9、ations. - The following document forms a part of this specification to the extent speci- fk%herein. Unless otherwise indicated, the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal shall apply. OFFICIAL CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE Uniform Freight Classification Rules. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Preproduction sample, - Prior to beginning production, a sample precipitator shall be examined and tested as specified in 4.2 (see 6,3). 3.2 Materials. -

11、 All materials forming a part of the finished product shall be suitable for the purpose intended. The materials shall be free from any defects that might affect the serviceability or appearance of the finished product. Materials shall be in conformance with the requirements specified herein. 3.2.1 i

12、nsulation materials. - insulation materials and application techniques shall conform to MIL-E- 917. Class A or B insulation material shall be used and shall be flame and arc resistant and non-toxic. 3.2.2 Corrosion protection. - Corrosion-resisting steel, copper and brass referenced herein are con-

13、sidered satisfactory corrosion-resisting materials. Corrosion-resisting steel, when fabricated by any method that tends to reduce corrosion-resisting properties, shall be normalized to restore those properties before being assembled in any unit. 3.2.2.1 Parts fabricated from other than corrosion-res

14、isting materials and those parts in direct con- tact with the oil mist shall be protected against corrosion after fabrication with chemicals, electrolytic pro- cesses, plating or suitable paints and enamels. The following methods, while not restrictive are acceptable corrosion-protection methods whe

15、n properly applied: (a) Hot-dipped galvanized. (b) Hot phosphate process with rust-inhibiting paint. (c) Electroplated cadmium followed by dichromate, or hot-phosphate treatment or water -dip lacquer, 3.2.2.2 All bolts, nuts, studs, screws and such other fastenings or fittings as may be used shall b

16、e of a corrosion-resisting material, or of a material treated in a manner to render it adequately resistant to corrosion. Self-tapping screws with sheet metal threads shall not be used. 3.3 General design. - The vent fog electrostatic precipitator shall be suitable for operation over an airflow rang

17、e from zero to 10 cubic feet per minute (c.f. m.). The precipitator shall consist of an integral power supply unit for converting alternating current input voltage to high voltage direct current (d. c. ), and ionizing electrode and repelling electrode which shall be located concentrically inside a g

18、rounded collector, d flame arrester screen, and a flange for mounting the equipment in a vent piping. as an integral part of the precipitator, for securing sway braces and intermediate supports to be used in iiistallation to minimize vibration and shock, Means shall be provided, 3.3.1 General shipbo

19、ard design conditions. - General shipboard design characteristics shall be as follows: (a) Capable of operating for at least 10000 hours without a major overhaul. (b) Perform in accordance with requirements herein under ambient design (c) Operate satisfactorily and drain without spillage under the f

20、ollowing conditions: temperatures of 4OoF. minimum to 122F. maximum. 1. Up to 30 degrees from normal horizontal position in the fore and aft plane 2. With the ship rolling up to 60 degrees from the vertical to either side and (permanently inclined) I pitching 10 degrees up and down from the normal h

21、orizontal plane. 2 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.4 Shock and vibration. - 3.4.1 Shock. - The precipitator assembly shall be designed such that it is capable of passing the high- impact shock tests specified in MILS-901 for grade B

22、, class I equipment. 3.4.2 Vibration. - The precipitator shall be capable of meeting the requirements for type I environ- mental vibration specified in MILSTD-167. 3.5 Efficiency. - The efficiency of the precipitator shall not be less than 90 percent over its designed operating range when tested as

23、specified in 4.2.3. 3.6 Pressure loss. - The pressure loss through the precipitator and flame arrester screen shall not exceed O. 80 inch watergage at 10 c.f. m. airflow. 3.7 Ozone and oxides of nitrogen production. - The maximum combined ozone and oxides nitrogen con- centration produced by a unit

24、over its operating range shall be no greater than O. 1 parts per million (p. p. m. ) of air recorded on the discharge side of the precipitator at approximately 40 percent relative humidity and at the expected operating ionizer (charging) voltage than 30 inches high by I-3/4 inches wide, by 12 inches

25、 deep. 3.8 Physical dimensions. - The overall dimensions of the precipitator assembly shall not be greater 3.8.1 Mounting flange. - The mounting flange 9hall have an outside diameter (o. d. ) of 1-11/16 inches and shall be at least an inch thick. The flange shall be drilled with eight holes, 9/16 in

26、ch diameter on 6-9/16 inches bolt circle. 3.9 Radio interference. - The precipitator furnished under this specification shall conform to MIL-I- 16910. 3.10 Electrical requirements. - The precipitator shall operate on 115 volts, 60 cycle, single phase, alternating current primary power input. of 5pC.

