2、efense. 1. SCOPE Scope - The equipment covered by this specification shall be an airborne searchradar. The primary objective is to detect submarine periscopes within five .seconds after exposure. and to- provide this detection capability under severe sea conditions to ranges of at least 20 n. miles.

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Preproduction - This specification makes provi sion for preproduction testi ng . 3.2 Parts and Materials - In the selection of parts and material s, fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. Modules - The electronic portions of the equipment shall be functionally modularized in accordance with Specification AR-10 except as specified herein. n 3.2.2 3.3 Design and Construction - The equipment shall conform with al 1 the appl icable requirements of Specification MIL-E

19、3,3. 2.1 Operational Stability - The equipment shall operate with satisfactory performance, continuously or intermittently, for a period of at least 125 hours without the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. Operating Life - The equipme

20、nt shall have a total operating 1 Ife of 5000 hours with reasonable servicing and repl acement of parts. Parts requiring schedul ed repl acement chal 1 be specified by the contractor. 3.3.2.2 3.3,2,3 Reliability in Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) - The equip- ment, includina an.y milt-In-Test Provi

21、sions. shall have 125 hours of mean (operating) tirne ktween failures when tested and accepted as outlined under the requi rements of 4.4.3. Time Totalizing Meter - All units of the equipment shall contain time total izi na meters in accordance with Soecification MIL-M-7793. 3.3.2.4 The time totaliz

22、ing meter will be a 10,000 hour meter and will meet military standard MS17321 or MS17322. 3.3.3 3.3.3.1 Cabling and Connectors - The equipment shall provide for the use of cables and connectors in accordance with Specification MIL-E-5400. Interconnecting Cabling - The equipment shall be capable of s

23、atisfactory operation using external wiring in accordance with the appl icable requirements of Specification MIL-W-5088. The external wi ring shall be unshielded, except that a minimum number of individual wires may be shielded when demonstrated as necessary to meet the interference control requirem
