1、MIL-S-29 41 1B (MC) 2 O January 19 88 SUPERSEDING MIL-S-29411A (MC) 1 August 1984 MILITARY SPECIFICATION SHELTER ASSEMBLIES: 10-FOOT AND 20-FOOT ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE This specification is approved for use by the United States Marine Corps, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by

2、all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for the manufacture and acceptance. of the 10-and 20-foot (ft) Electro- magnetic Interference (EMI) Shelter Assemblies. These shelters are designed for Marine Corps expediti

3、onary use as part of the Marine Corps Expeditionary Shelter System (MCESS) . . 1.2. Classification. The shelter assemblies shall be of one type . in the following classes, as specified (see 6.2): Class 1 - 10-ft Class 2 - 20-ft Unless .otherwise specified, requirements herein apply to both Class 1 a

Coast Guard regulation for such containers for all types o transport, including motor carrier (truck), sea, railroad, and air. Qualification shall be in accordance with the

7、 requirements of ZSO 1496/I. At a minimum, 3.3.12 Complexinq. The shelter assemblies are not intended testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.9 through 4.8.17. -c for complexing except using the joining corridor. is required. Corners shall be square and true. All bends of a major character shall be made with controlled means in order to insure uniformity of s

9、ize and shape. 3.3.14 Facing material. Panel facings shall be one piece seamless aluminum alloy skins of a material and thickness specified on the applicable drawings. All edges of aluminum faced honeycomb panels shall be completely sealed to prevent water intrusion between the laminates be accurate

10、ly punched or drilled. All bolt and rivet connectors shall have burrs removed. Washers, lockwashers, or locknuts shall be provided where necessary and all bolts, nuts and screws shall be tight. Rivet heads, when not countersunk or flattened, shall be of uniform size and shape for the same diameter r

11、ivet, concentric with the rivet holes, and in full contact with the surface of the members. The Shearing and punching shall be done 4 3.3.15 Bolted and riveted connectors. Bolt and rivet holes shall 3.3.16 Weldinq. The surface of the parts to be welded shall be free from rust, scale, paint, grease o

12、r other foreign matter. Weld penetration shall be such as to provide transference of maximum design stress through the base metal juncture. Fillets shall be as specified on the applicable drawings. 3,3.1? Castings. Castings shall be sound and free from patching, misplaced coring, warping or defects

13、which might render the castings unsound for use. 3.3.18 Seals. Seals shall be installed so that the fit within -the retaining track is snug and continuous contact is maintained with mating seal faces. Mitered end junctions of vertical and horizontal seal runs shall be accurate, and gaps shall be sea

The resulting shelter assembly shall have an air volume leak rate of le2s than 200 standard cubic ft/minute (scfm) (60.96 standard m /min) with an i

15、nternal pressure of 1.2 in HsO (30.48 mm H20) . ., 3,.4 Maintainability. Each shelter assembly has been designed so -that as much of the maintenance, as possible, may be performed as farforward (preferably by the using unit), as feasible, within the Marine Corps maintenance structure, in accordance

16、with MCO P4790.1. 3 o 5 Transportability 3.5.1 Railroad transportability. The shelter assemblies shall withstand without damage the shacks normally rnduced by transport by the railroads. Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.19.3. 3.6 Environmental requirements 3.6.1 Rainfall. Each shelter assembl

17、y shall withstand rainfall up to and including 5 in per hour (in/hr) (127 millimeters per hour (mm/hr) without leakage at any location. Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.18.1. 3.6.2 Temperature-humidity. In storage, the shelter assemblies shall be capable of withstanding exposure *to tempe- ra

18、tures of -70F (-56.7OC) to 160F (71.1OC). In transit, the shelter assemblies shall be capable of withstanding exposure to temperatures of -65OF (-53.9OC) to 160F (71.1OC) with personnel access at low end of range. Operational temperature of shelter assemblies shall be -65OF (-53.9OC) -to 125OF (51.7

