This specification establishes the requirements for manufacture and acceptance of a single bridgewire electric squib, refe

The squib is an electrically initiated pyrotechnic device designed to function as the first element in the firin

11、g train of a rocket motor. The squib is a single bridgewire type, Class A, as defined in MIL-1-23659. 3.2 Characteristics. 3.2.1 Performance. 3.2.1.1 Electrical. 3.2.1.1.1 Electrostatic discharge. 13、Adc) applied through the leads for 5 minutes over a temperature range from -80 to +200 degrees Fahrenheit (OF). 3.2.1.1.4 3.2.1.2 - Seal. The leak rate of the squib shall not exceed 1 x Bridgewire resistance. Squib bridgewire resistance shall be 1.0 50.1 ohm. atmospheric cubic centimeters per second

14、 (std atm cm 3/s) with one atmosphere differential pressure. standard 3.2.1.3 Radiographic. The squib shall show no evidence of loose powder, voids, or fissures in the charge or insulators. 3.2.1.4 Function. 3.2.1.4.1 All-fire sensi t ivit y. 3.2.1.4.1.1 All-fire, 3 amperes (A). The squib shall func

15、tion with the appli- cation of 3.0 kO.1 A to the leads, and shall produce a pressure output of 170 pounds per square inch (lb/in 2, in a 5 cubic centimeter (cm 3) pressure vessel within 5 milliseconds (ms) maximum after fire switch closure. 16、3.2.1.4.1.2 All-fire Bruceton. The squib shall have a calculated 3 A maximum, 3.2.1.4.2 No-f ir e sensit ivit p. 3.2.1.4.2.1 No-fire, 1 A/1 Watt (W), 5 minutes.) The squib shall not function with the application of 1 A of current and an associated power of 1 W minimum to the leads for 5 minutes mini

17、mum. 3.2.1,4.2.2 No-fire Bruceton. The squib shall have a calculated 1 A minimum, 1.0 percent no-fire point with a 95 percent confidence level. 3.2.2 Environmental. The squib shall not be damaged, nor shall safety or subsequent performance be degraded, by exposure to any natural combination of servi

18、ce use environments. These shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following environments. Test 103, Procedures 1 and 2, and shall be safe to handle and dispose of following the test. 3.2.2.2 Shock. The squib shall meet the shock requirements of MIL-1-23659, and shall function and output as

19、specified in 3.2.1.4.1.1 following the test. 3.2.2.3 Temperatur e-shock/humidit y/aiti tude. The squib shall meet the temperature-shock/humidity/altitude requirements of MIL-1-23659, and shall function and output as specified in 3.2.1.4.1.1 following the test. 3.2.2.4 Vibration. The squib shall meet

20、 the requiremnts of MIL-STD-810, Method 514.2, Procedure V, Part 2, Curve AH, and shall function and output as specified in 3.2.1.4.1.1 following the test. of MIL-1-23659, and shall function and output as specified in 3.2.1.4.1.1 following the test. 99 percent all-fire point with a 95 percent confid

21、ence level. 3.2.2.1 Forty-foot droe. The squib shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-331, 3.2.2.5 Six-foot drop. The squib shall meet the six-foot drop requirements 3.3 Design and construction. 3.3.1 Production drawings. The squib shall be manufactured and assembled in accordance with Drawing 1137A

22、S225 and as specified herein. 3.3.2 Standards of manufacture. The squib shall be manufactured, inspected, and tested to meet the requirements specified herein. 3.3.3 Workmanshie. The requirement for first class workmanship shall not preclude the use of time- and labor-saving techniques, provided tha

23、t reliability and safety will in no way be jeopardized. 3.3.4 Test equipment calibration. Test equipment shall be calibrated and main- tained in accordance with a plan meeting the requirements of MIL-C-45662. When c specified in the contract or purchase order, the calibration plan shall be approved

When specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor shall prepare and submit to the Government for approval

