REQUIREMENTS3.1 Qualification.- The pumps and motors furnished under this specifica-tion shall be products which have been tested and have passed the qualificationtests specified herein (see 6.2).3.1.1 Manufacturers submitting pumps or motors for qualification testingshall include complete tec

14、 or equal to the applicable specification specifiedin section 2. Nodular iron and “mechanite“ castings in accordance with Speci-fications MIL-I-17166 and QQ-I-652 respectively shall be considered for pumpand motor cases, end caps, covers, bases, and similar items. Castings shallbe clean, homogeneous

15、 and entirely suitable for oil hydraulic power transmissionservice. Impregnation of nonferrous castings for the purpose of sealing minorporosity will be given consideration upon application to the bureau or agency con-cerned for permission to use the process. The impregnation process, where usedshal

16、l be in accordance with Specification MIL-I-17414.(seeduty3.3 General design.-3.3.1 Sizes.- Pumps and motors shall be furnished in sizes as specified6.1).3.3.2 Pumps and motors shall be suitable for either standard or heavyservice. Standard duty shall render a minim urn varying service of5000 hours

17、Heavy duty shall render a minim urn varying service of 10,000 hours(see 6. 1).3.3.3 Ruggedness.- Pumps and motors shall be of substantial construction,Design shall be in accordance with best m odern engineering practice, Thereshall be no excessive vibration of moving parts under any conditions of op

18、erationup to and including 115 percent of rated speed. Pumps and motors shall operatewithout loss in performance at any position from normal up to 30 degrees eitherside of normal, such positions being due to roll of the ship on which the equip-ment is installed.3.3.4 Factor of safety.- Stresses unde

19、r normal full-load condition shallnot exceed 35 percent of the minimum urn yield point of the material used and, underextreme loading (for example, impact loading) the combined stresses shall notexceed 70 percent of the minim urn tensile yield point (t.y.p.) of the material used.The following yield

21、permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.3.5.2 Motors.- Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order,hydraulic m motors shall be designed for flanges or bracket mounting direct toa reduction gear case or to the supporting structure of the driven member ofthe assembly (see 6.1).3.3.6 Bearings.

22、- In general, all anti-friction bearings used in pumpsand motors shall comply with Specifications 42B5 and 42B10, as applicable.The exception will be the rotating element in class I and II pumps where aspecial type bearing may be required.3.3.7 Drive shafts.- Splined or keyed drive shafts shall be f

23、urnishedas specified (see 6.1 ) or in the applicable machinery purchase specifications,Shafts shall project sufficiently to permit attachment of a coupling, drive gearor pinion of a size suitable for the particular pump or motor. Keys shall befurnished with keyed drive shafts.3.3.8 Direction of rota

24、tion.- All pumps shall be designed to rotate in aclockwise direction unless otherwise specified in the contract or order. Allmotors shall be designed for reversing service. Rotation shall be determinedwhile facing the drive shaft of the unit.3.3.9 Operating speeds.- Pump drive speeds shall be the hi

25、ghest practi-cable for the particular size and type. Speeds shall be selected on the basis ofproviding for direct coupling of the pump to its prime mover and minimumizationof space requirements. Hydraulic motor speeds shall be consistent with thespeed of pumps of the same type and size.3.3.10 Parts

26、clearances and interchangeability.- Clearances between allworking parts shall be sufficient to insure satisfactory operation between theminimum and maximum temperatures specified in 3.3.13. Parts, assembliesand subassemblies shall be interchangeable between units of the same class, sizeand manufactu

27、re.3.3.11 Fastenings.- AU threaded fastenings used to secure one part ofa hydraulic pump or motor to another shall be American National form and fitin accordance with Handbook H28.3.3.12 Pipe connections.- All suction, discharge and drain ports throughthe case or end cover of pumps and motors shall

28、terminate in bosses cast on thecase or cover. Bosses shall be suitably finished for attachment of square orrectangular male type flanges. Flanges and seals for each connection shall befurnished by the pump or motor manufacturer and shall be in accordance withPublication NAVORD OSTD63.5Provided by IH

29、SNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-P-17869A(SHIPS)3.3.12.1 Pipe connection sizes.-3.3.12.1.1 Pumps.- Size of pressure ports and pipe flanges at normallyrated output shall be such that velocity of the hydraulic fluid through the con-nected pipe wil

30、l not exceed 20 feet per second. Suction ports shall be of a sizeto permit entry of fluid at a velocity of not more than 5 feet per second atnormally rated output. Where a pump is used in a closed hydraulic power trans-mission circuit and the pump intake is supercharged or replenished, suctionand pr

31、essure ports may be of the same size, that is, that which will limit fluidvelocity to 20 feet per second.3.3.12.1.2 Motors.- Pressuresthat will limit fluid velocity in and outand discharge ports shall be of a sizeof the motor to 20 feet per second atnormal rated speed.3.3.13 Operating temperature ra

