SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This Specification covers one type of silver-alloy wire. 2. APPLICABLE

Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order, preproduction samples of the wire shall be manufactured using the meth

8、ods and procedures proposed for the production. The sample shall be tested as specified in Section 4 herein and is for the purpose of determining that, prior to startkg production, the contractors production methods are capable of yielding items that comply with the technical requirements of the con

9、tract. After satisfactorily passing all the pre- production tests specified herein, no changes in raw materials and processing of materials for production shall be made without prior written approval of the procuring activity. 3.2 Data requirements. No data is required by this specification or by ap

10、plicable documents referenced in Section 2 unless specified by the contract or order (see 6.2): 3.3 Material. The material shall be a silver-alloy wire, cold-drawn, pickled-bright, and full-hard (wire temper), 3.4 Physical and chemical properties 3.A.1 Tensile properties. The tensile properties of t

11、he wire shall be as follows. The wire temper- strength shall be 3.4 f 0.2 pounds. 3.4.1.2 Elongation. The elongation from n

12、o load to rupture shali be 1.5 1.0 percent. 3.4.2 Diameter (by weight). The diameter shall be 0.007 f 0.0001 3.4.3 Silver. The silver content shall be 85 f 1.0 percent. 3.4.4 Manganese. The manganese content shall be 15 f 1.0 percent. 3.4.5 Total other elements, The total other elements content shal

13、l be inch and the weight per 48 * 1/8 inch length shali be 0.2890 f 0.0080 gram. a maximum of 0.15 percent. 3.5 Workmanship. The material shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from all marks and waves prior to winding on spool, and other de- fects that could adversely affect its use. I 4. QU

14、ALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the I contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance , of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own faciliti

15、es or any commercial l ! laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of i

16、nspections. Inspection of the silver-alloy wire shall be classified as follows: a. Preproduction inspection (see 4.4) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5) 4.3 Sampling 4.3.1 Preproduction sample. A preproduction sample of sufficient Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking p

17、ermitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-W-3235 75 m 7777306 0322705 b _ . - qyantity of the silver-alloy wire manufactured in accordance with 3.1 shall be subjected to three each of the preproduction tests detailed in 4.4 at an activity designated by the procuring activity. Further pro- duction of

18、 the silver-alloy wire by the supplier, prior to the approval of the preproduction sample, shall be at the suppliers risk. 4.3.2 Quality conformance inspection sampling. Except as otherwise specified, the sampling plans and procedures set forth in MIL-STD-105, level II, shaU be used in the determina

19、tion of acceptability of the silver- alloy wire inspected as specified in 4.5. A minimum of 3 feet of wire shall be obtained for inspection from each spool to be sampled. 4.3.3 inspection lot. An inspection lot of wire shall consist of all material presented for acceptance at one time and produced i

20、n a single manufacturing batch under homogeneous conditions of manufacture. . 4.4 Preproduction inspection. The preproduction sample shall satis- factorily pass the quality conformance inspections detailed in 4.5. 4.5 Quality conformance inspection 4.5.1 Visual examination. Visually examine all the

21、wire packages in the lot for conformance with 3.5 and Section 5. 4.5.2 Tensile properties test. Tensile properties shall be determined in accordance with ASTM F 219-59. The tensile properties tests shall be performed at an ambient temperature of 75 f 15 degrees Fahrenheit (F), using a testing machin

22、e with a cross-head speed on one inch per minute and using a 10-irich gage length of wire sample. - 4.5.3 Diameter test. The diameter shall be determined in accordance with ASTM F 205-60 using scales having an accuracy of 10.2 percent. The wire sample shall be 48 f 1/8 inch. I 4.5.4 Silver content t

23、est. The silver content shall be determined in accordance with ASTM E 56-60T. 4.5.5 Manganese content test. The following chemicals and reagents shall be used in this test: a. Sulfuric acid, analytical reagent grade b. Mang

25、anese metal, 99.9 percent pure, analytical reagent grade c. Nitric acid, 1:l solution, analytical reagent grade d. Hydrochloric acid, 1:9 solution, analytical reagent grade (Distilled water shall be used in diluting the master stock solution and the standard solutions . ) 4.5.2.2 Standard preparatio

26、n for calibration curve. The following method shall be used in preparing the standard for the calibration curve: a., Master stock solution. Dissolve 1.000 gram of manganese in approximately 10 milliliters (mi) of sulfuric acid and evaporate excess acid off. Dissolve the salts with sufficient amount

27、of distilled water, Transfer into a liter flask. Dilute the contents with distilled water to the 1000-ml mark and mix well (1,000 ml = 1,000 milligrams (mg) of manganese and 1 ml = 1 mg of manganese). bo Standard solutions. Five standards of solution shall be prepared in accordance with Table I usin

29、lution through a flame photometer in accordance with the manufacturers operating procedure at 403.3 millimicrons (mu) and record the readings. Plot a curve from the readings of percent transmittance against parts per million (PPM). SamDle Curve 4.5.5.3 Procedure. Add 500 mg of sample to a 100-ml bea

30、ker. De- compose the sample with 10 ml of nitric acid and evaporate to l ml of acid. Dilute the salts with 70 ml of distilled water and precipitate the silver with 104 1:9 solution of hydrochloric acid. Filter the silver chloride off and transfer the filtrate into a liter flask and mix well. Transfe

31、r a sample to the atomizer and operate flame photometer in accordance with the manufacturers operating procedure. Determine the percent trans- mittance at 403.3 mp and record the PPM of manganese from the calibration curve. Calculate the percent manganese as follows: * Percent manganese = - A x 100

32、B where: A = Weight of manganese, mg B = Weight of sample, mg 4.6 Acceptance criteria 4.6.1 Preproduction. Failure of any sample to comply with any require- ment of this specification shall be cause for rejection of the sample. 4.6.2 Quality conformance. Acceptance shall be based upon an Acceptable

PREPARATION FOR DELM3RY 5.1 Preservation, packaging and packing. U

34、nless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, the wire shall be wrapped around a 4- to 6-inch diameter spool. Each spool of wire shall be packaged in a moisture-proof container and preserved and packed in accordance with NLIL-P-116, method IC. 5.2 Marking. Each shipping container shall be mar

35、ked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. Marking shall include, but not be limited to, the following infor mation: a. Manufacturers name and location b. Material trade name c. Net weight or volume d. Heat number, batch number and date of manufacture e. Shelf life or storage limitations, if applicable f.

36、Number and revision letter of this specification 5.2.1 .Spool marking. Each spool of wire shall be marked as follows: a. Wire, silver alloy, 0.007 f 0.0001 inch in diameter b. Net weight c. Tare weight d. Gross weight e. Lot number 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. The material purchased in accordance with
