5、E FLIGHT GEAR SHALL BE PALLETIZED IN ACCORDANCE VATH THE PALLETIZING WRS LISTED IN TABLE I. THE UNIT LOADS OF FLIGHT GEAR MAY BE OMITTED FROM THE TRUCKLOAD OR ANY COMBINATION OF FLIGHT GEAR UNIT LOADS MAY BE LOADED. THE CORRECT PALLET BASE, DETAILS DOR E, SHALL BE USED FOR THE UNIT LOAD BEING SHIPPE

6、D. THE PROCEDURES AND PRACTICES DESCRIBED HEREIN ARE INTENDED FOR 40 FT FLATBED TRAILERS, WITH THE TRAILERS TANDEM AXLES LOCATED IN THE “WESTERN POSITION“ (AT THE EXTREME REAR CF THE TRAILER). DO NOT USE TRAILERS WITH METAL FLOORS. THE MINES ONLY SHALL BE COVERED WIM A FIRE RESISTANT, WATERPROOF TAR

7、PAULIN. MINES SHALL BE COVERED WITH THE TARPAULIN PRIOR TO APPLYING THE TIE-DOWN CHAINS. PROTECTOR BOARDS SHALL BE USED BETWEEN THE TARPAULIN AND THE CHAINS. TARPAULINS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR THE FLIGHT GEAR. THE LOAD SHOWN ON PAGE 3 HAS HAD THE TARPAULIN OMITTED FOR CLARiTY. LOCATE PROTECTOR BOARDS O

8、NE IMMEDIATELY FORWARD AND ONE IMMEDIATELY AFT OF THE PALLET BOARD (DETAIL DOR E) TO PREVENT FORE ANDAFT MOVEMENT OF PALLET BOARD. THE UNIT LOADS IN THE SECOND LAYER SHALL BE POSITIONED ON THE APPROPRIATE PALLET BASE, SEE DETAILS C AND D. THE PALLET BASE IS POSITIONED ON TOP OF THE TARPAULIN COVERED

9、 MINES AND LOCATED SO THAT IT RESTS OVER THE MINES CRATE TOP OUTER TWO CROSS MEMBERS. CHAINS AND LOAD BINDERS SHALL BEUSED FOR TIEDOWNS TO SECURE THE LOAD TO THETRAILER ANDTHEY SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS. A. B. C. CHAINS AND FITTINGS SHALL BE 3/8 INCH AND LOAD BINDERS 3/B INCH CAPACITY. C

10、HAINS, FITTINGS AND LOADBINDERS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM SAFE WORKING LOAD OF 5000 LBS. “LEBUS“ PIPE LOADBINDERS SHALL BE SAFElY WIRED WITH 16 GAUGE SOFT ANNEALED IRON WIRE OR SECURED USING THE END PIECE OF THE 3/8 CHAIN. PRIOR TO LOADING THE TRAILER AND DURING PRELOADING INSPECTION REQUIRED BY NAMEPS O

11、P 2165 AND REPORTED ON DD FORM 626, THE CHAINS, FITTINGSAND LOADBINDERS SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR STRETCH, GOUGING, BENT LINKS, WEAR AND ANY OTHER NOTICEABLE DEFECTS. THE INSPECTION SHALL CONFIRM THAT THE CHAINS AND LOADBINDERS HAVE BEEN INSPECTEDAND SHALL SO NOTE ON ITEM NO. 22 OF DD FORM 626. ANY DEF

12、ICIENCY SHALL BECAUSE FOR A REJECTION OF A CHAIN OR LOADBINDER. THE LADING SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM CHAIN DAMAGE WHERE THE CHAIN GOES OVER THE MINE CRATE AND THEUNIT LOADS BY INSERTING A 2 X 6 BETWEEN THE CHAIN AND THE UNIT LOAD. THE MblXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT OF THE TRACTOR-TRAILER AND THE ALLOWANCE AXLE

13、 WEIGHTS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CARRIER. THE CARRIER WILL ADVISE THE SHIPPER OF THESE LIMITATIONS AND THE SHIPPER SHALL LOAD THE TRAILER IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE TRACTOR-TRAILER WILL NOT EXCEED THESE LIMITATIONS.
