These technical maniials shall provide general and

8、 specific instruc- tions required to perform periodic organizational and intermediate level maintenance for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) , Airborne Weapons and Airborne Armament Equipment. Coverage shall be included for vendor procured components. The source and degree of . information applicable

9、to Governement Furnished Equipment (GFE) shal I be specified by the procuring activity. 3.1.1 Reference. When preparing manuals to the provisions of this specifi- cation , the contractor shall reflect the concepts of the Naval Aircraft Maintenance Program and the Naval Avia

11、tion Maintenance and Material Management Manual. Tasks and resources (spport information and material) shall be established or defined by sound engineering principles and techniques, engineering analysis , service ex- perience, performance dataron similar items, and applicable reliability and main-

12、tainability data. 3.1.3 Exclusions. Instructions of a general nature, standard shop practices , re- pairs, means of rectifying defective conditions or trouble shooting to find causes of malfunctions shall be excluded. 3.1.4 As specified by the procuring activity, Types I and Il manuals shall be iden

15、2.1 Preparation. Except as specified herein, preparation shall be in general accordance with MIL-M-38784. 3.2.2 Printing. When printing is specified, it shall be in accordance with MIL-P- 38790 backed up head to toe. 3.2.3 Paper stock. These manuals shall be printed on i10 pound, 25 percent, type B

16、index stock (JCPK20) per UU-P-258. 3.2.3.1 Color. The front shall be divided into a title block 1-7/8 x 4-1/4 iticlies, equipinent illus- trati:,n/work area section 1-5/8 x 4-1/4 inches and text section 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches (Appendix A). Type II - The iiiiage area shall be

18、 4-1/4 x 7-1/4 inches. 3.2.6 Type size and face. Shall be in general accordance with MIL-M-38784 except the printed finished text size shall be 6 point for Type I Manuals and 9 point for Type II Manuals. Title block for Type I Manuals shall be prepared as illustrated in Figure 1, Sheet 1. Title and

19、“A“ cards for Type II Manuals shall be prepared as illustrated in Figure 2, Sheet 1. 3.2.7 Ink, All printing shall be in permanent black ink. 3.2.8 Puncliiiig. Type I Manuals shall not be punched. Punching for Type II Man- uals shall consist of 14 slots 3/16 inch high, 5/16 inch wide and 9/16 inch o

20、n centers, centered along the 8-inch top edge. The edge of the slots shall be 1/4 inch from the top edge of the card. 3.2.9 Binding. Type I Manuals require no binding. Type II Manuals shall be bound with a 2-inch brown Manila paper band. 3.2.10 Cover. The title Card shall form the cover for Type II

21、Manuals only. 3.2.11 Changes and revisions. Changes and revisions to the MRCs shal I be pre- pared as specified by the procuring activity in accordance with MIL-M-38784. Type I Manuals are adaptable to revisions only , Type II Manuals may be changed or revised. 3.2.12 Abbreviations. The use of abbre

22、viations shall be held to aii absolute mini- mum. Required abbreviations used will be in accordance with MIL-STD-12 when applicable, or shall be in consonance with applicable source data and existing weapons system technical manual s. 4 . - , -. Tlie security classification of the maniialc sliall be specified by the procuring activity , and shall lie marked it1 accordance with MIL- M-3 87 84. 3.2.14 Nomenclature. Nomenclature shall be standardized t

24、hroughout these tech- nical manuals. The nomenclature used shall be in consonance with applicable source data and existing technical manuals. 3.2.15 Designations. Text in these manuals shall be limited to that pertaining to the models of equipment designated in the title. To facilitate later incorpo

25、ration of additional series (type, model , serial number effectivity), reference to type or model designation shall be held to a minimum consistent with clarity. These references shall be expressed in definite terms, such as type or model, serial number range or similar means identified where applic

26、able (Figure 1 , Sheet 2 Item 8). 3.2.16 Illustrations. Illustrations shall be prepared in accordance with MIL-M-38784. 3.2.17 Warnings, cautions and notes. Warnings, cautions and notes shall be provided in general accordance with MIL-M-38784 in the manner illustrated in Figure 4 , Sheets 2 and 4. 3

27、.2.17.1 Safety. These technical manuals shall indicate all safety precautions to be observed during the performance of the maintenance requirements. 3.3 Arrangement and format, 3.3.1 General. Type I Manuals shall be limited to a single card. Type II Manuals shall have a title card, “A“ card, preface

