The individual item requirements shall be asspecified herein and in accordance with the applicable specification sheets. Inthe event of any conflict between requirements of this specification and theI

When specified (see 6.2), a ssmple shall be subjectedto first article inspection (see 6.4) in accordance with 4.3.3.3 rnaterial.3.3.1.1 Studs twes I. II. and VI) Studs shall be manufactured fromcarbon “steel of chemical composition ind

20、icated in the appropriate specificationsheet.3.3.1.2 Studs (tvu es IV. and VIII. Studs shall be manufactured fromaluminum alloy of chemical composition indicated in the appropriate specificationsheet.3.3.1.3 Studs (CVDes V and VIII1. Studs shall be manufactured fromcorrosion-resistant steel (GRES) o

21、f chemical composition indicated in theappropriate specification sheet. Studs shall be fabricated from annealed barstock (90 Rockvall B msximum hardness) .3.3.2 Arc shields (ferrules Arc shields (ferrules) , as applicable, shallbe formed of heat-resistant ceramic a75aterial capable of maintaining th

22、eirdesigned shape when subjected co the heat of the metallic arc. The number ofvents is optional.3.3.3 w u. Solid flux for use on solid flux studs and aluminumflux for use on aluminum flux coated weld-ends shall be commercially pure alum-inum of suitable size and shape to assure satisfactory welding

Unless otherwise specified herein, all materialand articles incorporated in the products covered by this specification shall benew and may be f

24、abricated using materials produced fram recovered materials tothe maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing the intended use. The term“recovered a75aterials - means materials which have been collected or recovered fromsolid waste and reprocessed co become a source of raw materials , as opposed

25、 tovirgin raw materials None of the above shall be interpreted to mean that theuse of used or rebuilt products is allowed under this specification unlessotherwise specifically specified.3.43.4.1 readq. All threads shall be in accordance with ANSI B1.1 asspecified on individual specification sheet.3.

26、6.2 Grooves (annular . i%egrooves (annular rings) of the studshall be made by rolling or machining.3.4.3 . I%e concentricity of the scud diameter of thethreaded parts, shank, collar, shoulders and weld-ends to each other and co theinserted flux or slag points shall not vary more than 0.050 inch.3.4.

27、4 F1ux components. Flux components, as applicable, shall be tightlyfitted and secured to the scud.3.4.5 Arc shields. Arc shields shall be supplied with studs as applicable.The arc shield dimensions shall be compatible with standard stud-welding equip-ment.3.5 r acte st CS. The studs shall meet the f

28、ollowingperformance reuiens, when subjected to the applicable tests specified in 6.5and 4.6.3.5.1 Chemical analYsis. The chemical composition of the studs shall be inaccordance with that specified on the applicable specification sheet (see 4.5.2) .3.5.2 w. The studs shall withstand the bend tests wi

29、th no visualevidence of cracking in the weld zone (see 4.6.1) .3.5.3 le streno b The studs shall meet the tensile strength require -ments specified on the appiable specification sheet (see 4.6.2) .3.5.4 loroue. If the torque test of 4.6.3 is conducted in lieu of tensiletesting, scud r.breadsshall be

AS B 695,class 12, or 141L-C-87115, class 3.3.6.2 j When specified (see 6.2) , carbon steel studs shallbe copper coatedein accordnce with 141L-C-14550.3.6.3 PassiVa tion. When specified (see 6.2), corrosion-resistant steelstuds shall be cleaned

33、and descsled in accordance with ASTM A 380, and passivatedin accordance with QQ-P-35.3.7 Workmanship. The workmanship shall be uniform in quality and chesurface shall not concain any foreign matter, corrosion, or detrimental defects,such as perforations, sharp edges or corners, seams, cracks, laps,

34、dents, raisedmetal, nicks, scratches, burrs, or other irregularities which a75ight adverselyaffect performance, reliability, maintainability, or safety.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.4.1 Jlesr.onsibilitvfor insnect. Unless othervise specified in thecontract or purchase order, the contractor is resp

35、onsible for the performance ofall inspection requirement (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Exceptas otherwise 5pecified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may usehis own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspectionrequtremencs specified herein, un

36、less disapproved by the Government. lheGovernment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in thisspecification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies andservices conform to prescribed requirements.4.1.1 esponsibilitv for compliance. All items shall meet

37、 all requirementsof sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall becomea pare of che contractors overall inspection system or quality program. Theabsence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve thecontractor of the responsibility of ensuring th

39、eptable praccice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this doesnot authorize submission of knwn defective material, either indicated or actual,nor does it commit the Governmsnc to accept defective material.!4.2assification of insuectiom. The inspection requirements specifiedherein are

40、classified as follows:(a) First article inspection (see 4.3).(b) Quality conformance inspection (see 6.4) .4.3 F t ecticn1. First article inspection shall consist ofthe examinations and tests specified in 4.5 and 1+.6(see 6.3 and 6.6).4.3.1 First articl unit. Forty studs of each type and class havin

41、g thessme weld-end geometry, lus, and arc shield for vhich first article approval isrequired shall be subjected to first article inspection. The 40 studs shall besubjected to the visusl and dimensional examinations speclfied in 4.5. Twentywelded scud samples shall be bend tested in accordance with 4

42、.6.1 and 20 weldedstud samples shall be tensile tested in accordance with 4.6.2.4.3.2 Retest. If failure occurs in the weld zone for any bend test or acless than specified minimum tensile strength of the stud in any of the tensfIetests, a new first article unit shall be prepared and tested. Repetiti

43、on of suchfailures shall be cause for refusal to grant first article approval.4.3.3 AcceDtanc. For a stud and arc shield to be first article approved,each stud of each group of 40 studs shall, by test or retest, meet all firstarticle inspection requirements.4.3.4 Duration of first article avnroV+ll.

44、 A type and class of stud witharc shield, once first article inspected, is considered first article approveduntil the stud manufacturer makes any change in the weld-end geometry, a75aterial ,flux, or arc shield which affects the welding characteristics (see 6.3) .Ii.11 gual itv Cdorm ante inspection

45、s.4.4.1 . A lot shall consisr of all sLuds and arc shields of one heat fstud material (ssme type and class covered by a single specification sheet) andproduced under essentially the same conditioms (see 6.3),L.4.2 b Dection conditio=.
