2、e Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers 180 degree full cone sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads shall be for pendent or upright installation in overhead sprin- kler systems. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. The followi

In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this S

13、pecification shall take precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS i 3.1 General requirements. Sprinkler heads shall meet the mnimum spray pattern shown on figure 1 and shall not e

Fittings shall be sound, smoothly cored,

The Government reserves the right to perf

26、orm any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. a part of the contractors overall i

27、nspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in q

28、uality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material. either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become 4.2 Quality conformance inspection. 4.2.1 Lot. Sprinkler heads

29、of the same design and orifice size offered for delivery% one time shall be considered a lot for purposes of inspection. 4.2.2 Sampling for visual and dimensional examination. A random sample of sprinkler heads shall be selected from each lot in accordance with MIL-STD-105 at inspection level II for

30、 the examination of 4.3. The acceptable quality level shall be 1.5 percent defective. containing one or more visual or dimensional defects shall be rejected, and if the number of defective sprinkler heads in any sample exceeds the acceptance num- ber for that sample, the lot represented by the sampl

31、e shall be rejected. Any sprinkler head in the sample 4.2.3 Sampling for tests. A random sample of sprinkler heads shall be selected from each lot in accordance with MIL-STD-105 at inspection level III for lots of 65 and under, inspection level II for lots of 66 to 500, and inspec- tion level I for

32、lots of 501 and over for the tests of 4.4. The acceptable quality level shall be 2.5 percent defective. Any sprinkler head not meeting the requirements of this specification shall be rejected, and if the number of nonconforming sprinkler heads in any sample exceeds the acceptance number for that sam

33、ple, the lot represented by the sample shall be rejected. 4.3 Visual and dimensional examination. Each of the sample sprinkler heads selected in accordance with 4.2.2 shall be visually and dimensionally examined to verify compliance with the requirements specified herein. 4.4 Test procedures. Each s

34、ample sprinkler head shall be subjected to a performance test to determine compliance with the flow characteristics specified herein (see figure 1 and table I). 4.5 Inspection of packaging. Sample packages and packs, and the inspec- tion of the preservation-packaging, packing and marking for shipmen

36、quirements specified herein apply only for direct Govern- ment acquisition. of referenced documents listed in section 2, see 6.3.) For the extent of applicability of the packaging requirements 5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A, Cy or commercial, as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. T

37、he sprinkler heads shall be individually preserved method III of MIL-P-116 in a water resistant folding or set-up paperboard box. 5.1.2 Level C. Sprinkler heads shall be preserved as specified for level A except that boxes may be of the non-water resistant domestic type or grade. 5.1.3 Commercial. S

38、prinkler heads shall be preserved in accordance with ASTM D 3951. 5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, By C or commercial, as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. Sprinkler heads preserved as specified in 5.1 shall be packed in nailed wood or wood cleated plywood boxes conforming to PPP-8-621, clas

39、s 2, or PPP-B-601, overseas type, at the option of the contractor. Sprinkler heads packaged as specified shall be packed in a fiberboard box conforming to PPP-3-636, class domestic, or triple wall corru- gated box conforming to PPP-B-640, class 1. Variety and style

42、of the box shall be at the contractors option. gross weight of fiberboard boxes shall not exceed the weight limitation of the box specification. Adhesive shall not be used for closure. The 5.2.4 Commercial. Sprinkler heads preserved as specified (see 6.2) shall be packed in accordance with ASTM D 39

43、51. 5.3 ?farking. Unless otherwise approved by the contracting activity (see 6.2), use of loose-fill materials for d

45、omestic shipment and early equipment installation and commercial packaging and packing applications such as cushioning, filler and dunnage is prohibited. When approved, unit packages and containers (interior and exterior) shall be marked and labeled as follows: “CAUTION Contents cushioned with loose

48、rdering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following: (a) Title, number, and date of this specification. (b) Orifice size (see 3.3 and table I). (c) Level of preservation and packing required (see 5.1 and 5.2). (d) When loose-fill material is approved (see 5.4.1). 6.3 Sub-contracted mate

49、rial and parts. The packaging requirements of referenced documents listed in section 2 do not apply when material and parts are acquired by the contractor for incorporation into the equipment and lose their separate identity when the equipment is shipped.
