This specification covers the general requirements for an aircraft rigid seat survival kit (RSSK), containing survival equipment, for use by aircrewmen during and following e

In the event

14、 of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Detail specification. The individual item requirements shall be as specified herein and in accordance with the applicable detail specificat

15、ion. In the event of any conflict between requirements of this specification and the detail specification, the latter shall govern. The rigid seat survival kit (RSSK) furnished under this specification shall be a product which is qualified for listing on the applicable Q

17、ualified Products List at the time set for opening of bids (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.3 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.4 and 6.4). 3.4 Selection of specifications and standards. Speci- fications and standards for necessary commodities and serv

18、ices not specified herein or in the applicabl detail specifications shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.5 Materials and components. Materials and components shall conform to applicable specifications and as specified herein and in the applicable detail specification. Materials which

19、are not covered by applicable specifications or which are not specifically described herein, or in the applicable detail specification, shall be of the best quality, of the lightest practicable weight, and suitable for the purpose intended. b 3.5.1 Metal parts. All metal parts shall be of a co-rrosi

20、on resistant material or treated in a manner to render them adequately resistant to corrosion. 3.5.1.1 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals, such as defined by MIL-STD-889 shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion with protective c

21、oatings. 3.5.2 Nonmagnetic materials. Nonmagnetic materials shall be used for all components except where magnetic materials offer definite advantages. 3.5.3 Nonmetallic materials. 3.5.3.1 Fiberglass. Fiberglass, if used in the construction of the container, shall be manufactured in accordance with

22、the require- ments of MIL-P-9400. The fiberglass material shall conform to the requirements of L-P-383. The maximum resin content shall be 33 percent. 3.5.4 Protective treatment. When materials are used in the construction of the rigid seat survival kit that are subject to corrosion in oxygen, salt

23、air, or other atmospheric conditions likely to occur during service usage, they shall be protected against such corrosion in a manner that shall in no way prevent compliance with the performance 4 - Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-req

24、uirements of this specification. that shall chip or scale during normal service life, or under extremes of atmospheric conditions, shall not be used. Any protective coating or finish 3.5.4.1 Aluminum alloy parts. Where practicable, aluminum alloy parts shall be covered with an anodic film conforming

25、 to MIL-A-8625. 3.5.5 Fungus-proof materials. Materials which are nutrients for fungi shall not be used where it is practicable to avoid them. Where used ana not hermetically sealed, they shall be treated with a fungicidal agent acceptable to the acquiring activity. However, if they will be used in

26、a hermetically sealed enclosure, fungicidal treatment will not be necessary. 3.5.6 Standard parts. MS and AN standard parts shall be used where they suit the purpose, and shall be identified by their part number. on the date of invitation to bid, commercial parts may be used, provided they conform t

27、o the requirements of this specification. In applications for-which no suitable standard part is in effect 3.5.7 Deleterious fumes. Materials or material treatments which shall cause toxic reaction in this application or transfer odor of an obnoxious or unpleasant type shall not be used. 3.5.8 Threa

28、ds. 3.5.8.1 Screw threads. Screw threads shall conform to MIL-S-8879. 3.5.8.2 Pipe threads. Pipe threads shall conform to FED-STD-H28/8. 3.6 Design and construction, The rigid seat survival kit (RSSK) shall be designed and oriented in such a manner as to accommodate and provide a maximum of comfort,

29、 convenience, and freedom from hazard for the aircrewman (lower limit 3 percentile man, upper limit 98 percen- tile man, as specified in ACEL Report No. 533). The seat kit shall be designed or oriented in such a manner as to integrate satisfactorily with the airframe, seat, and aircrewmans personal

30、equipment. The seat kit shall be designed to accommodate the applicable survival equipment within the configuration envelope. The seat kit shall be designed such that any hardware, handles, or other equipment protruding above the seat kit shall not cause pressure points or discomfort to the aircrewm

31、an during service usage, ejection, or possible crash loads. The container shall provide attachment to the aircrewmans torso harness such that it will stay with the aircrewman during ejection and fall. The seat kit when installed in the seat shall be compatible with the in-service adjustment of the s

32、eat and maintain the in-service pilots eye reference level requirement and accommodate the 3 to 98 percentile aircrewman. As a design goal, in aircraft where the in-service adjustment of the ejection seat is physically limited by the anthropometry of the 3 or 98 percentile aircrewnan, the i . . f Pr

Such a design

34、 would require the approval of the Naval Air Systems Command. The optimum design of the RSSK shall be such that the components affecting the ejection seat to RSSK and torso harness restraint subassembly shall confom to the general arrangement shown in figure 1. 3.6.1 Operation. The rigid seat surviv

35、al kit shall be designed to allow the following operations: a. Removal of the kit from the aircraft for servicing, packing, etc., without the use of special tools for detaching or attaching service lines from the aircraft to the kit and without repacking the container. b. Normal abandonment of the a

36、ircraft after a flight, leaving the RSSK in the aircraft by actuating the quick release fittings of the restraint subassembly from the torso harness. c. Ejection with subsequent manual release of the release handle causing the bottom container to separate and fall away from the contoured container l

37、id secured to the aircrewman. The bottom container as it falls to full line stretch actuates the inflation system of the life raft causing it to inflate. The raft and survival equipment shall be secured to the aircrewman by means of the dropline which is connected to the container bottom and to the

38、container lid. The manual release shall operate with an upward pull on the release handle releasing the container bottom from the container lid and aircrewman. 3.6.2 Components. Unless otherwise specified, the rigid seat survival kit shall consist of the following components: a. Basic container. b.

39、Comfort cushion. subassembly. c. Ejection seat to RSSK and torso harness restraint d. Release handle and container locking mechanism. e. Container dropline. f. The contoured container lid of the RSSK shall conform to the contour coordinates of Drawing 64A119D1 and the envelope dimensions and general design specified in the applicable detail specificatio

44、n. 3.6.2.1.2 Container bottom. The container bottom shall be designed to accommodate the life raft and applicable survival equipment within the maximum interior space consistent with configuration, strength, and other applicable requirements. The container bottom shall provide lid supports and shall

45、 be designed for attachment thereto of a release handle, locking mechanism, actuating cables, radio beacon bracket, and container dropline. from any defect, burr or sharp edge, and the attachments for hardware components shall not damage or abrade the life raft or survival equipment under all condit
