Marine Corps, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope.

2、 This specification covers requirements for scarlet stripes for dress trousers. 1.2 Classification. The stripe shall be the following types as specified (see 6.2): Type I - 2 inches finished width (general officer). Type II - 1-1/2 inches finished width (officer). Type III - 1-1/8 inches finished wi

13、The basic material broadcloth, scarlet shade 2501, conforming C-29405 shall be cloth, wool to type I of MIL- 3.3.2 Thread. The thread shall be cotton, soft finish, ticket No. 40, three-ply bleached white, conforming to type IA2 of V- T-276 for basting edges of stripes. 3.4 Construction. 3.4.1 Manufa

14、cturina requirements. The stripe shall be made of a single-ply of basic material, cut to widths of 4 inches for type I; 3 inches for type II, and 1-3/4 to 1-7/8 inches for type III and 1-1/8 inches for type IV. 3.4.2 Cuttinq. Cut the stripes in lengths of 100 2 3/8 inches long. 3.4.3 Fold and baste

15、edaes. Fold under raw edges at both sides of the stripe, butting the turned under raw edge portion to a finished width of 2 inches for type I and 1-1/2 inches for type II. Type III stripe shall be folded under at both sides of the stripe approximately 3/8 inch to a finished width of 1-1/8 inches. Ty

16、pe IV stripe shall be folded under, butting the turned under raw edge portion to the finished 9/16 inch width. Baste along the folded edges with stitch type 101 and stitching type EFa-1 in accordance with FED-STD-751, 5 to 7 stitches per inch with a stitching margin of 1/4 inch & 1/16 inch. 3.5 Work

17、manship. - The finished stripe shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibilitv for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsibie for the performance of all inspecti

18、on requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform

19、any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibilitv for comiJliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this speci

20、fication shall become a part of the contractors overall - inspection system or quality program. 21、e responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submittedtothe Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not autho

22、rize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material . 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance. Where certificates of compliance are permitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine th

23、e validity of the certificat ion. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.4) 2. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5) 4.3 Inspection conditions. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a

24、ll inspections shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.2), inspection and testing shall be made on a completed fabricated stripe for all provisions of this specification. The presence of any defect or failure to pass an

25、y of the test shall be cause for rejection of the first article. The number of units to be inspected shall be specified by the contracting officer. -ir 4.5 Qualitv conformance inspection. 4.5.1 Testinu of components. Testing of components shall be in accordance with the applicable subsidiary specifi

26、cations and standards to the extent appiicable, except that this specification shall govern in the event of conflict. A contractors certificate of compliance may be accepted in lieu of test results for cotton thread. 4.5.2 Examination of the end item. The end item shall be examined for the defects l

27、isted below. The unit of product shall . be one stripe. The lot size shall be expressed in units of one stripe each. The provisions for the finished measurements examination of the finished stripe shall be as specified in 3.4.2 and 3.4.3. The end item shall be examined for the defects listed bel

30、ow. The unit of product shall be one stripe. The lot size shall be expressed in units of one stripe each. The sample size shall be in accordance with inspection level S-4 of c MIL-STD-105. 31、mination of packauina. Shipping containers fully prepared for delivery shall be examined for the defects listed below to determine conformance to packaging, packing and marking requirements. The sample unit shall be one chipping container fully prepared for delivery with the exception that it need n

32、ot be sealed. The lot size shall be the number of containers in the inspection lot. The inspection level shall be 5-2 of MIL-STD-105. (see 6.5). Any component damaged, affecting serviceability. Inadequate application of components, such as incomplete closure of container

34、flaps, improper taping, loose strapping, inadequate stapling, bulging or distortion of container. Number of bundles per shipping container is more or less than required. Number of stripes per bundle is more or less than required i/ i/ For this defect, one bundle shall be examined from each shipping

35、container in the sample 5. PACKAGING S,1 Packaaina. Packaging shall be level A or commercial as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. Each stripe shall be folded to one-eighth of its length. Twenty-five (25) stripes so folded shall be securely tied in a bundle with suitable twine or tape. 5,1.2 Commer

36、cial. Commercial packaging shall afford adequate protection against deterioration and physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the first receiving activity. The contractor may use his standard practice provided it meets the requirements specified for commercial packing. 5,2 Packinu.

37、 Packing shall be level Ac B or commercial as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. 5.2,. Method 1. Sixteen (16) bundles (400 stripes) packaged as specified in 5-1 shall be packed in a shipping container conforming to class-weather resistant, size No. 3A of MIL-B-17757 and assembled, closed, and reinf

38、orced as specified in the appendix to the box specification. In addition, each container shall have the contents completely covered on the toD and bottom with a sheet of 30-pound minhum basis weight kraft gaper conforming to grade B of UU-P-268. 7 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or netw

When specified (see 6.2), three level B shipping containers (1200 stripes) shall be overpacked in a fiberboard shipping container conforming to class-weather resistant, size No. 4 of MIL-B-17757. 5.2.2 Level B. Sixteen (16) bundles (400

40、 stripes) shall be packed as specified in 5.2.1.1 except the shipping containers shall conform to class-domestic, size No. 3A of MIL-B-17757. The fiberboard used in fabricating the box shall be grade 275. 5.2.3 Commercial. The stripes shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe

41、 delivery at destination. Containers shall be in accordance with Uniform Freight Classification Rules, National Motor Freight Classification Rule and ,S. Postal Service Manual or reguiations of other carriers applicable to the mode of transportation. 5.3 Markina. In addition to any special marking r

42、equired by the contract or order, unit packages, intermediate packages, and shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-129, 6. NOTES (This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not mandatory.) 6.1 Intended

43、use. The stripes covered by this specification are intended for use on dress trousers worn by general officers, officers, and noncommissioned officers of the U.S. Marine Corps and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps personnel. 6.2 Orderinu data. Procurement documents should specify the following:

44、6.2.1 Procurement reuuirements. (a) Title, number, and date of this specification, (b) Type required (see 1.2). The standard sample and color sample may be obtained from the procuring activit

46、y or as directed by the contracting officer. 6.4 First article. When a first article is required, it shall be inspected and approved under the appropriate provisions of FAR 52.209. The first article should be a preproduction sample. The contracting officer should specify the appropriate type of firs

47、t article and the number of units to be furnished. The contracting officer should also include specific instructions in acquisition documents regarding arrangements for selection, inspection and approval of the first article. 6.5 Acceptance criteria. The acceptance criteria below are recommended for

48、 use. The acceptance criteria as specified in the contract or purchase order shall be binding. Unless otherwise specified, the following acceptance criteria are in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 6.5.1 For end item visual examination. An acceptance quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per

49、 hundred units, of 1.5 is recomended. 6.5.2 For end item dimensional examination. An AQL, expressed 6.5.3 For packasins examination. An AQL, expressed in terms of in terms of defects per hundred units, of 1.5 is recommended. defects per hundred units, of 2.5 is recommended. 6.6 Chanses from previous issue.