19、OC) plus solar load (see 3.6.8) . The shelter assemblies shall withstand daily exposure of up to 97 percent relative humidity for 20 hours and exposure of 100 percent relative humidity (with condensation) for 4 hours. Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.18.2 and 4.8.18.3, a 3 o 6 . 2 e 1 Thermal

20、 shock. Each shelter assembly shall withstand sudden temperature chariges from 160F (71.1OC) to -70F (-56.7OC) to 160F (71 .iC) .without separation, delamination, . cracks or degradation of physical properties. Testing shall be in ,accordance with 4.8.18.4. . 3.6.2.2 Heat transfer. Each shelter asse

21、mbly shall maintain an overall average heat transfer coeffic3ent less than or equal to 0.35 British thermal unit (BTU) /hr-Ft -OF (1.99 W/m2-OK). Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.18.5. - - 9 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-S-29411B (MC) 3.6.3 Snow and ice, Each shelter assembly s

22、hall be capable of functioning in accordance with the requirements of this specifi- cation during periods of snow and ice-storms. Each shelter shall inhibit the collection of snow and ice so that its primary function is not degraded. . “3:6.10 Drop shock. The shelter assembly shall withstand without

23、 damage the following drop shocks when loaded to the maximum gross weight uniformly spread over the floor. After each test, there shall be no permanent deformation, buckling, delamination sealer separation or structural failures to any part of the shelter assembly. Doors and covers shall open and cl

Each shelter assembly shall withstand rotationalAdrops, with one edge placed on a 4-in (102-mm) block and the opposite edg

25、e raised 12 in (305 nun) and allowed to free fall onto a concrete surface with the 4-in (102-mm) block acting as a pivot. The shelter assembly shall withstand this drop on each bottom edge. Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.19.2. 3.6.10.1 Flat drop. Each shelter assembly shall withstand a flat

26、 3 . 6 . 11 Blackout . Each shelter assembly shall he li-ght-tight The shelter assembly shall have built in with the door closed. inserts for blackout curtains and associated electrical switches. When equipped with a blackout curtain kit built in accordance with DL80A50 22A0357, light shall not esca

27、pe during entry/egress except for a small amount of light which will be visible at the bottom of the curtain where it meets the floor. Testing shall be in accordance with 4 . 8.20 . 1. 3.6.12 Floor loadinq. The floor of the shelter assemblies (both class 1 and class 2) shall be capable of withstandi

28、ng uniform floor loads of 65 lb/ft (3,112 N/m ) over the entire area of the floor and a yniform coyentrated load of 2,000 lbs (8,896 Newtons) over a 4-ft (0.372-m ) area. Testing shall be in accordance with 4.8.20.2. 2 2 3.6,13 Electromaqnetic Interference (EMI). Each shelter as500 lbs (166,800 Newt

29、ons) for the 20-ft or 18,750 lbs (83,400 Newtons) for the 10-ft) . The shelter then shall be carefully lifted from ali four top corners in such a way that .n significant acceleration or deceleration forces are applied. The shelter assembly shall be suspended by the lifting mechanism for-5 minutes an

30、d then carefully lowered to the ground. Upon Completion of the test, the shelter assembly shall show neither permanent deformation nor abnormality which will render it unsuitable for use, and shall be subjected to the test in 4.8.5. 4.8.11 Liftinq from bottom. The shelter assembly under test shall b

31、e uniformly loaded to 2.5 times its rated gross weight (37,500 lbs (166,800 Newtons) for the 20-ft or 18,750 lbs (83,400 Newtons) for the 10-Et). The shelter shall then be carefully lifted from the side apertures of all four bottom corner fitkings in such a way that no significant acceleration or de

32、celeration - forces are,applied. Lifting forces shall be applied at 45O from the vertical, parallel to the long sides of the shelter assemblies. In each case, the line of action of the lifting force and the outer face of the corner fitting shall be no further apart than 1,5 in (38 mm) . The lifting

33、shall be carried out in such a manner that the lifting devices bear on the bottom corner fittings only. The shelter assembly shall be suspended for 5 minutes and then lowered carefully. to the ground. assembly shall show neither permanent deformation nor abnormality which will render them-unsuitable

