This specification covers requirements for one type and size scarlet wool broadcloth music carrying pouch cover, embroidered with the United States Marine Corps emblem. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide samDles. Guide samples are furnished solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.4). Var
15、iation from this specification may appear in the standard sample, in which case the specification shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection and approval (see 4.4 and 6.3). 3.3 Materials 3.3.1 Basic mater
16、ial. The basic material shall be cloth, broadcloth, wool, scarlet, shade 2501, 14-15.5 ounce, conformingto type I of MIL-C-29405 except the finished cloth shall show fair fastness to crocking, perspiration, wet (dry) cleaning and light. 3.3.2 Buckram. The buckram for embroidery backing shall be of g
17、ood commercial quality, as used in the industry. 3.3.3 Ravon thread. The embroidery thread shall be continuous filament, regenerated cellulose (viscose or cuprmonium) type of rayon, 600 2 30 denier, single ply, and minimum breaking strength of 2.3 pounds. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproducti

Embroidery thread shall match the approved standard shades (see 6.4), conforming to the following cable numbers for rayon thread (see DoD Standard Shades for Heraldic yarns ) : White Scarlet, HL Silver Gray, H
19、AM Light Blue, HU Old Gold, HE Cable No. 67101 Cable No. 67111 Cable No. 67137 Cable No. 67120 Cable No. 67105 The dyed threads shall show good fastness ,o wet (dry) cleaning and light when tested as specified in Table II. 3.3.4 Cotton thread. 3.3.4.1 Bobbin thread. Bobbin thread used in the embroid
20、ery shall be a good commercial grade of two-ply cotton yarn. 3.3.4.2 Sewins thread. The thread for seaming and stitching shall be cotton, soft finish, ticket No. 40, 3-ply, conforming to type I of A-A-52094. The color of the thread shall be scarlet cable No. 66040, except when dyed thread shall show
21、 fair fastness to wet (dry) cleaning and light when tested as specified in A-A-52094. The thread for basting shall be a good commercial grade. 3.3.5 Evelet. Eyelet shall be brass, bright finish, conforming to type III, class 1, size O of MIL-G-16491. 3.4 Desian. The cover shall be the United States
22、Marine Corps design, as shown on Figures 1 and 2. 3.5 Patterns. The standard patterns furnished by the Government shall not be altered in any manner and shall be used only as a guide for cutting working patterns. The standard patterns provide for a 1/4 inch seam allowance. 3.5.1 List of pattern part

The cover, consisting of three pieces of basic material, shall have a one piece front embroidered with the United States Marine Corps emblem, a two p
25、iece back with a horizontal, straight type buttonhole in the lower backpart, and a brass eyelet near the top end of the cover. All raw edges, including edges of seams, shall be overedge stitched. 3.6.1 Manufacturinff requirements. The cover shall be manufactured in strict accordance with the operati
26、ons and the stitch, seam and stitching types specified in Table I. 3.6.1.1 Operations. The contractor is not required to follow the exact sequence of operations as listed in Table I, but all operations specified shall be used to manufacture the cover. 3.6.1.2 Stitches, seams and stitchinqs. The stit
27、ch, seam and stitching types specified in Table I shall conform to FED-STD-751. The number of stitches per inch as specified in Table I indicates the minimum and maximum number permitted. 3.6.1.3 Tackina and backstitchinq. Ends of seams or stitching, when not caught in other seams or stitching, shal
28、l be securely backtacked not less than 1/4 inch; thread breaks shall be secured by stitching back of break not less than 1/2 inch. 32、d to the cover through front and upper backpart without cutting or otherwise damaging the fabric, at location shown by the mark on the pattern. The flange of the eyelet shall be on the front of the finished cover. Clean cover. a. Pull any basting thread, trim and remove any loose ends of thread and

34、3iIL MIL-C-82141B(MC) 3.7 Finished measurements. The finished cover shall conform to that shown in Figure 2. 3.8 Workmanship. The finished cover shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable q
35、uality levels (AQLs). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 ResPonsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract o
36、r purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such i
37、nspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 ResPonsibilitv for corndiance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection
38、system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality con
39、formance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. 2. First article inspection (se
40、e 4.4). Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5). 4.3 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all inspections shall be performed in accordance with the test conditions specified in MIL-STD-105. 4.4 First article insPection. When a first article is required (see 3.2 and 6.3), it shall be e
41、xamined for the defects specified in 4.5.2.1 and 4.5.2.2. The presence of any defect may be cause for rejection of the first article. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected and tested in accordance with all the requirements of referenced specifications, drawing
43、s, and standards, unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase documents. The method of testing shall be as specified in FED-STD-191, wherever applicable. Testing shall be performed on components listed in Table II for characteristics noted.
44、 All test reports shall contain the individual values used in expressing the final result. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more sample units fail to meet any of the test requirements specified.