28、 cards, task cards and an operational or functional check card arranged as specified herein. 3.3.2 Task cards. These cards shall contain minimum periodic maintenance require- ments for a model or like models of specific equipment. They shall contain step by step procedures , when detailed procedures

29、 are necessary , to insure accuracy of accompl ish- ment. When the text exceeds reasonable card space or results in inordinate duplication of other pub1 ications , appropriate reference to these pub1 cat ions shal I be made (refer to 3.1.1). Specific information shall be provided as necessary for ma

30、intenance personnel to perform inspection tasks which verify the existence of proper conditions or reveal degradation of equipment. Requirements shall include clearances, tolerances, pres- sures, operating vaIues/Iimits, etc. They shall also include special tooIs/equipment, consuinables and replacem

31、ent parts necessary to perform tasks as presented in Figure 1 , Sheet 1 and Figure 4, Sheet 1. 32、AS) 3.3.3 Format coiiteiil. 3.3.3.1 Title. Type I title block shall be as shown in Figure 1 , Sheet 1. Type II title card shall be as shown in Figure 2, 3.3.3.2 “A“ card. This card as illustrated in Figure 2 shall be included in Type II Manuals only. 3.3.3.3 Preface cards. These cards shall be inclu

Two cards are presented , only one shall be used.

35、The selection of this card depends on the type equipment covered in the card set, e.g., a power driven unit with an hour/start utilization will require the card that will allow planned usage to be equated to a calendar period. Equipment that can be readily adapted to calendar periodicity , without c

36、oncern to hour/start utilization, will require the card that cites a specific calendar period. 3.3.3.4 Task cards. Type II Manuals shall be numbered sequentially in Arabic num- bers as shown in Figure 4, Sheets 1 through 4. The front of the first card shall be iiuinbered 1 and the back (including il

37、lustrations) shall be numbered 1.1. The second card shall be iiuinbered 2 on the front and 2.1 on the back. Where additional cards are required, decimal format cards (see Appendix B) shall be used and numbered with decimal suffixes, e.g., 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, etc. When tasks are continued on addi- tional

38、cards, the lower right corner of card 1.1 and each odd decimal card thereafter, as necessary, shall include the word continued“ to indicate the continuation of re- lated tasks as shown in Figure 4, Sheet 1. The words End of Card“ shall be printed in the lower right corner of the card on which the ta

39、sks are concluded as shown in Figure 4, Sheet 2. An expedient to enable proper sequencing of additional require- ments, pursuant to a change and pending a revision, may be accomplished by adding a new card to an existing card set. The new card shall be identified by utilizing an appropriate existing

41、the-shoulder. The quality assurance inspector shall observe the work being performed by the mechanic where necessary while the task is being accomplished. In this instance, a note shall be added to the mechanics card that over-the-shoulder QA is required. 6) After work is completed. The quality assu

42、rance inspector shall inspect the completed work in the designated work area. 3.4 ,Technical content 3.4.1 Maintenance requirements. The manuals shall provide the preoperational and calendar maintenance requirements necessary to maintain the equipment covered in the specification. The requirements s

43、hall be presented in a clear, concise and logical manner. Each requirement shall be complete and technically accurate, using approved maintenance practices and procedures based on factual data and experience. Torque values shall be indicated in high and low limits; other measurement values, e.g. , p

44、res- sures, voltages, clearances, etc. , may be indicated in either + and - or high and low limits, as appropriate. 3.4.1.1 Preoperational maintenance requirements. Preoperational maintenance re- quirements shall provide instructions to verify that the equipment has been properly inspected and servi

45、ced. 3.4.1.1.1 Application. Preoperational maintenance (inspection and service) require- ments shall be accomplished in a logical wal k-around sequence. When applicable, an operationaI/functional check shall be provided. 3.4.1.1.2 Content. The requirements shall be tailored to the design and operati

46、on of the equipment for their accomplishment either prior to the first use of the day, or prior to each use as applicable. When the equipment design and operation permits a prior to the first use of the day inspection, the periodicity shall be entered in Block 3 (Appen- dix A) as shown in Figure 1 ,

An operational/fiinctional check shall be the last card in this set with the prescribed interval of the basic inspection. 3.4.1.2.2 Content

49、. The calendar requirements should clearly establish inspection procedures that will detect material degradation that may have occurred during the pre- ceding calendar period. The inspection shall include operationaI/functionaI and cal i- bration checks. Calibration requirements shall be included except those beyond the capability of intermediate level maintenance or the scope of the maintenance require- me
