13、. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article - The light furnished under this specification shall be a product which has been inspected and passed the first article inspection specified herein (see 4.3). 14、8 (AS) 3.2 Selection of specifications and standards - Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.3 Materials - Materials shall conform to the applicable specifications and shall be as specified herein

15、and on the applicable drawings. Materials which are not covered by applicable specffications or standards shall be of the best quality, and entirely suitable for the purpose intended. 3.3.1 Metals - All metal parts shall be of a corrosion-resistant type. 3.3.1.1 Mss imilar metals - Dissimilar metals

16、 shall not be used in intimate contact unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion. Metal plating or metal spraying of dissimilar base metals to provide similar or suitable abutting surfaces is permitted. The use of dissimilar metals separated by a suitable insulat- ing material is also

17、 permitted. Dissimilar metals are defined in MS33586. 3.3.1.2 Solder - Solder for electrical connections shall be type SN-60 in accord- ance with QQ-S-571, either plain or fluxcore. If flux is used, it shall be resin in accordance with the requirements of MIL-S-6872 and MIL-F-14256. 3.4 Design and c

19、0 Y m 3.7.2.3 Insulation - Energized parts of the light shall be insulated to prevent short-circuiting and to eliminate the possibility of personnel coming in contact with live equipment. The light shall meet all the applicable requirements of the Under- writers Laboratories (U. L. ) Standard 153 in

20、 regards to fire and casualty hazards. 3.7.2.3.1 Sleeving - Electrical insulation sleeving shall be in accordance with MIL-1-7444, 3.7.2.4 Wiring, external - The external power cable for the light shall have three number 18, American Wire Gage (AWG) wires connected and color coded as shown in Figure

21、 4. The power cable shall have a minimum length of six feet. The free end of the power cord shall be terminated with a MS3107A-20-4P electrical con- nector that is in accordance with MIL-C-5015. The power cord shall be protected with a suitable grommet and strain relief at the point the cord enters

22、the light assembly base. Wire shall be in accordance with MIL-C-3432, Class MD, flexible (F) type. 3.7.2.5 Wiring, internal - The internal wiring of the light assembly shall be fully enclosed. A grounding wire (green) shall be connected to the same point that the input power cord green wire is conne

23、cted and also electrically connected to the light assembly reflector. Wire shall be in accordance with MIL-C-3432, Class MD, flexible (F) type* 3.8 Part numbering of interchangeable parts - All parts having the same manu- facturers part number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable.

24、 item identification and part number requirements of MIL-D-1000/1 shall govern the manufacturers part numbers and changes thereto. The 3.9 Dimensions - Dimensions shall be as shown on Figure 1. Dimensions that are not shown shall be as small as practicable. 3.10 Weight - The light, including all of

25、its components, shall not weigh more than 30 pounds. 3.11 Color and finish - Metal parts that are corrosion-resistant steel shall be chromium or nickel plated. The inside surfaces of the lamp reflector shall be painted glossy white in accordance with FED-STD-595, color number 17875. The exterior sur

26、faces of other metal parts shall be painted light gray, semi-gloss in accordance with FED-STD-595. 28、h light shall be provided with a nameplate permanently - affixed to the light assembly base. The nameplate shall be engraved or etched with markings in accordance with MIL-STD-130. 3.12.2 Caution note - A caution note shall be engraved or etched on a plate and permanently affixed to the lamp reflect

29、or in a conspicuous place near the lens. The note shall contain the following information: CAUTION. Keep lens out of direct sunlight. 3.13 Workmanship - The light shall be constructed and finished in a thoroughly workmanlike manner. Particular attention shall be paid to neatness and thoroughness of

30、soldering, welding, brazing, painting, wiring, alignment of parts and tightness of assembly screws and bolts; and also to freedom from burrs and sharp edges. Units shall be thoroughly cleaned of loose, spattered or excess solder, resin, metal chips and other foreign material. The cleaning methods us

31、ed shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shall any of the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agents employed. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection - Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance

32、of all inspection re- quirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any other facilities suitable for the per- forman- of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The G

33、overnment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure the supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspection - The inspection of the light shall be classified as foll

34、ows: (a) First article inspection (4.3). 36、.6.5) (4.6.6) (4.6.7) (4.6.8) (4.6.9) 4.3.1 Sampling for first article inspection - Unless otherwise specified, as soon as practicable after award of a contract or order, the contractor shall furnish one light for-inspection to determine conformance with this specification. The sample shall be ident

37、ified with the manufacturers part number and contract number and shall be in- spected as specified herein and in accordance with the contract or order (see 6.2). i 8, 4.4 Quality conformance inspection - The quality conformance inspection shall consist of the individual inspections and sampling test

38、s. * 4.4.1 Individual inspection - Each light on the contract or order shall be subjected to the following inspections. Any light containing a defect or failing to pass the inspec- tion shall be rejected. (a) Examination (b) Illuminance test (c) Field of view test (d) Abberations test (4.6.1) (4.6.2

Sample For Acceptance Quantity Submitted For Acceptance I Sample Size 4.5 Test conditions - Unless otherwise specified, lights shall be subjected to inspection under the following ambient conditions : (a) Temperature 25 degrees C, plus 15 degrees, (b) Altitude Normal ground (c) H

42、umidity 90 percent or less minus 5 degrees C 4.6 Inspection methods - 4.6.1 Examination - The light shall be thoroughly examined to determine conform- ance with this specification and applicable drawings with respect to all the requirements not covedd by tests specified herein. 4.6.1.1 The light sha

43、ll be examined to ascertain that the preparation for delivery conforms to this specification. 4.6.2 illuminance test - The light shall be turned on in a darkened area. A direct light measurement shall be made with a light meter positioned 13.13 inches ( 1/3 meter) from the lens, The light shall prod

44、uce an illuminance of at least 125-foot-candles. 4.6.3 Field of view test - The light shall be placed on a flat level surface and the magnifier lens positioned so that it is -13.13 inches (1/3 meter) from and parallel to the flat level surface. An optical test target conforming to Figure 5 shall be

45、placed on the flat level surface, with the target circle center positioned on the principal axis of the magnifier within plus or minus O. 05 inch. The inspectors eyes shall be centered about the principal axis of the lens and ten inches from the lens. The entire outside circle of the target shall be

47、n the smaller circle of the test target when viewed through the magnifier with the test conditions as specified in 4.6.3. 4.6.5 Dielectric strength test - A test voltage of 900 plus or minus 10 volts, rms, 60 hertz shall be applied for 1 plus or minus O. 1 minute between the base and the current car

48、rying parts of the light. There shall be no evidence of insulation breakdown. 4.6.6 Switch test - The switch shall be subjected to 6,000 cycles of operation. Operation of the switch to one ifoff“ and one ffonlf setting shall constitute one cycle. The load imposed on the switch shall be 250 watts and

49、 150 volts. Opening and closing the circuit shall be at a rate of 20 times per minute. There shall be no evidence of break- down, malfunction, or failure during the test. 4.6.7 Environmental tests - 4.6.7.1 High temperature test - The light shall be maintained in a test chamber at plus 85 degrees C (plus 185 degrees F) for at least 48 hours. The internal chamber relative humidity shal
