SCOPE 1.1 of an airborne heightnder radar. targets at long ranges. This

2、equipment shall be used in conjunction with early warning search radar, such as the AN/APS-BOB, and combat information center display equipment, such as the AN/APA-56. As such, it shall be designed primarily for installation in WV-2 type aircraft especially adapted for airborne combat information ce

REQUIREMENTS 3. 1 Parts and Materials - In the selection of parts and materials, fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. In so doing, the following shall govern.

17、 (1) Parts and materials as approved by specification MIL-E-5400 shall be given first consider ation. (2) When the characteristics of standard MIL parts are such that their use will not fulfill the requirements because of size, weight, performance or other reasons, material and parts shall be used w

18、hich most nearly meet or exceed t!ie require- ments of the respective parts and material standard specifications. 19、as non-inflammability, fungus resistance, non-toxicity, etc. , and, the meeting of environmental conditions as requiredby specification MIL-E- 5400 and MIL-T-5422 shall be of prime consideration. (4) In the selection of parts, the above considerations shall apply if the assembly is to be built for d

20、etail part maintenance. In the event the entire assembly is built to be expended, the assembly shall be constructed and the quality of the individual parts shall be such that the unit as a whole will pass material, electrical and environmental tests. Any assembly built to be expended shall be approv

21、ed first by the procuring agency. 3.1. 1 Non-Standard Part Approval and Material Approval ; Approval for the use of non- standard parts and materials shall be obtained as outlined in specification MIL-E-5400 except as follows: I (1) Mechanical parts are expected to meet the material requirements of

22、specification MIL-E-5400, and shall be submitted as non-standard parts only when the material requirements are not met. (2) Non-standard parts, as defined in specification MIL-E-5400 of an electrical nature must be approved before the preproduction model of the equipment is delivered to the Bureau o

23、f Aeronautics. The request for approval must be forwarded by the contractor before the part is purchased or fabricated. In addition to or in lieu of the Non-Standard Part Data Sheet, the contractor is requested to submit itemized lists of the parts, their sources, and the con- tractors drawing or pu

24、rchase specification covering the parts. 3.1.2 Choice of Tube Types - Electron tubes used in the equipment shall be chosen in accordance with the following requirements and in the sequence noted: (1) MIL-E-4682 (2) The use of any tube not meeting the requirements of (1) above must be approved by the

25、 Bureau of Aeronautics; however, before consideration for approval, the contractor must submit the following information: (a) Quantitative data on the electrical advantages and mechanical adequacy of the proposed tube over the most nearly equivalent type on the acceptable listings . (b) Test data an

26、d performance limits of the tube which must be maintained to insure satisfactory and reliable performance in the equipment. (c) Information as to whether the tube manufacturer has received Military or Navy qualification approval for the particular tube. of maintenance, and an improvement in fhe perf

27、ormance and reliability of the specific functionbeyond the requirements of this specification are objectives to be considered in the production of this equip- ment. Where it appears a substantial reduction in size and weight or improvement in simplicity of design, performance, ease of maintenance or

28、 reliability will result from the use of materials, parts and processes other than those specified in specification MIL-E-5400, it is desired their use be in- vestigated. When investigation shows advantages can be realized, a request for approval shall be submitted to the Bureau of Aeronautics for c

29、onsideration. 30、gn and Construction 3.2. 1 General - This equipment sha.11 meet all the applicable design and construction requirements of specification MIL-E-5400, unless otherwise specified herein. 3.2. 1. 1 Connectors, Wired-In - Connector soldered joint and wires shall not be treated with moisture and fungus re

31、sistant varnish but shall be cleaned thoroughly with an approved solvent. 3. 2. 1.2 Finishes - Whenever the interference requirements of 3 2. 18 demand electrical grounds that are income with the finishing requirements of specification MIL-E-5400, the inter- ference requirements shall govern. 3. 2.

32、1. 3 Explosion Proofing - This equipment insofar as practicable shall be explosion- proof. 3.2.2 Service Conditions - The equipment shall operate satisfactorily under any of the environmental and mechanical service conditions or reasonable combinations of these conditions as specified in specificati

33、on MIL-E-5400 for Class I equipment with the following exceptions: 3.2.2 1 Altitude - Continuous operation at barometric pressures ranging from 30 inches of mercury down to 16.9 inches of mercury (approximating an altitude of 15,000 feet) for Console OA-295A/APS-45 and down to 5. 5 inches of mercury

34、 (approximating an altitude of 40,000 feet) for Antenna AS-809/APS-45A; the pressure remaining constant for long periods of time or varying at a rate as high as O. 5 inch of mercury per second. 3.2.2 2 Sand and Dust Particles - The equipment will not be required to withstand exposure to sand and dus

35、t particles. 3. 2. 2. 3 Vibration - The equipment, when normally mounted, shall operate satisfactorily when subjected to continuous vibration having a double amplitude of O. 04 inch at any frequency within the range of 10 to 55 cps, resulting in a maximum acceleration of +16-1/4 g, whichever is the

36、limit- ing value. ? The equipment will not be required to operate with isolators removed. 3. 2. 2. 4 Shock - The equipment, normally mounted, shall be capable of withstanding . shock not exceeding 5 g . 3. 2.3 Standard Conditions - The following conditions shall be used as a basis to establish norma

Elapsed Time Meter - Elapsed time meters in accordance with drawing 52AlA41-4 shall be included in the Electrical Equipment Cabinet !Y-1301A/APS-45 and shall indicate both standby and operating time. 42、ng Cabling - This equipment shall be capable of satisfactory operation using external wiring in accordance with the applicabe requirements of specification MIL-W-5088. The external wiring shall be unshielded, except that a minimum number of the individual wires may be shielded, when demonstrated as

43、necessary to meet interference control requirements and provided the aslernbly of the cable to its plugs may be easily accomplished, cables and connector-e requirements of specification MIL-E-6400. How- ever, cablee and that portion of the connectorB which is to be attached to the cables shall not b

All parts and circuits of the equipment which are likely to carry an overload due to any failures or poor adjustments shall have suitable protective devices or shall be proportioned to withstand such overload without permanent damage to the equipment.
