Orders for the above publication should request the latest edition and supplements thereto.) 20402. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 The MARK 18 MOD O cartridge ac

11、tuated cutter covered by this specification shall be manufactured in accordance with DL 251-8207 and all documents listed thereon. 3.2 Materials. All materials used in the manufacture of the cutters shall conform strictly with the specifications referred to on the respective Naval Air Systems Cmand

Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, a preprodwtion sample of 70 MARK 18 MOD O cartridge actuated- cutte

14、rs shall be manufactured using the same methods and procedures proposed for the production lot. shall be tested as specified in 4.3.2 and is for the purpose of determining that the contractor, prior to starting production, is capable of producing items which comply with the technical require- ments

15、of the contract, The sample 3.3 Primary components. For the purposes of this specification, the M42 primer, the igniter composition, the delay composition and the output charge are defined as primary components. See 4.3.3. 3-4 Primer. The M42 .primers shall have been manufactured within the precedin

16、g 12 months, loaded with primer mixture styphnate compo- sition No, 5086 and shall be in accordance with Drawing 8799925 and MIL-P-20444. See 4,T.l. 3.4.1 X-ray. All primers shall be X-rayed and screened for defects as outlined in 4.7.1.1. 3.5 Igniter canposition and loading. The igniter composition

17、 shall be comlsounded and loaded in accordance with Drawings 2518212 - and 2518204 y respectively. 3.6 Delay composition and loading, The delay composition shall be compounded and loaded in accordance with Drawings 2518213 and 2518204 y respectively. 3.7 Output charge. 3.7.1 Composition and loading.

18、 The output charge shall be com- pounded and loaded in accordance with Drawings 2518211 and 2518204, respectively. 3.7.2 Quantity, All output charges shall be as specified on Drawing 251mharges shall be determined by weight rather than by volume measurements, 3.8 inspection. 3.8.1. The complete cartridge subassembly shall be free of the visible defects noted in 4.7.2.1. 3.8.2 Assembled cut

20、ters, 3.8,z.i Visual inspection. The completely assembled cutters shall be free of the visible defects noted in 4.7.2.2. 3.8.2.2 X-ray. Ail cutters shall pass the X-ray examination of 4.7*2.3. 3*9 Ballistic requirements. Cutters from each production lot, selected in accordance with 4.7.3.1, shall me

21、et the requirements listed below when subjected to the tests prescribed in 4.7.3.2 and 4,7.3.3. 3.9.1 Delay time, The lower and upper limits of delay times shall be L = 4.90 seconds and U = 7.00 seconds, respectively, when fired over the temperature range of -65“ to t160. 3.9.2 Output. Each unit sha

22、ll furnish sufficient power to completely sever a 750-pound test nylon reefing line cord under no tension. 3.9.3 Misfire. There shall be no misfires. See 4,7.3.4.3. 3.10 Workmanship. Cutters shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure compliance with all requirements of this specificatio

23、n. dimensions, finishes and coatings. Particular attention should be directed to 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS - 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of - cracked, deformed, or misplaced anv

24、il; or other visible deformation or improper assembly of inert parts, 4.7.2 Visual inspection. 4.7.2.1 Cartridge subassembly, Examine each cartridge sub- assembly and reject for: missing, perforated, or deformed closure disc; insufficient crimp or cracked or split cartridge body lip in the crimped a

25、rea at closure or primer end; primer cracked or deformed; or excessive sealant on dome of primer or closure disc. 4-7.2.2 Assembled cutter. Examine each assembled cutter and reject for: missing pull-ring or sleeve on the firing pin sear; protruding spring retainer; failure to crimp cartridge retaini

26、ng aseas; missing safety pin and tag; or improper crimp to retain spring retainer or anvil. 4.7.2.3 X-ray. Al1 cutters shall be examined by X-ray and any observable imperfections in assembly shall be cause for cutter rejection, Special attention shall be given to verifying that: the cartridge assemb

27、ly is properly crimped in place; all components are present; and that components are properly positioned, oriented and aligned, 4.7.3 Bailistic tests. 28、AS) 4.7.3.1 Sampling. following ballistic tests. from the production lot in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level I. balistic tests, ten additional cutters shall be furnished for investigative purposes. One of the cutter samples, selected in accordance with 4.7.3.1, shall be conditioned for aminhum of 12 hours at a60 I 5F and test fired as in 4.7.3.2. 4.7.3.4 Criteria of acceptability. 4.7.3.4.1 Delay time. With respect to delay time, the acceptance number shal

31、l be zero and the rejection ninriber shall be one, using the limits specified in 3.9.1. 4.7.3,4.2 Output. The failure of any cutter to sever the 750-pound test nylon line, under the condition specified in 3.9.2, shall cause rejection of the lot represented. 4.7.3.4.3 Misfire. The failure of any cart

32、ridge to fire shall cause rejection of the lot represented, unless such failure is plainly attributable to faulty test equipment or procedure. 4.8 Retest. There shall be no retests. 4.8.1 Test failure. If test failure is attributable to an assign- able cause, excluding the test cartridges, original

33、test results should be discarded and the complete test reconducted. 5. mEPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging. For definitions of packaging levels, see 6.4, 5.1.1 Level A. Level A packaging shall be used for packaging of all production lots for service use. in an inner container in a

35、g activity, those cutters which are intended for expenditure in preproduction sample testing md for production lot acceptance tests shall be packaged in accordance with Method III of MIL-P- and with the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 71-78. 5.2 Packing. For definitions of packing levels, see 6.4

36、. 5.2.1 Level A, Level A packing shall be used for packing of all production lots for service use. in 5.1.1 shall be packed in accordance with Drawing 2518375. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or orde

39、r, the marking information on unit packages and shipping containers shall be as specified on Drawings 2518376 and 251-8375. specified marking information shall be applied to the containers in accordance with the applicable provisions of MIL-STD-129. 41、omat ion. Procurement documents should specify the following : a. title, nmm5er and date of this specification; b. whether preproduction inspection is required, and if so, specify the test activity; production lot size and test activity (see 4.3.3); c. d. items of data required for each preproductio

42、n and production lot (see 6.3). 6.3 - Data. For the information of contractors and contracting officers, any of the data specified in (a) subparagraphs below, (b) applicable documents-listed in Section 2 of this specification or (c) referenced lower-tier documents need not be prepared for the Govern

43、ment and shall not be furnished to the Government unless specified in the contract or order. The data to be furnished shall be listed on DD Form 1423 (Contractor Data Requirements List) which shall be attached to and made a part of the contract or order. NAVWEPS Form 4200/15 (Drawings, Lists , and S

44、pecifications Required) shall- be attached where applicable. 6.3.1 Test report. Results of ballistic tests shall be forwarded to the Naval Air Systems Command and the procuring activity. 6.3,2 Data cards. The contract or order should state the format, quantity and destination of data cards. . 6.4 De

45、finitions. The definitions of Levels A and C packaging and packing given below were extracted from BUSANDA Instruction 4030.17. 6.4.1 Level A packaging. The degree of preservation and packaging which will afford adequate protection against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during handling

46、, shipment, indeterminate storage and world-wide redistribution. 6.4.1.1 Level C packaging. The degree of preservation and packaging which will afford adequate protection against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipment from supply source to the first receiving activity for immed
