2、epartment of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for the manufacture and inspection of two types of bomb ejector racks capable of carrying and releasing stores having suspension lugs spaced 355.6 millimeters (14 inches) apart and weighing from 45 kilograms (1

3、00 pounds) to 660 kilograms (1,450 pounds). The test limits in this speci- fication define minimum acceptable capabilities. 1.2 Classification. Bomb ejector racks, hereinafter called ejector units, covered by this specification shall be of the following types : Type I BRU-20, BRU-21, BRU-22, BRU-23

4、Bomb Ejector Racks Type TI BRU-24, BRU-25 Bomb Ejector Racks 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Issues of documents. The following documents, of the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for prcsposal, form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. Beneficial comments

Should a co

8、nflict exist between any requirement in this specification and any requirement in the applicable documents referenced herein, the requirements of this specification shall take precedence over the ref- erenced (applicable) document. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. The ejector units furnished under

9、 this specification shall be a product which has been inspected and passed the first article inspection specified herein see 4.3). 3.2 Selection of specifications and standards. Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and- services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance

10、with MIL-STD-143. 3.3 Interchangeability. All parts having the same part number shall be directly and completely interchangeable with each other with respect to installation ana performance. 3 4 Identification of parts. All parts shall be specified on the drawings listed in the data list-For the eje

11、ctor unit being procured, or in accordance with MIL-STD-130, if not specified on the drawings. The item identification and part number requirements of MIL-STD-100 shall govern the part number and changes thereto. 3.5 Ejector unit. 3.5.1 . Construction. The construction of the ejector unit shall be i

12、n accordance with the drawings listed in the data list for the ejector unit being procured and as specified herein (see 6.2.lf). 3.5.2 Performance. The ejector units shall satisfy all perform- ance requirements when subjected to the following inspections in the order specified in Tables 1 and II, 4.

15、it. The construction and nspec- tion of the electric fuze arming unit shcall be in accordance with MIL-C- 81842. 3.7 Workmanship. The worhansip displayed in fabrication and assembly of the ejector units shall be such as to assure, within design limitations, the ability of the ejector units to meet t

16、heir performance requirements under all applicable environmental conditions specified herein. Unauthorized repair, we1ding;heavy burrs, or parts assembled by introduction of high stresses not prescribed in the drawings, are typical signs of inferior workmanship and shall be eause for rejection. The

17、standards o workmanship exhibited in the approved first article sample , subject to any qualification stated in the governments notice o approval, , shall be determinative of the reeuirements of the contract relative to 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS m 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless othe

18、rwise speci- fied in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the nerformance of the insnection reauirements ,

19、 specified herein, unless disapproved by the goverment. The government . m reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification. where such insDections are deemed necessarv to assure that the supplies and services conform to vrescribed reauirements. m 4.2 Classificatio

First article inspection shall consist of all of the inspections listed in Table I. First article inspection r

21、eport format shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-831 (see 6.3). 4.3,1 Sampling for the first article inspection. First article ejector unit samples shall consist. E the first two ejector units manu- factured on contract. The ejector units shall be permanently labeled A and B for ease of identificati

22、on. Failure of the ejector units to pass any of the first article inspections shall be cause for rejection (see 6.3). 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection shall consist of t-pections: a. Individual inspections (see 4.4.1) b . Sampling Inspections (see 4.4.2) Quality con

23、formance inspection report format shall be in accordance with . MIL-STD-831 (see 6.3). 4.4.1 Individual inspections. Individual inspections are those inspections conducted on each ejector unit. Individual inspections for the ejector units are shown in Table II, Group I. Failure to pass any of these

24、inspections shall be cause for rejection of the ejector unit. 4.4.2 Sampling inspections. A random sampling of the ejector units shall be selected by the procuring activity from each production lot in accordance with Table III and shall be subjected to the inspec- tans listed in Table II, Group 1 an

25、d Group 2, Group I inspections . shall be conducted prior to Group 2.incpections. Failure to pass any of these inspections shall be cause for rejection of the entire lot (see 6.2.le and 6.3). 4.5 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise epecified, all inspections shall be performed under the followin

26、g conditions: a. Room temperature. Room ambient of 25 110OC (77 f18OF) indicated. b. Test tempecature. All parts of the test item shall be stabilized at the specified temperature f2.8OC . 30、ificatioa by analysis, inspection, and demonstration. All requirements, for the bomb racknt qualified by testing shall be qualified by analysis, inspection or demonstrations approved by the pro- curing activity. . 4.6.2 Packaging inspection. Each bomb rack shall be examined to ensure that the prepar

