14、vidual item requirements shall be asspecified herein and in accordance with the acquisition documents. In theevent of any conflict between the requirements of this specification and theacquisition documents, the latter shall govern.3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subje
15、ctedto first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.4.3.3 Materials. The cured adhesive material shall not produce toxic,corrosive, or explosive byproducts. All materials are subject to atoxicological data and formulations review and inspection, for safety of thematerial, by the Governmen
16、t.3.3.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials.Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used tothe maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds theoperational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economicallyadvantageou

The adhesive shall be a one component, liquid, adhesive.The adhesive shall be capable of being cured by exposure to ultraviolet (UV)electromagnetic r
18、adiation.3.5 Performance requirements. The performance requirements shall bedefined in terms of the mechanical, environmental, and chemical properties.3.5.1 Viscosity (see 4.6.1). The uncured adhesive viscosity shall be notless than 100 cp and not greater than 2,000 cp at +25OC 5OC.3.5.2 Shelf life
19、(see 4.6.2). The uncured adhesive shall have a shelf lifenot less than 18 months at +25OC 5OC (see 6.6). The 18-month periodcommences on the date of the adhesive manufacture. The uncured adhesive shallmeet the requirements of 3.5.1. When cured in accordance with 3.5.4, theadhesive shall meet the req
20、uirements of 3.5.5, 3.5.6, and 3.5.7.3.5.3 Storage temperature (see 4.6.2). The uncured adhesive shall becapable of storage at temperatures from -40OC to +50OC. After storage, theuncured adhesive shall meet the requirements of 3.5.1. When cured inaccordance with 3.5.4, the adhesive shall meet the re
21、quirements of 3.5.5,3.5.6, and 3.5.7.3.5.4 Cure schedule (see 4.6.3). The adhesive shall meet the requirementsof 3.5.5, 3.5.6, 3.5.7, 3.5.8, 3.5.10, 3.5.11, and 3.5.12 when exposed to UVradiation (radiant intensity 0.006 W/cm2) for a time period sufficient tocompletely cure the bulk material sample.
22、 The adhesive shall meet therequirements of 3.5.15 when exposed to UV radiation with a radiant intensityof 0.003 W/cm2for 2 1 minutes at +25OC 5OC.3.5.5 Linear shrinkage (see 4.6.4). The adhesive shall have a linearshrinkage of not greater than 2 percent when cured in accordance with 3.5.4.3.5.6 Har
23、dness (see 4.6.5). When cured in accordance with 3.5.4, theadhesive shall have a Shore D hardness not less than 65.3.5.7 Bond strength (see 4.6.6). When cured in accordance with 3.5.4, theadhesive shall have a bond strength not less than 10.3 MPa (1,500 psi) at atemperature of +25OC 5OC.3.5.8 Glass
24、transition temperature (see 4.6.7). When cured in accordancewith 3.5.4, the adhesive shall have a glass transition temperature not lessthan +65OC.3.5.9 Index of refraction (see 4.6.8). The adhesive shall have an index ofrefraction not less than 1.500.3.5.10 Coefficient of linear thermal expansion (s
25、ee 4.6.9). When cured inaccordance with 3.5.4, the adhesive shall have a coefficient of linear thermalexpansion not greater than 225 x 10-6mm/OC.3.5.11 Operating temperature (see 4.6.9). When cured in accordance with3.5.4 and after exposure to non-operating temperature extremes between -40OCand +70O

When cured in accordanc
27、e with 3.5.4,the adhesive shall absorb an amount of water not greater than 0.5 percent ofthe adhesive weight.3.5.13 Identification and marking (see 4.6.11). All containers shall bemarked. The markings shall be permanent, clearly visible, and legible.Marking information shall include the Part or Iden
28、tifying Number (PIN), CAGEcode, manufacturers name, lot number, and date of manufacture.3.5.14 Workmanship (see 4.6.12). All adhesive material shall be uniform inquality and free from foreign material or any defects detrimental to thefabrication or performance of the adhesive.3.5.15 Splice compatibi
29、lity (see 4.6.13). The adhesive shall securely holdan optical fiber within a fiber optic splice. The adhesive shall restrict theaxial movement of the optical fiber with respect to the fiber optic spliceferrule to be less than 0.2 m.3.6 Shipping. Adhesive material shall not be shipped on any order to
30、 thisspecification if the shipping date is greater than 90 days from themanufacturing date.3.7 Particle diameter. Diameters of particles within the adhesive materialshall be not greater than 5 micrometers.4. VERIFICATION4.1 General. Material delivered to this specification shall meet allrequirements
31、 herein. The manufacturer shall perform the necessary tests andinspections in order to insure compliance with this specification.4.1.1 Test equipment and inspection facilities. Requirements for testequipment and inspection facilities shall be as identified in the contract(see 6.3.1).4.2 Classificati
32、on of inspections. The inspection requirements specifiedherein are classified as follows:a. First contract inspection (see 4.3).b. First article inspection (see 4.4).c. Conformance inspection (see 4.5).4.3 First contract inspection. First contract inspection (see 6.4.1) isapplicable only on the firs
