately guarded to prevent the wire rope from leaving the sheave during all operations. *3,3,3 Enpine, The crane shall be equipped with a single Detroit Diesel Alliso

42、n engine of the 53N or 71N Series. The engine and engine accessories Bill of Material shall be subject to the approval of the procuring activity. The engine horsepower, torque and speed character- istics shall be sufficient to meet the performance requirements specified herein. The crane manufacture

43、r shall furnish the contracting officer with a copy of the engine manufacturers certification that the engine supplied is approved for the crane required under this specification. The engine in the crane application shall be capable of starting and operating in ambient temperatures from -200F to +12

44、5F. shall be capable of meeting the performance requirements using jet fuel eonforming to MIL-T-5624, grade JP-5, as well as diesel fuel conforming to VV-F-800. 47、gative ground electric cranking system with starting motor mounting flange conforming to type 3 of SAE 5542. Minimum performance shall be 24-V heavy duty conforming to Figure 1 of SAE 5544. The system shall have an interlock or other means to prevent energizing the starter motor, except when the dir

48、ectional control lever is in the neutral position. (e) Batteries, 6TN, in accordance with MS35000-3, of sufficient quantity to insure positive engine cranking at -200F. be furnished charged and dry; electrolyte is not to be provided.
