This specification covers the minimum requirements for a poromeric and leather waist belt with detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. 1.2. Classification. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification will take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide sample. Guide samples are furnished solely fo

16、r guidance and information to the contractor. Variations from this specification may appear in the sample, in which case the specification shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified, before production is commenced, the first article, consisting of the number of belts specified by the procuring

17、activity shall be submitted, or made available to the contracting officer or his authorized representative for inspection. The approval of the first article authorizes the commencement of production, but does not relieve the contractor of responsibility for compliance with all provisions of this spe

18、cification. The first article shall be manufactured by the contractor in the same facilities to be used for the manufacture of the production items. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Poromeric. The basic material for all components of the waist belt and shoulder strap, except metal components, shall be a black p

19、oromeric material (see 6.3), 0.055 to 0.065 inch thick with a smooth high gloss finish. Embossing or printing shall not be permitted. 3.3.2 Leather. The leather shall be 4/64 inch thick and shall conform to type IV, class 1 of KK-L-271, except that the thickness tolerance shall be plus 1/64, minus 1

20、/128 inch. Embossing or prin

21、ting shall not be permitted. 3.3.3 Sealer. A black shade aqueous solution sealer shall be used after fabrication of the components for finishing the smooth edges of the poromeric/leather material. 3.3.4 Copper base alloys. The buckles and buttons (see 3.5.4) shall be made of a copper base alloy havi

22、ng a chemical composition of 84.0 to 86.0 percent copper, 0.05 percent maximum lead, 0.05 percent maximum iron, 0.15 percent maximum total other elements and the remaining percent zinc. The copper base alloy shall be free from pits, scale, (including red oxide), dents, nicks, cracks, deep scratches,

23、 segregation, and foreign inclusions which cannot be removed in later processing. Gold plating is optional. 3.3.5 Adhesive. The adhesive (see 6.5) shall be a natural or synthetic rubber solvent cement or synthetic resin cement. 3.3.6 Fastener, snap. The snap fasteners shall conform to style 2A, fini

24、sh 2 of MIL-F-10884 and NAS27981 and shall consist of the following components: buttons 1B, socket 3B, stud 4B, and eyelet 7B. The buttons shall have a black high gloss finish to match the basic material in 3.3.1. 3.3.7 Thread, cotton. The thread for all stitching operations shall be cotton, glazed

25、finish, ticket No. 10, 4-ply conforming to requirements for type III B of A-A-52094. As an alternate, nylon thread conforming to type II, class A, size E of V-T-295 may be used. 3.3.7.1 Color and colorfastness. The thread shall be dyed black. The dyed thread shall show good fastness to light when te

26、sted as specified in the thread specification. 3.4 Design. The belt shall be the U. S. Marine Corps design shown on Drawing No. 4-4-102, consisting of a waist belt and shoulder strap with one buckle (with center bar and two-hook type tongues; two-prong hook) for fastening belt, one buckle (with cent

27、er bar and single tongue) for attaching the shoulder strap to shoulder strap extension, 3 buttons with washers, two required for attaching shoulder strap and shoulder strap extension to shoulder strap tab and one required for securing end of belt to body of belt and two “Dee” Rings secured to waist

28、belt by waist belt tab for attaching shoulder strap components to waist belt. 3.5 Construction. The construction shall conform in all respects to Drawing No. 4-4-102 and as specified herein. 3.5.1 Class 1. The belt shall consist of one ply of poromeric material (3.3.1) and one ply of leather (3.3.2)

29、, with the flesh side of the leather cemented to the back of the poromeric with the adhesive specified in 3.3.5. The adhesive is required for cementing together the plies in order to obtain the required thickness (see 3.7). 3.5.2 Stitches and stitching. The stitch and stitching type specified herein

30、 shall conform to ASTM-D-6193. The number of stitches per inch as specified indicates the minimum and maximum number permitted. Stitch type 301 and 6 stitches per inch shall be used for all stitching. Thread breaks in stitching shall be backstitched not less than 1 inch at each break. Stitching shal

31、l be backstitched at the ends to prevent raveling. 32、 10 center of the sewed material. All thread ends shall be trimmed. Unless otherwise specified herein, edge stitching shall be 3/16 1/32 inch from the edge. 3.5.3 Metal components. The following metal components for the belt and shoulder strap shall be fabricated of the copper base allows specified

33、in 3.3.4: Buckle with center bar and two-hook type tongues; two-prong hook (one each required for fastening belt.) Buckle with center bar and single tongue (one required for joining shoulder strap to shoulder strap extension). Button with washer (two required for attaching shoulder strap and shoulde

34、r strap extension to shoulder strap tab). Button with washer (one required for securing end of belt to body of belt). “Dee” ring secured to waist belt by waist belt tab (two required for attaching shoulder strap components to waist belt). NOTE: See Drawing No. 4-4-102 for design and dimensions of ab

35、ove metal components. 3.5.4. Finished requirements. All surface and edges of the metal components shall be clean, smooth and free from burrs, drag step, tool marks, roughness, sharp edges and corners. In addition, all outer surfaces and edges of the metal components visible on the outside of the wai

36、st belt and shoulder strap shall be highly polished to a mirror-like finish. The highly polished finish does not apply to the button. The button shall be black. 3.5.5 Snap fasteners. The hole punched before inserting applicable snap fastener tube shall be smaller than the outside diameter of the tub

37、e so that the tube must be forced through the hole. All fasteners shall be securely clinched. 3.6 Marking. The size, name of manufacturer, NSN or Certification Number and contract number (if applicable) shall be ink stamped or gold leafed on the inside of both the belt and the shoulder strap. 3.7 Fi

38、nished measurements. The finished measurements of the waist belt and shoulder strap shall conform to the measurements specified in Drawing No. 4-4-102. The thickness of the poromeric and leather components shall be 1/8 1/32 inch. 3.8 Workmanship. The finished belt with shoulder strap shall conform t

39、o the quality and grade of product established by this specification, and shall be well made and finished free from any defect which may adversely affect appearance or serviceability. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels (AQLs). 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Clas

40、sification of Inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all inspection shall be performed in accordance with the test conditio

When first article is required, inspection shall be made of completely fabricated belt for all provisions of t

42、his specification. 4.4 Conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-1916 except where otherwise indicated hereinafter. 4.4.1 End item examination. The end item shall be examined for defects in 4.4.1.1 and 4.4.1.2. The inspection levels and AQLs shall

43、be as specified in 4.4.1.3. The sample unit for these examinations shall be one completely fabricated belt. The lot size shall be expressed in units of one belt. 4.4.1.1 Classification of defects. Defects shall be classified as follows, except when an asterisk appears, the defect shall be classified

44、 as Major when seriously affecting serviceability or appearance and Minor when affecting serviceability or appearance but not seriously.
