Copper alloys C70600 and C71500 condenser tubes shall conform to ASTH B 111 (see 6.2) with supplementary requirements 52, 53 and Sb as modified herein. 3.1.1 pecovered materars. Unless otherwise specified herein, material covered by

11、 this specification shall be new and may be produced from recovered materials to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing the intended use. The term recovered materials means materials which have been collected OK recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials

12、, as opposed to virgin rau materials. that the use of rebuilt products is allowed under this specification unless specifically specified. None of the above shall be interpreted to mean 3.2 Chemicalanelucis. Chemical analysis of the tube shall conform to that in ASTM B 111 including the tighter trace

13、 element limits listed HS applicable to material for subsequent welding applications. 3.3 Mechanical prorierties and grain size. Tubes shall conform to the requirements of ASTH B 111 for flatteningand grain size. When specified (see 6.2), tubes shall conform to the mechanical property requirements o

14、f ASTH B 111. Tubes shell meet the expansion test requirements of this specification. 3.4 Soundness. Tubes shall be of uniform temper, free of grooves, indentations, cracks, laps and blisters to the extent determinable by visual or nondestructive testing. Nondestructive testing shall be by eddy curr

15、ent and hydrostatic cests to ASTM B 111. en specified (see 6.2). tubes shall be hydrostatic tested by the requirements.of ASTM E 111, ultrasonic tested to the requirements of 6.6.3, and liquid penetrant inspected in accordance with 4.4.2. 3.5 Cleanliness. The inner and outer surface of the tube shal

16、l be delivered clean, free of dirt, oils, grease, acid, chips, carbonaceous material, free carbon, sulfur bearing compounds or any other foreign material that render the tubes unfit for cheir intended use. compounds, carbon of carbon bearing Compounds, from lubricants used in forming, machining or o

17、ther processing and marking materials used for in-process identifi- cation shall be removed from the material prior to any hear: treatment. shall be cleaned either by acid pickling after heat treating or by using.an inert or reducing atmosphere during heat treatment. 18、ed following acid cleaning. Contaminants such as sulfur or sulfur bearing Tubing 3.5.1 Mercury ccntamlnatioq. he tubes shell be free of all contamination. During the manufacturing processes, tests, and inspections the product to be offered for acceptance shall not have come into direct contact with

19、mercury or any of its compounds nOK vith any mercury hearing device employing a single boundary of containment. 3.6 Dimensions. Dimensions of the tube shall be as specified (diameter, wall thickness and length) (see 6.2). The outside diameter tolerances for tubes acquired to this specificatim shall

20、be as specified in ASiM B 111, Ixit shall be all m the minus side. Esch length of tube 1/2 inch in outsi

21、de dfameter and larger, shall be marked in accordance with HTL-STD-792, types I, II, VII, VI11 or A, with the manufacturers name or identifying mark, specification number, alloy, temper and heat number. packaged, the same information may be provided on a single metal tag securely attached to each pa

22、ckage. On smaller than 1/2 inch outside diameter tubing that is 4, QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS h.1 Responsibili-y. Unless otherwise specified in the contract: or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance af all inspection requirements (examinations and tests as specified her

23、ein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the Contractor may use hi5 own or any other facilities suitable for the perfarmance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Goverment reserves the right to perform any of the insp

24、ections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to emure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibilitv for comPliance, All items shall meet ali requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall

25、become a part of the Contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all r

26、equirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of the manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance CO requirements, however, this does nor. authorize submission of known defective marerial, either indicated oZr actual, nos does it cammit the Government to a

27、ccept defective material. 4.2 Sampling. 4.2.1 m. For sampling purposes, a lot shall consisr. of lengths of tubes of the same composition, temper, and size, hear treated at the came time in the sanie furnace, offered for delivery at the cama time and identifiable by mill records as originating from o

Samples shall be taken at the time the metal is cast. from the same source of molten metal (see 6.3). One sample shall be taken for each

29、group of castings poured simultaneously 4.2.3 Destructive tests. From the lot as defined in 4.2.1, representative samples for expansion test, flattening test, and when required, tension test and microscopFc exanifnaeion 5heii be seiected in accordance with table i (see he wall thickness, (b) Rounded

(c) Rounded indications which are linearly disposed whose center-to- center distance i5 less than 3/16 inch. 4.4.2.2 Defect evaluation, Superficial polishing with 120 grit emery cloth may be used 8s an aide in determining the extent of the indications defi

31、ned in 4.4.2.1. Not more than 5 percent of the wall thickness shall be removed to define the indications. The wall thickness shall not be reduced below minimum specified wall thickness. All areas polished to remove indications shall be reinspected in accordance with t.4.2 to assure that all indicati

32、ons have been removed. 4.4.3 Ultrasonic Inspection, When specified, each tube shall be inspected ultrasonically by the shear wave (angle beam) and the compressional wave techniques. Thic inspection shall be conducted in two opposite circumferential directions and one longitudinal direction. 1;.t tes

34、ater. Proper rotation and through speeds shall be used to ensure 100 percent inspection coverage. The helix shall be adjusted such that the standard reference notches shall each be detected above the alarm level not less than two times during the traverse of each notch. This scanning shall be done w

35、ith the same couplant, search unit alignment and instrument settings as were used during calibration. 3 .r: 3.4 3,4 3.4 3,4 4.4.3.2.8 Acceptance cr-i-teria. Any portion of a tube which produces an indication equal to or greater than the reject levels established during calibration shall not be offer

36、ed for delivery. 4.4.4 Expansion test, Each specimen selected in accordance with 4.2.3 shall be subjected to the expansion test specified in ASTM B 153. diameter shall be increased 50 percent for anneled and 35 percent for light dram tube and shall show no cracking or rupture visible to the unaided