32、nge.- Pumps and motors shall operatesatisfactorily at fluid discharge temperatures between Ol and 160F. Pumpsand motors shall operate at fluid suction temperatures between Ol and 160F.3.3.14 Hydraulic fluid.- Pumps and motors shall be designed to operateefficiently using any of the hydraulic fluids

33、specified in Specification MIL-L-15017or MIL-L-17331, as applicable.3.3.15 Lubrication.- Pumps and motors shall be self-lubricating by meansof the fluid circulating within the case.3.3.16 Pressure pulsation.- Pumps shall be designed to deliver a steadyflow of fluid without pressure pulsation of more

34、 than 5 percent above or belowcontinuous rated working pressure. This allowance shall become uniformly lessat operating pressures less than rated working pressure.3.3.17 Vibration and noise.-3.3.17.1 Class I, II, and III pumps and motors shall be designed andbuilt so as to m inimize vibratory forces

35、 which may cause undue vibration, noiseand wear.3.3.17.2 Class IV and V pumps and motors shall be balanced in accordance-with type II (internally excited vibration of Standard MIL-STD-167). The methodof applying balance correction shall be left to the discretion of the manufacturer.Vibration measure

37、luid and cavitation in all classes of pumps and motors shall be mini-mized by proper design.3.3.18 Weight and dimensions.- Pump and motor design shall providefor keeping overall weight and size at a minimum. The latest methods andmaterials shall be considered in the design. Determination of acceptab

38、le sizeand weight will be based on equipment previously and presently in serviceaboard Naval ships.3.3.19 Painting.- External surfaces of pumps and motors shall be paintedfor protection and good appearance. Painting, where used, shallconsist of twocoats of zinc chromate primer confirming to Specific

39、ation JAN-P-735, and onecoat of enamel in accordance with class 2 of Specification MIL-E-15090. Theinside of pump and motor cases, where in contact with hydraulic fluid, shallnot be painted.3.3.20 Shock.- The pump and motor, or both shall withstand the shocktest specified in 4.10.18.3.4 Design detai

40、l.-3.4.1 Class I and class II.-3.4.1.1 Working pressures.- Class I and class II pumps and motors shallbe suitable for continuous working pressures up to and including 3,000 poundsper square inch. Intermittent operation (see 4.10. 5) at 150 percent of rated con-tinuous working pressure shall be possi

41、ble. It shall also be possible to subjectpumps and motors to static pressures equivalent to 200 percent of rated workingpressure (see 6.3).3.4.1.2 Efficiency.- Volumetric efficiency shall be not less than 90 per-cent and mechanical efficiency not less than 85 percent under full load conditionsand at

42、 100” Fahrenheit (F.) oil temperature. At 160”F. oil temperatures(see 3.3. 13), efficiency shall riot drop more than 5 percent.3.4.1.3 Relief and replenishment valves.- Relief valves shall be includedin all pumps. Replenishment valves shall also be included when specified(see 6.1). These valves shal

43、l be readily accessible for maintenance and repair.3.4.1.4 Integral auxiliary pumps.- Where practicable, as determined fromsize, space and particular application, pumps shall be furnished with integralservo pressure and replenishment pumps. In general, pumps having a 25 horse-power (hp.) rating and

45、class I and class IIvariable delivery pumps shall provide for including reversing control. Thebare control stem or lever and related parts shall have low inertia so as tocontribute toward use of small and compact manual or automatic control operat-ing devices, Effort to operate the control stem or l

46、ever shall be reasonly uniformon either side of no delivery position. This effort shall be kept to a minimum urn soas to be of advantage in designing small and compact control operating mecha-nisms. The type of control operating device furnished and effort figures shallbe as specified (see 6.1). Typ

47、es of control that may be required are as follows:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(f)Manual push-pull control - This type of control shallconsist of a stem, projecting, through the pump case,which can be pushed or pulled manually to regulatepump delivery between maximum and minimum.Manual rotary handwheel - This typ

48、e of control shallconsist of a lead screw, projecting through the pumpcase, which is fitted with a handwheel suitable formanual rotation of the screw. By manual rotation ofthe handwheel, the pump delivery may be regulatedbetween maximum amd minimum.Hydraulic cylinder control - This type of control s

49、hallconsist of a hydraulic cylinder actuated by an externalpressure source. By metering oil to the cylinder,using an appropriate manually or automatically con-trolled valve, the pump delivery may be variedbetween maximum and minimum.Servo piston control - This type of control shallconsist of a booster or amplifier supplied by anexternal pressure source. Linear or rotary move-ment of the booster control stern manually or by meansof selsyns, solenoid