25、prior to testing, a test plan and test procedure in accordance with MIL-STD-831 (see 6.2.2). 3.4 First article. 3.4.1 Preproduction sample. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor shall deliver a preproduction sample of 250 squibs to the testing activity designat

26、ed in the contract or purchase order for prepro- duction testing (see 6.2.1). The preproduction sample shall be manufactured using the same methods, materials, processes, and procedures proposed for production. Any production prior to acceptance of the preproduction sample is at the risk of the cont

27、ractor. . 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase ord

28、er, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless dis- approved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections a

29、re deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements (see 6.2.1). 4.1.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) Preproduction inspections (see 4.1.2.1). (b) (c) Quality conformance inspections (see 4

30、.2). In-process inspections (see 4.1.2.1, 4.2, and 4.4.1). 4.1.2 Special tests and examinations. 4.1.2.1 Preproduction sample. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the first 250 squibs produced under any contract shall constitute the preproduction sample (see 3.4.1 and 6.2.1

31、). Prior to environmental testing, the preproduction sample shall be subjected to the in-process inspections of Table I, Group I, The preproduction sample shall then be subjected to the tests of Table I, Groups II through IX, in the sequence shown. Failure of any squib to meet any of the acceptance

32、criteria specified herein shall cause rejection of the preproduction sample. 4.2 Quality conformance inspections. Prior to formation of the inspection lot, the squib shall be subjected to the in-process inspections of Table II, Group A. The inspection lot (see 4.2.1) shall then be subjected to accep

33、tance testing of Table II, Group B through Group E. An inspection lot of squibs, when ordered, shall contain not less than 151 nor more than 500 squibs, including those squibs required for destructive tests (see 6.2.1). An inspection lot, as defined in MIL-STD-105, shall consist of completed unit

38、s fabricated froin the same materials, using the same processes and procedures under the same conditions, and offered for inspection at the same time. The inspection lot represented by the sample shall be rejected when any one or more of the following defec

42、ts occurs in a single squib: (a) When any squib functions other than when specified in the functional test of 4,4.5.1. (b) When any squib fails to function on the first firing attempt. Unless otherwise specified herein, the test methods of 4.4 shall be performed under the following conditions: (a) Temperature: (b) Altitude: (c) Humidity: Room ambient of 65 25 to 95 25F. Normal ground ele

44、vation. Maintained between 10 and 70 percent relative humidity. 4.3.2 Test and inspection equipment facilities. The contractor shall furnish and maintain all necessary test equipment, facilities, and personnel necessary to perform all acceptance tests. The test .equipment shallbe of sufficient - acc

45、uracy and quality to permit satisfactory performance of the required tests and examinat ions. 4.3.3 Test equipment calibration. Test equipment shall be calibrated in accord- ance with 3.3.4. 4.3.4 Test plan and test procedures. Test plan and test procedures shall be in accordance with 3.3.5. 4.3.5 G

46、ages. The contractor shall provide whatever gages are necessary and adequate to ensure that the material to which this specification applies shall meet the dimensional requirements shown on Drawing 1137AS225. When specified in the contract or purchase order, the Government will furnish drawings of p

47、ertinent Navy final inspection gages (see 6.2.1). 4.4 Test methods. 4.4.1 In-process inspections. 4.4.1.1 Drawing inspection. The drawing inspection shall be performed on each lot of squibs in accordance with the sampling plan and Drawing 1137AS225. 4.4.2 Electrical. To determine conformance with 3.

48、2.1.1, the following test shall be performed. To deter

49、mine sensitivity to electrostatic discharge, connect a 500 picofarad (pF) 25 percent capacitor charged to 25,000 1 500 V, and a 5,000 ohm f 5 percent resistor in a series circuit between the two shorted squib leads and the squib case. The series connection shall be rnain- tained for 60 s minimum. Switching on this circuit shall be accomplished by closing a vacuum relay. The squib used for this test shall be temperature-conditioned at 70 25V for 2 hours minimum. To be acceptable, the squib shall meet the requirements of 3.2.1.1.1. Dielectric strength.
