Samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information - to t e contractor (see 6.3). Variations from this

20、 specification may appear in the sample in which case this specification shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified, the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3 and 6.2). 3.3 Material. 3.3.1 Basic material. The basic materials for the skirts sh

21、all be as specified in 3.3.1.1 thru 3.3.1.2. wool, 10.0 - c 5 oz/yd, Shade Blue 3346, conforming to MIL-C-24910. twill, 6.7 oz per sq yd, Shade White 3006 conforming to MIL-C-87052. * 3.3.2 Lining material. The material for lining the Class 2 skirt shall be a nylon tricot warp knit, 2.7 oz per sq yd

22、 shade White 3006 conforming to 3.3.1.1 Class 1. The blue skirt fabric shall be a tropical, polyester and 3.3.1.2 Class 2. The white skirt fabric shall be a texturized polyester MIL-C-87059. * 3.3.3 Fusible interlining. The skirt waistband and pocket welts shall be fused with a woven or nonwoven the

23、rmal bonded consisting of 85-100% polyester with the remaining fiber being nylon. The material shall be free of chemical binders. The fusible adhesive system shall be a polyester paste dot uniformly distributed over one side of the material. The color shall approximate the shade oftbase fabric. The

24、total weight of the nonwoven fusible shall be 1.1 t ,2 oz/yd . All dyed, finished, fusible interlining materials shall show fastness to laundering (3 cycles) and dry cleaning (3 cycles), equal to or better than the standard sample. As a minimum level of acc

29、eptability, or when no standard sample is available the finished, dyed fusibles shall show a minimum of llfairl fastness after 3 launderings and 3 dry cleanings (see Table III). 3.3.4 Pocketing. The material for the front and back plies of the pockets shall be fabric conforming to class 1 of MIL-C-4

30、3718. The color of the pocketing for the class 1 blue skirt shall be dark grey or black and for the class 2 white skirt it shall be white. 3.3.5 Tape, waistband, non-slip. The woven non-slip tape for the waistband shall be made of polyester or a blend of- polyester/nylon natural or white in color, 1

31、/2 to 7/8 inch in width with two or three rows of nitrile or chloroprene rubber thread woven or stitched to the tape. The rows of rubber thread shall be positioned a minimum of 3/16 inch from edges of tape. The finished tape shall not shrink more than 2.0 percent in length direction when subjected t

33、L-S-87053C(NU) * 3.3,6 Thread. The thread used for seaming and stitching the skirts shall be a cov-polyester thread, ticket NO. 70, 2 or 3 ply conforming to MIL-T-43548. The thread for the class 1 blue skirt shall be dyed shade black AA, C.A. 66043, and shade White AH, Cable No. 66050 for the class

34、2 white skirt, in accordance with the DoD Standard Shades for Sewing Threads. The use of polyester-covered, polyester-core thread is not allowed. 3.3.6.1 Colorfastness of threads. The dyed threads shall show colorfastness to laundering, wet-dry cleaning, and light equal to or better than the standar

35、d sample when tested as specified in MIL-T-43548, As a limit of acceptability, or when no standard sample is available, the dyed threads shall show a minimum of “good“ colorfastness to laundering, wet-dry cleaning, and light when tested as specified in MIL-T-43548. 3.3.7 Labels. * 3.3.7.1 Combinatio

36、n label. Class 1 skirt shall have a combination personal/identification/instruction label conforming to type VI, classes 10 and 15 of DDD-L-20. Class 2 skirts shall have a separate personal/identification combination label conforming to Type VI, classes 1 and 10 of DDD-L-20, and a separate instructi

37、on label conforming to type VI, class 3 of DDD-L-20. The printing shall show good fastness to laundering and dry cleaning. 40、-45-81 FORMULA III The following instructions apply to Class 2 skirts: FILL MACHINE WASH, PERMANENT PRESS CYCLE, HOT WASH. DO NOT MIX COLORS. MACHINE WITH CLOTHES TO 2/3 CAPACITY. USE HEAVY DUTY SOAP OR DETERGENT. PRESPOT STAINS WITH A LAUNDRY STAIN PRETREATMENT. TUMBLE DRY USING A WARM SETTING OR S

41、HAPE AND HAND DRY. REMOVE AT ONCE FROM DRYER. OR IF NEEDED USE A NON-CHLORINE BLEACH. IF TOUCH-UP IRONING IS NEEDED, USE A WARM IRON. FOLLOW NAVEDTRA MANUAL 414-01-45-81 FORMULA II 3.3.7.2 Size label. Each skirt shall have a separate size label conforming to Type VI, class 2 and shall bear the follo

42、wing inscription: SIZE: 14R (EXAMPLE) STOCK NO: 8410-00-000-0000 (EXAMPLE) The length (short, regular, or long) may be abbreviated as S, R, or Le 3.3.7.3 Removable size ticket. Each skirt shall have a commercial type size ticket attached to the outside of the waistband above the left back dart. The

43、ticket shall be 3 inches long and 1 inch high, made of a suitable plain white cardboard. The corners of the ticket may be double perforated for ease in tacking. The size (12R - Example) shall be printed or stamped on the upper left hand corner in black or blue ink. The lettering for the size shall b

44、e 1/4 inch in height. The hook and eye for wa

45、istband shall be of the clinch type conforming to North and Judd (Hook Flex H-29 and E-40) or equal (see 6.5). The finish of both components shall be nickel plate (see 4.4.1). 3.3.9 Slide fastener. The slide fastener shall be type I, style la (continuous chain) or style 3 (pre-assembled), size LS, s

46、hort tab pull of V-F-106. The length of the style 3 slide fastener shall be 7 inches. The slide fastener chain shall be a continuous monofilament nylon or polyester coil. The color of all components shall be black for the class 1 skirt and white for class 2 skirt, or the color of the continuous coil

47、 may be clear. The complete slide fastener shall not shrink more than 2 percent when tested as specified in V-F-106. The style la (continuous chain) slide fastener requires the application of a slider and bottom stop during production of the slacks. 33.9.1 Colorfastness. The dyed slide fastener tape

48、 shall show colorfastness to laundering equal to or better than the standard sample when tested as specified in V-F-106. As a minimum level of acceptability, or when no standard sample is available, the tape shall show a minimum of rfgoodll colorfastness to laundering when tested as specified in V-F

49、-106. 3.4 Desi n. The skirt shall be unhemmed with a one panel front and two panel bdslide fastener closure at center back, two straight welt pockets on front, a hemmed kick pleat, four waist darts, a one piece non-slip waistband with five belt loops and a hook and eye waistband closure (see Figure 1). 3.4.1 Figvre, The figure is furnished for information purposes only.
