Copies of this specification and appli- cable specifications required by contractors in connection with specific procurement functions may be obtained upon application to the Command-
、ing Officer, Naval Supply Depot, Code DCS, 5801 Tabor Avenue, Philadelphia 20, Pennsylvania. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Parts and Materials - In the selection of parts and materials, fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. In so doing, the following shall govern: (1) Parts
、and material requirements shall conform to Specification MIL-E-5400. (2) Nonrepairable subassemblies, as outlined in Specification MIL-E- 5400, shall be used when practicable. The general size of the subassembly and the amount of circuitry to be included therein shall be approved by the procuring ac
、tivity. Nonrepairable subassemblies must be reliable. (See O. 8. ) (3) When previously produced models of these equipments did not use nonrepair- able subassemblies, the design shall not be changed to employ nonrepairable assemblies without the approval of the procuring activity. 3.1.1 Nonstandard P
、arts and Material Approval - Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials shall be obtained as outlined in Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.1.2 Electron Devices - Electron tubes, transistors and diodes shall be chosen and applied, and the complements reported as outlined in Specification MIL-E
、-4682. The complement report must be submitted to the procuring activity for review and approval prior to preproduction testing. 3.2 Design and Construction - 3.2.1 General - The central shall conform with all the applicable requirements of Specifica- tion MIL-E-5400 for design, construction, and wo
、rkmanship unless otherwise specified herein or in the individual equipment specifications. * 3.2.2 Total Weight - The weight of the central, excluding cables, shall be a minimum consistent with good design and shall not exceed 222.5 pounds. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networkin

、0 where possible except that for the KY-311(*)/ASQ-19, ease of maintenance shall have primary consideration. The following considerations shall apply where practicable. (1) Modules shall be of standardized form and dimensions to facilitate use in other equipment of different over-all configuration a
、nd shall be designed for maximum practical effectiveness of cooling air supplied by or to the equipment. (2) Each module shall contain the circuitry of one or more functions of the equipment to facilitate testing and repair. The equipment shall be divided into as many modular units as is electricall
、y and physically practical in keeping with efficient space utilization, equipment performance and reliability. (3) It shall be possible to operate the equipment with one or more modules removed from the chassis but connected to it electrically by means of one or more extension cable assemblies and b
、y use of mechanical extenders when required. (4) It shall be possible to replace any module with other modules of the same type and obtain specified equipment performance with only minor readjustments. 3.2.4 Operating Life - 3.2.4.1 Operational Stability - The central shall operate with optimum perf
、ormance for 50 hours, continuously or intermittently, without the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible during flight. 3.2.4.2 Total Operating Life - The central shall have a minimum total operating life of 5000 Parts requiring replacement within this hours with reasonabl
、e servicing and replacement of parts. interval and the life of such parts shall be specified by the manufacturer. Specification MIL-M-7793 and MS17322( ) shall be included in the following: * 3.2.4. 3 Time Totalizing Meter - A time totalizing meter conforming, as applicable, with RT-546/ASQ- 19 RT-
