Prior to submission of any complete power supplies for acceptance, the contractor shall furnish two first articles for determination of conformance to this specification. herein. concerned shall not relieve the contractor of hi

Any changes or deviations of the power supplies from the first articles shall be subject to the written approval of the contracting officer. The first articles, if approved, may be included in the final. shipment after rework a

In the selection of materials and parts,. fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. I.n all cases, the meeting of general material requ

In so doing, the following factors shall govern: (a) Materials and parts approved in Specifications listed in MIL-E-16400 shall be given first consideration. (b) When use of materials or parts

The power supply shall be designed to furnish two output voltages to power electronic equipment normally powered by vehicular power supplies or battery power supplies. The power s
14、upply shall consist of the following basic units: (a) Transit case (including cover) (b) Circuitry for supplying a dc of 60 A af a voltage of 21 to 31 Vdc and a dc of 5 A at a voltage of 10 to 18 Vdc as required by this specification. (c) Knobs, controls, circuit breakers, connectors, indicating lig
15、hts, meters, etc., as required for normal operation. (d) All other items necessary to make a complete power supply in accordance with this specification. 3.3.1 Electrical characteristics. 3.3.1.1 Input voltaqe. The power supply shall operate from a source of 115/208 V -0 percent; three phase, four w
16、ire, 48 to 65/380 to 420 Hz, or 115/208 V -0 percent single phase, 2 wire, 48 to 65/380 to 420 Hz. kilovoltamperes. 3.3.1.2 Input power. Maximum input power shall be 3 3.3.1.3 Output voltaae. Output voltage shall consist of two voltages which shall be supplied simultaneously. One voltage shall be va
17、riable from 10 to 18 Vdc and the other voltage shall be variable from 21 to 31 Vdc. 3.3.1.4 Output power. Output power shall be 1.55 kilowatts minimum. 3.3.1.5 Current ratinq. The power supply shall be capable of a continuous output of 60 A dc at any voltage within the 21 to 31 Vdc range and shall b
18、e capable of a continuous output of 5 A dc at any voltage within the 10 to 18 Vdc range. The root mean square ripple and noise voltage shall not exceed 15 millivolts ripple at 30-Vdc output . 3.3.1.7 Transient response. Transients shall be limited to s.5 V from the set voltage (any combina
20、tion of load and input voltage). and remain within, 0.5 percent of the steady state value within 50 microseconds. The output voltage shall recover to, 3.3.2 Blower motors. As a design objective, the use of natural ventilation for cooling shall be given prime consideration. 3.3.3 Operatina controls.
21、The fallowing operating controls shall be provided. No other controls shall be required to operate the power supply. 3.3.3.1 Power input circuit breaker. A circuit breaker shall be used in each of the three legs of the 4-wire input and shall be used as the main “ON-OFF1I switch and short circuit pro
22、tection: a circuit breaker shall also be used in one leg of the 2-wire input and used as an “ON-OFFI switch. 3.3.3.2 Output voltase controls, The output voltages shall be provided with two controls. One control shall provide for varying the voltage on the 21 to 31Vdc output and the other control sha
23、ll provide for varying the voltage on the 10 to 18 Vdc output. 3.3.3,3 Output meter control. A switch shall be provided to connect the output voltage and current meters to either the 10 to 18 Vdc or the 21 to 31 Vdc output circuits. 3.3.4 Output circuit meters. Two ruggedized meters of not less than
24、 2-1/2-inch nominal face diameter shall be provided to indicate output voltage and current. The voltage meter shall be of expanded scale construction. 3.3.5 Connectors. Input power circuit and dc output circuit shall terminate in a connector. No power cables are required, but mating connectors shall
25、 be supplied. A lug type ground connector shall be installed on the power supply. A red power-on indicating lamp shall be prov
26、ided and shall illuminate when voltage Is applied to the power transformer. 3.3.7 Power supply case. In the transit condition, the power supply case shall be watertight .in accordance with procedure III, method B of MIL-STD-108. A relief valve shall be a part of the case to equalize pressure when ca
27、se is carried in aircraft or used at high altitude. Gaskets shall be of the protected well type. Stop plates shall be a part of the case to prevent improper (reversed) installation of cover. 3.3.8 Front panel. A proposed front panel layout of circuit breakers, meters, lamp, handles and function desi
28、gnations shall be submitted to the contracting officer for approval 15 days after award of contract. Two handles shall be provided on the front panel of the power supply to provide for removal of the power supply from its case. The handles shall be located so as not to interfere with any of the oper
29、ational controls. 3.3*9 Noise level. Maximum sound intensity level shall be no greater than 65 decibels referred to 0.0002 dyneS/square centimeter (10-16 watts/square centimeter) when measured at 3 feet from all sides of the unit. 3.3.10 Safety requirements. The power supply shall be designed for op
30、timum operator safety. Since voltages and currents, both of which may be above ground, may be measured, there shall be no conductive projections or contacts on the surface of the power supply. Operator safety shall be maintained despite failure of any component of the power supply. 3.3.11 Bleeder ne
31、twork. Networks shall be used on all high voltage and high energy capacitors which will give.a time constant of 10 seconds. 3.3.12 Interchanqeability. Mechanical and electrical interchangeability shall exist between similar assemblies, subassemblies, and replaceable parts, regardless of the manufact
32、urer or supplier. Interchangeability does not mean identicality but requires that a substitution of such like assemblies, subassemblies, and replaceable parts be easily effected without physical or electrical modifications of any part on the power supply including cabling, wiring and mounting. 5 -.

34、and other parts having the limiting dimensions and characteristics set forth in the specifications for the particular part involved without departure from the specified performance. 3.3.13 Moisture and funqus treatment. The power supply shall be fungus-proofed in accordance with MIL-T-152, and by se
35、lection of parts and materials which are nonnutrient for fungus: or the parts and materials shall be treated prior to their use in the equipment so that overall spraying of the equipment is not necessary. 3.4 Reliability. Reliability shall receive major emphasis during the fabrication and constructi
36、on of the power spply. assembly process. The equipment shall be capable of demonstrating a mean time between failure of 10,000 hours. MIL-STD-785 shall be used in establishing the reliability requirements. This emphasis shall be reflected in the 3.5 Maintainability. The mean time to repair the power
37、 supply shall not exceed 30 minutes. 3.6 Performance. The power supply shall meet the following performance requirements. 3.6.1 Standard conditions. The following shall be used as a basis for establishing normal performance requirements and for conducting laboratory and bench tests of the power supp

40、 applies 3.6.2.2 Nonoperatinq: In the transport condition, the power supply shall withstand any probable combination of the following service conditions without damage and shall operate satisfactorily following exposure to such conditions. The exposed surface of the case shall be treatad and painted in accordance with MIL-T-704 using paint conf
44、orming to TT-E-485; color shall match Marine Corps green, No. 23 (see 6i4). 3.11 Nameplates, Nameplates shall be in accordance with type A of MIL-P-15024. in accordance with MIL-E-21981. Nomenclature shall be requested 3.12 Workmanship. The power supply covered by this specification, including all p
45、arts and accessories, shall be manufactured and finished in accordance with the standards set forth in MIL-E-16400. 4. QUNJITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Resmnsibilitv for insection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all in
46、spection requireents as specified herein. specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his 0- or any other facilities suitable for the perfomance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the
47、 inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: Except as otherwise (a) First article

First articles shall be subjected to tests indicated for first article in Table I, Selected first article tests will be witnessed by a Government representative.