27、 (122OF. ) ambient temperature. 3.10.2 Output power. - Rectification of output power shall be accomplished by semi-conductor com- ponents as the preferred method. Semi-conductor components shall be selected from MILSTD-101. Recti- fication may be accomplished by electron tubes as an alternate method

28、. Electron tubes shall be selected from MIL-STD-242. The power supply shall contain an input transformer which isolates the input and out- put circuits. 3.10.1 Ambient temperature. - All components shall be designed for continuous operation in a maximum 3.10.3 Power pack. - The power pack shall be d

29、esigned as an integral part of the precipitator and shall be of dripproof construction. Access to the internal wiring shall be by a lift off cover plate and the access shall be safety interlocked in accordance with 3.12. An indicator shall be provided for ionizer current and to show malfunction. 3.1

30、0.4 Ionizing electrode. - The ionizing electrode shall have uniform cross-section which requires no voltage adjustment due to erosion. This should be a tungsten wire O. O10 inch in diameter for maximum ionization and minimum attrition. 3.11 Creepage and clearance distances. - Creepage and clearance

31、distances (between electrical cir- cuits and between any circuit and ground) used in construction of the power supply and connecting devices, between the precipitator and the power supply, shall be sufficient to provide proper insulation characteris- tics. Data substantiating the distances used shal

32、l be provided by the manufacturer. 3.12 Warning and safety devices. - Warning and safety devices shall be incorporated into each unit: (a) An indicator light to indicate malfunction of the unit. (b) To protect personnel from injury, and the equipment from damage, due to malfunction of, or damage inc

34、f fire due to arc-over. replacing the ionizer incident to repair. The safety device shall consist of an electrical-mechanica interlock. The device shall be located such that the removal of the lift off cover plate which, when removed, exposes high-voltage or hazardous elec- trical connections, shall

35、 de-energize the precipitator. 3.13 Welding and brazing. - The surfaces of all parts to be welded or brazed shall be free from rust, scale, paint, grease and other foreign matter. 3.13.1 Welding. - All welding shall be at least equal to that required by MIL-STD-278. 3.13.2 Brazing. - Brazing procedu

36、res and qualification of welder (brazer) shall be in accordance with NAVSHIPS 250-637-2, as applicable. 3.14 Painting. - All exterior surfaces of the precipitator, except those surfaces constructed of brass, copper or corrosion resisting steel, shall be thoroughly cleaned and coated as follows: (a)

37、One coat of pretreatment coating in accordance with MIL-P-15328. (b) One coat of zinc chromate primer in accordance with TT-P-645, or one coat of red lead primer in accordance with MIL-P-17545. (c) One final coat of gray enamel in accordance with MIL-E-15090. 3.15 Flame arrester screen. - The flame

38、arrester screen shall be constructed in accordance with figure 1. 3.16 Identification plate. - Each precipitator assembly shall be provided with an identification plate not to exceed 4 by 3 inches. The type Of marking for the letters shall be Gothic capitals, and numerals and other characters shall

39、be of similar appearance. The size of the letters, numerals and other characters shall be as necessary for easy readability. The plate shall be etched, engraved or cast, using either monel, brass, corrosion resisting steel or aluminum alloy, or shall be of the anodized aluminum photographic pro- ces

40、s. sensitive silver compounds imbedded within the oxide layer. After photographic processing the image shall be sealed in the oxide layer by suitable chemical treatment of the layer. Stamping of additional marking in- formation shall not be permitted. 3.16.1 Anodized aluminum photographic process. -

41、 Anodized aluminum plates shall have the photo- 3.16.2 The identification plate shall contain the following information: (a) Item name. (b) Federal stock number. (c) Component identification number (CID). (d) Contract number. (e) Manufacturers name and address. 3.17 Manuals. - Manuals shall be in ac

42、cordance with type I of MIL-M-15071. The manual shall con- tain the following information: (a) General description of an electrostatic precipitator and the principles on which (b) Detailed operating instructions. (c) Detailed installation and maintenance instructions. (d) Detailed cleaning requireme

43、nts and instructions. (e) Trouble shooting guide. (f) Applicable drawings including wiring diagram and assembly drawings. 44、93306 0452553 4 mp MIL-P-23917(SHIPS) 3.18 Repair parts. - Repair parts shdl be furnished in accordance with MIL-P-15137. 3.19 Drawings. - Drawings delineating the equipment shall be furnished in accordance with classes A and B of MIL-D-963 and as specified herein. The drawings shall include detail

45、drawings where necessary to show compliance with specifications, assembly drawings, diagrams and certification data. Approval of these drawings shall be by the Bureau of Ships. 3.19.1 Assembly drawing. - Assembly drawing shall indicate outline, mounting, attachment and , connection dimensions includ

46、ing methods and sizes of fastenings and clearances for installation and servic- ing plus supplemental data as necessary to permit shipyard installation without the suppliers assistance. Drawings shall illustrate design, construction, identity of parts, total weight of assembled parts, indicate cente

47、r of gravity. 3.19.2 Diagram drawing. - The diagram drawing shall include electrical schematic, electrical con- nection diagrams with certification data and performance curves, efficiency versus airflow in c. f. m. and pressure loss versus airflow in c. f. m. Performance curves shall cover range fro

48、m zero air flow to at least an airflow of 14 c. f. m. 3.19.2.1 Each diagram shall show by symbolic representation, electrical wiring, and connections, components, accessories, controls and connections required for installation. The diagrams shall show the size and type of all wiring. All components

49、shall be given a piece number and shall be identified with the certification data. Piece numbers shall be shown in a consecutive order around each diagram where prac- ticable. 3.19.2.2 Certification data shall be shown in columnar form for the assembled equipment. Each item shall be shown with a piece number. In addition to the requirements of MIL-D-963, certification data shall include the following information, as applicable: (a) Piece number. (b)