31、ation for delivery conforms to this specifica- tion (see section 5). 4.6.3 Ejector unit. Each ejector unit shall be inspected to . insure that it has been properly assembled and adjusted, that the electri- cal connections are secure, and that workmanship is as specified herein (see 3.7). 4.6.3. Hook

32、s. Prior to installation in the ejector unit, each hook shall be subjected to the following inspections: a. Each hook shall be subjected to dye penetrant inspec- tions in accordance with MIL-1-6866. Dye penetrant inspections shall be performed after final process- ing. Special attention shall be giv

33、en to the throat and pivot hole areas of the hooks. There shall be no evidence of cracks, seams, discontinuity of surface or other detrimental defects in any area of the hook. b. Each hook shall be thoroughly examined to determine . conformance to all the requirements of the drawings listed in the d

34、ata list for the ejector unit being procured (see 6.2.lf). As a minimum, all hooks shall be inspected and tested to determine if any of the following major defects exist. 1. One or more dimensions out of tolerance. 2. Finish not in accordance with specified values. 4.6.4 Functional test. Each ejecto

The hooks of the

36、ejector unit shall be closed and it shall be verified that the hooks latch. b. Rotate the safety stop lever to “locked“. Attempt to release the ejector unit using the manual release lever. The maximum force applied shall be 200 Newtons (45 pounds), The release mechanism shall not actuate. . c. Rotat

37、e the safety stop lever to “unlocked“. Release the ejector unit using the manual release lever. Release farce shall be between 67 and 200 Newtons (15 and 45 pounds). The release mechanism shall operate smoothly and the hooks shall open. d. The hooks of the ejector unit shall be latched and a total d

38、own load of 22,240 Newtons (5,000 pounds) (11,120 Newtons, 2,500 pounds per hook) applied to the ejector unit. There shall be no damage to the ejector unit. Rotate the safety stop lever to the “locked“ then “unlocked“ position. There shall be no interference or binding. e. The load on the ejector un

39、it shall be reduced to 3,558 Newtons (800 pounds) l,f79 Newtons, (400 pounds per hook). Release the ejector unit using the manual release lever. The release force shall be between 67 and 200 Newtons (15 and 45 pounds). The release mechanism shall operate smoothly and the hooks shall open. f. Suspend

Load the ejector unit with the applicable impulse cartridge (see 6.2.lk). Rotate the safety stop . lever to Apply 28 VDC to the ejector units electrical input connect

42、or(s), The impulse cartridge shall ignite and the store shall be ejec- ted. The time of release or lag time, as defined in MIL-T-7743, shall be measured. Lag time shall not exceed 0.1 second. h. Remove, disassemble, clean and inspect the ejector unit as indicated in the applicable manuals (see 6.2.l

43、g). There shall be no damage to the ejector unit. 4.6.5 Arming mechanism. A MK-9 or MK-11 bomb arming wire assembly shall be inserted in the tail and nose arming units of the ejector unit (see 6.2.1 1). With each arming unit not eqergized, pull each arming wire slowly, in a vertically downward direc

44、tion, parallel to the side of the ejector unit. Each arming unit shall support a 40 Newton (9 pound) load but release the wire at any load in excess of 58 Newtons (13 pounds). A minimum of three successive measurements shall be obtained on each non-energized arming unit. With each arming unit energi

45、zed, pull on each arming wire in the same direction as specified above. I Each arming unit shall support a load of 667 Newtons (150 pounds). 4.6.6 Electric fuze arming. The Oo pull-out force for the electric fuze connector assembly and the pull test fixture shall be in I accordance with MIL-C-81842.

46、 Three successive measurements shall be made. In addition, the interlock .switch shall be verified to be open when the ejector unit ia latched and closed when the ejector unit is released. I 4.6.7 Life test. The ejector unit shall be life tested a total of 250 ejections. Each ejection shall be perfo

47、rmed with a vertical down load of 22,240 Newtons (5,000 pounds) per hook 44,480 Newtons, (10,000 pounds total per ejection unit) and the applicable impulse cartridge (see 6.2.lk). The ejector foot shall be opposed by a device which simulates the force-time characteristics of an ejected MK 83 L.D.G.P

48、. store 450 kilograms, (1,000 pounds). 49、5. c. Ejections 241 through 250. 4.6.8 Additional tests. The ejector unit shall pass the follow- ing tests of MI-T-7743 as specified, except as modified herein. Appli- cable impulse cartridges shall be used when required (see 6.2.lk). When arming units or electric fuzes are required to be tested, only the tests of 4.6.5 and 4.6.6, respectively, shall app