34、 for use, and shall be subjected to the test in 4.8.5. Upon completion of the test, the shelter - 4.8.12 Aerodynamic end, Place the shelter assembly on one end supported by the four corner fittings. Uniformly load the upper endwall with 5,120 lbs (22,774 Newtons) (80 psf). Allow the upper endwall to

35、 remain loaded for 5 minutes. Repeat the test for the opposite endwall. The shelter assembly when righted to its normal sitting position after completion of this test shall reveal no evidence of damage, and shall be subjected to the test in 4.8.5. supported by the four corner fittings. Uniformly loa

36、d the upper sidewall with 12,000 lbs (53,376 Newtons) for the class 2 or 6,ObO lbs (26,688 Newtons) for the class 1 (80 psf). Allow the upper sidewall to remain loaded for 5 minutes. When the shelter assembly is righted to its normal sitting position after comple- tion of this test, there shall be n

37、o evidence of damage, and shall be subjectact to the test in 4.8.5. 4.8.13 Aerodynamic side. Place the shelter assembly on its side *. 18 Licensed by Information Handling Servicese. MIL-S-29411B (MC) 4.8.14 Endwall strength. Each endwall of the shelter assembly shall be internally loaded to 9,225 lb

38、s (41,033 Newtons) uniformly The endwalls shall be supported to allow free deflection of the wall. Upon completion of the test the, shelter assembly shall reveal no evidence of damage, anathe shall be subjected to the test in 4.8.5. 48.15 Sidewall strenqth. One sidewall of the shelter assembly under

39、 test shall be internally loaded to 9,225 lbs (41,033 Newtons) for the class 2 or 4,613 lbs (20,518 Newtons) for the class 1 urd- formly distributed over the entire sidewall surface. The sidewall shall be supported to allow free deflection of the wall. cornpletion of the test, the shelter assembly s

The shelter under test shall be loaded to its rated maximium weight uniformly distributed over the floor. points, two on on

The shelter assembly shall be tested for Coast Guard certification. If there is any damage to the shelter assembly due to these tests, it will be the responsi

43、bility of the contractor to repair the damage or make any correction necessary for the shelter assembly to pass Coast Guard certification at his own expense. A certificate of Coast Guard approval shall be furnished and Coast Guard certification plates shall be attached to each delivered shelter asse

45、- jected to watertightness test (panels) in accordance .with MIL;STD-907, Para 5.3.16.1. The shelter assembly, without the -use of any external sealing, caulking, taping, etc., shall show no evidence of leakage. 19 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-S-2941IB (MC) 4.8.18.2 Humidity resistan

46、ce. The shelter assembly shall be suujected to MIL-STD-8 10 Method 5 07 . 1, Procedure II, excluding steps 2-48 7, and 8. After cycling,.the shelter assembly shall be examined and shall show no evidence of delamination, cracking, corrosion or deterioration of any part of the shelter assembly. The sh

47、elter assembly shall be energized electrically and the lights shall function normally. 4.8.18.3 Temperature range. The shelter assembly shall be cold soaked refrigerated cold chamber at -70F (-56.7OC) for a minimum of 16 hours. The chamber temperature shall then be raised to -65OF (-53.9OC). The she

48、lter assembly doors shall be opened and closed (both the standard door and the emergency escape hatch). Any malfunction shall be recorded and reported. The shelter assembly shall then be visually examined both internally and externally for material degradation, There shall bo no damage to seals or o

49、ther components and all hardware shall operate as specified during and after completion of this test, i) 4.8.18.4 Temperature shock. A representative shelter panel specimen measuring.4 ft (1.22 m) by 8 ft (2.44 m) shall be sub- jected to MIL-CT&81O8 Method 503.1. There shall be no separation, cracks, delamination or degradation of physical properties after completion of this test. 4.8.18.5 Heat transfer. The shelter assembly shall be subjected to heat transfer test in accordance with MIL-STD-907, Par 5.2.8.1. The overall heat transfer coefficient shall be determi
