This specification covers lithium bromide for use in lithium bromide air conditioning plants. 1.2 Classification. REQUIREMENTS 3.
15、1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.4) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 TYDe I formulation. 3.2.1 Material. The powdered lithium bromide anhydrous shall conform to the requirements specified herein and shall be free of all chemical inh

The lithium bromide brine shall be a clear, colorless solution which shall conform to the requirements specified herein and shall

The specific gravity of the lithium bromide shall be between 1.56 and 1.60 at 25 degrees Celsius (OC) (77 degrees Fahrenheit
22、 (OF) when tested as specified in 4.7.2.1. 3.4 Material safety data sheet (MSDSZ. The contracting activity shall be provided with a Material Safety Data Sheet at the time of the contract award. MSDS shall be provided in accordance with the requirements of FED-STD-313. MSDS shall be included with eac

Unless otherwise specified herein, all equipment, material, and articles incorporated in the products covered by this specification shall be new and may be fabricated using materials produced from reco
24、vered materials to the maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing the intended use. The term “recovered materials“ means materials which have been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. that the use of use

QUALITY ASSURANC
26、E PROVISIONS 4.1 ResDonsibiitv for insDection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order,
27、 the contractor may use his or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Gov- ernment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specifications where such inspections are dee
28、med necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 ResDonsibilitv for comDliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality
29、 program. absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies sub- mitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufactur
30、ing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements; however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. The 4.1.2 Toxicological Droduct formulations. The c
31、ontractor shall have the toxicological product formulations and associated information available for review by the contracting activity to evaluate the safety of the material for the proposed use. O 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as foll
32、ows: (a) First article inspection (see 4.3). (b) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article insoection. First article inspection shall be performed on two samples of the formulation being tested and shall consist of the exami- nations and tests specified in 4.6 and 4.7 for type I an
33、d type II formulations, respectively (see 6.4). to any applicable requirements, the contractor shall investigate and correct the root cause of the discrepancy, revise associated process instructions, and retest samples to determine the effectiveness of corrective action. 34、ticle sample does not conform 4.4 Oualitv conformance insDection. Quality conformance inspection shall be performed on every lot submitted to the Government, and shall consist of the examination specified in 4.5 and the examinations and tests specified in 4.6 and 4.7 for type I and type II formulati
35、ons, respectively (see 6.3). 4.4.1 m. For the purpose of quality conformance inspection sampling, a lot shall consist of lithium bromide prepared in one continuous, homogenous batch of raw materials, without any addition or change in composition or processing procedure. The introduction of any ingre
36、dient or process change shall constitute a new lot. As a minimum, the contra
37、ctor shall select in accordance with table III, a sample quantity of filled containers from each lot and inspect them in accordance with 4.5. Detection of any nonconforming characteristics or weight shall result in rejection of the entire lot. The contractor has the option of correcting the discrepa
38、ncy, rein- specting, and resubmitting a conforming lot, or submitting a new lot which shall be inspected as specified herein. Sample size (containers) Table III. From each lot of type I and type II formulation, the first, middle and last containers filled shall be selected. From each selected container of type I formulation, a one pound sample shall be drawn, pla
40、ced in separate, clean, dry containers, and labeled to identify the lot represented. From each selected container of type II formulation, a two pound sample shall be drawn, placed in an airtight container, and labeled to iden- tify the lot represented. Each sample shall be subjected to the tests spe
41、cified in 4.6 for type I formulation and 4.7 for type II formulation. The balance of the samples shall be reserved for possible retest until acceptance by the Government. The contractor shall maintain for a period of three years after contract comple- tion, records of inspections, tests, and resulti
42、ng rejections and corrective act ion. 4.4.4 Nonconformance. If a nonconformance is found in any sample, the entire lot shall be rejected. The contractor has the option of screening, cor- recting, and retesting 100% of the lot or submitting a new lot which shall be tested as required herein. 4.5 Exam
43、ination of filled containers. Each container selected in accord- ance with 4.4.2 shall be examined for defects of the containers and the closure, for evidence of leakage, and for unsatisfactory markings. shall be measured to determine the volume of the contents. Type I and type II formulations shall
44、 be weighed to determine conformance to 5.2.1 and 5.2.2, respectively. 45、 S to Cd 4.6.1.1 Calcium and mamesium content. The calcium and magnesium content shall be determined by the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method in accord- ance with ASTM D 511, method B. as specified in table I. The calcium and magnesium concentrations shall be 4.6.1.2 Iron content. The iron
46、 content shall, be determined by the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method in accordance with ASTM D 1068. concentration shall be as specified in table I. The iron 4.6.1.3 Sulfate content. The sulfate analysis shall be made in accordance with ASTM D 516, method A, the gravimetric method. Sulfa
47、te content shall be as specified in table I. 4.6.1.4 Instrumental Analysis. For Ca, Mg, Fe, and SO, using Inductively Coupled Plasma/Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP). The LiBr materials are ana- lyzed by ICP using matrix matched samples and standards containing an internal standard solution. The f
