2、vailable for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers requirements for one type and size of an anti-exposure coverall hood. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications, standards, and handbooks. Unless

3、otherwise specified, the following specifications, standards, and handbooks of the issue listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. 8、specifications, standards, handbooks, drawings, and publications required by manufacturers in connection with specific acquisition functions should be obtained from the contracting activity or as directed by the contracting officer.) I 2.1.3 Order of.precedence. In the event of a conflict between th

9、e text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3 and 6.2.1). I $- 3.2 Materials and components. Materials and compone

10、nts shall conform to appli- cable specifications, standards, and drawings as listed or required herein. Unless otherwise specified; the materials and components, except for the metallic parts, used in the construction of the anti-exposure coverall hoods shall have been manu- factured not more than 1

11、2 months prior to the date of delivery of the anti-exposure coverall hoods. 3.3 Design and construction. The design and construction of the anti-exposure coverall hood shall be in accordance with Drawing 1414AS101. 3.3.1 Cutting. The hood shall be cut-in strict accordance with the patterns furnished

12、 by the Government (see 6.4), which show direction of the cloth, size, shape, placement of the loop, patch, oral inflation assembly, snap fasteners, sewn eyelet, pile fastener tape and notches or markings for the proper assembly of all the parts. The Government patterns shall not be altered in any m

13、anner and shall be used for making the working patterns. patterns. lay. The directional lines shall be in the warp direction. The working patterns shall be identical to the Government furnished The compon-ent parts of each.hood shall be cut from the same ply of the 3.3.2 Shade marking. The component

14、 parts shall be marked or ticketed, by any commercial method, or bundled with the top ply of each individual component part marked with the bundle number, to insure a uniform shade and.proper assembly through- out the hood. Shade markings may be accomplished by the use of ink pad numbering machine,

15、rubber stamp, or pencil, provided the markings do not show through to the outerside of the hood and are not deleterious to the cloth. Markings placed on the seam allowance shall . not be visible on the outerside. Adhesive tape shade tickets may be used for the shade markings (see 3.3.2.1). The assem

In all the cementing operations, the surface to which the adhesive is to be applied shall be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent in such a manner that the dusting materials (zinc stear

19、ate or talc) and any other sur- face contaminant is removed. should be exercised to insure that the coating and the base undercloth are not damaged and the adhesion between both is not impaired in any way by prolonged expo- sure to the solvent. The solvent used shall evaporate completely prior to th

20、e application of the adhesive and shall leave no residue, contain trapped air, channels or wrinkles. The adhesive shall be controlled to insure that old adhesive or adhesive which has partly or completely polymerized is not used. course of manufacture. being refilled. The color of the anti-exposure hood and the components shall be as specified on the applicable drawing. as specified in 4.6.1. The color shall be compared to the standard 3.5 Markings. The markings on the hood shall b

32、e in accordance with MIL-STD-130 and Drawing 1414AS101. 3.5.1 Serial numbers. Serial numbers (required by Drawing 1414AS101) shall-be assigned by tke manufacturer. numbers to cover the entire acquisition document quantity (see 6.2.le). Serialization shall be by a block of consecutive 3.6 Performance

33、 inspection, 3.6.1 Leakage. When inspected as specified-in 4.6.3, the pressure in the hood shall not drop below 1.5 inches (water column). The seams and attachments shall . remain perfectly intact and shall show no indication of separation. There shall be no evidence of constructional or material fa

34、ilure in any respect. There shall be no evidence that the air entering the hood chamber is hindered by the misplacement of the reinforcing patch or that the front or back of the oral inflation valve or the opening in the oral inflation tube is blocked by excess adhesive, zinc stearate, talc, or othe

35、r foreign matter. difficulty, shall shut off the flow of air completely, and shall not be blocked by an excess adhesive, talc, zinc stearate, or other foreign matter, or by damage to- the oral inflation valve due to clamping together of the oral inflation valve and tube. the bond between the oral in

37、e cloth. The hood shall be free of holes, tears, cuts, mends, spots, or stains. The metal components shall not be misaligned or contain any nicks, burrs, metal slivers, cracks, or sharp edges, Because of the emergency and life support use of this hood, the importance of providing a product of unifor

38、mly excellent quality cannot be overemphasized. hoods shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which could adversely affect performance, reliability, or durability. The hoods shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specifica- tion. Th

39、e occurrence of defects shall not exceed the acceptance criteria estab- lished herein. The 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec- tion requiremen

40、ts as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, un- less disapproved by the Government: The Government reserves the right to

42、 OLIOLIb 7 W MIL-H-81500A (AS) 4.1.1 Test equipment and inspection facilities. The manufacturer shall insure that test and inspection facilities of sufficient accuracy, quality and quantity are established and maintained to permit performance of required inspections. 4.2 Classification of inspection

43、. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection. First article inspection consists of examinations and tests performed on samples which are representative of the production item after the award of a contract to determine that the production item

44、meets the requirements of this specification (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection con- sists of examinations and tests performed on individual products or lots to determine conformance of the products or lots with the re- quirements set forth in this specifica

45、tion (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. The first article inspection of the anti-exposure coverall hoods shall consist of examinations and tests for all of the requirements of this specification. 4.3.1 First article samples Unless otherwise specified, as soon as practi- cable after the award o

46、f the contract or order, thesmanufacturer shall submit three hoods. The samples shall be representative of the construction, workmanship, components and materials to be used during production. continuous production of these hoods from contract to contract, submission of further first article samples

47、 on the new contract may be waived at the discretion of the acquiring activity (see 6.2.ld). Approval of the first article samples or the waiving of the first article inspection does notwaive the requirements for performing the quality conformance inspection. The first article samples shall be forwa
