The material shall be vulcanized rubber which meets the requirements specified herein. 3.2 Form. The rubber gasket material shall be furnished in the form specified (see 6.2).

9、This form may be sheets, strips of rectangular cross section, shapes cut from sheets, molded shapes or extruded slinpes. 3.2.1 Sheet. Sheet rubber shall have smooth surfaces and shall have the thickness specified (see U.2). Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the tolerances in thickness specified

10、in table I shall apply. Shcet rubber shall be furnished in rolls 36 =t= 1 inch wide. 3.2.2 Strip. Strip rubber of rectangular cross section shall have smooth surfaces and shall have tho crocs siial dimensions specified see 6.2). Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the tolerances in thickness and w

Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the vulcanized rubber gasket mate- rial shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-190. In ad

17、dition, the identification markings shall indicate the specification number and date of cure (quarter and year). The markings shall be inch high occurring every 6 inches continuously across the sheetand recurring lengthwise every 4 inches on one side only. 3.5 Workmanship. The workmanship shall be s

18、uch as to meet the applicable requirements of this specification. The material shall be free from all foreign matter that may affect the serviceability of the finished product. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4,.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract ar purchase

19、order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the ins

20、pections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services con- form to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Sampling. 4,.2.1 Lot. For the purposes of sampling, examination, and tests, a lot shall consist of not more than 2500 poundsf material of

21、 the same form and dimensions, produced in one plant under essentially the same conditions, and offered for delivery at one time. 4.2.2 Sampling for visual and dimensional examination. For the examination specified in 4.3, repre- sentative samples shall be taken at random from each lot in accordance

24、kely to resull in failure, or to reduce materially the useability of the unit of product for its intended purpose. A minor defect is a defect that is not likely to reduce materially the useability of the unit of product for its intended purpose, or is a deparLure from established standards having li

25、ttle bearing on the effective use or operation of the unil. 42.3 Sampling for quality conformance and produclion check tesLgiJ/For the tests specified in 4.3.4 and 4.3.5, four samples shall be taken from each lot. Each sample shall consist of a quantity of material sufficient to perform all the test

26、s of 4.3.4 or 4,.3.5, as applicable. The samples shall be taken from those of the rolls or gaskets selected in accordance with 4.2.2 and if possible, no two samples shall be taken from the same roll. If ihe materials supplied are of such size or shape that the necessary test specimens cannot be prep

27、ared from them, the supplier shall furnish four sample pieces 6 inches long by 6 inches wide by 0.080 f 0.010 inch thick and one sample piece at least 6 inches long by 4 inches wide by % inch thick. The sample pieces furnished shall be certified to be identical in cure and composition on the materig

Each of the samples taken in accordance with 4.2.2 shall be subjected to surface examinati

29、on for workmanship, appearance, dimensions and tolerances. The sample unit for examination shall be one sheet, strip, shape, or gasket, as applicable, MIL-STD-289, M1L-STD-298, and MIGSTD-407 shall be used to determine and evaluate visual defects. Defect not covered in these standards is odor. Stron

30、g or objectionable odor is a major defect. Also illegible marking or marking not as required shall be considered a minor defect. Some defects to be looked for in this examination are as follows: cuts, tears, punctures, non-uniform texture, lack of flexibility, rough finish, presence of dirt, foreign

31、 material, and imbedded particles. 4,3.2 Examination of preparation for delivery. An inspection shall be made to determine that the preservation, packaging, packing, and marking comply with the requirements in section 5 of this speci- fication. Defect3 shall be scored in accordance with table IV. Fo

32、r examination of interior packaging the sample unit shall be one shipping container fully prepared for delivery selected at random just prior to tlie closing operations. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. Defects of closure listed shall be examined on shipping containers fully prepare

33、d for delivery. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers in the end item inspection lot. The inspection level shall be S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 defects per hundred units. TABLE IV. 36、f the number of defects exceeds the applicable acceptance number of table III, this shall be cause for rejection of the entire lot represented by the sample. 43.4 Production check tests. Production check tests shall be conducted on samples from (or repre- senting) tlie first lot of malerial and from

37、 every tenth lot thereafter. All the tests specified in 4.4 shall be conducled. 4.3.5 Quality conformance tests. Quality conformance tests shall be conducled on samples from (or represenling) all lots on which production check tests were not performed. The tests specified in I40.1, 4-.4d2, and 1143

38、shall be conducted. 4*.3.6 Aclion in case of non-conformance. If any of the samples in the production check tests or quality conformance tests is found not to be in conformance with the requirements of this specification, this shall be cause for rejection of the lot which it represents. Furthermore,

39、 production check .tests shall be performed 011 each succeeding lot of the contract or purchase order. This additional testing shall be discontinued, except as specified in %.3.4, after four successive lots have passed the production check lests. 44* Tes1 melliods. 4.4 I Tensile properties. Tensile

40、properties shall be determined in accordance with methods 411 I, 4421, and 4.131, respectively, of Fed. Test Method Std:No. 601. Test Method Std. NO. 601 using a Shore A durometer. A 3-second reading shall be taken. The specimens shall be at lea

42、st x inch thick but not more than inch thick. Plied-up specimens may be used. 41.4.3 Specfic gravity. The specific gravity shall be determined by the hydrostatic method 14011 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 601. 4.4.4# Tensile strength after oven aging. Tensile strength shall be determined, after oven

43、aging in accordance with method 7221 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 601. The aging period shall be 46 f x hours at 90“ 1“ C. (194“ f 8“ F.). Determination shall be made not less than 20 hours nor more than 48 hours after removal from the oven. 4.4.5 Hot compression set. Hot compression set shall be de

44、termined by method 3311 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 601, with specimens clamped to 4-0 percent deflection and aged for 46 f hours at 90 f 1“ C. (194“ f 1.8“ F.). 4.4#.6 Tensile properties after light-aging. Specimens shall be light-aged in accordance with method 7311 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 60

45、1, except that the specimens shall be 0.080 A 0.010 inch thick and the exposure time shall be 50 f hours with four of the Corex D“ filters removed. After light- aging, the tensile properties shall be determined as specified in 4.48.1. 4#.4.7 Delamination. The delamination test shall be conducted in

46、accordance with method 6311 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 601. 4!.4.8 Tensile strength after immersion. The tensile strength shall be determined after immersion in distilled water in accordance with method 6111 of Fed. Test Method Std. No. 601 except that the im- mersion temperature shall be 100“ f 1

47、1“ C. (212“ f 2“ F.) and the immersion time shall be 70 f hours. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Packaging. Packaging shall he level A, B, or C, as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. 5.1.1.1 Sheets. Sheets (see 3.2.1) shall be tightly rolled and securely tied or banded to prevent roll- ing. Each r

48、oll shall be wrapped with not less than two thicknesses of 60-pound minimum weight kraft paper conforming to PPP-B-1055, E-2 secured with 2-inch wide tape conforming to PPP-T-76. 5.1.1.2 Strips. Strips (see 3.2.2) shall be coiled and securely tied to prevent uncoiling, ER gross weight of fiberboard

49、container shall not exceed 20 pounds. 5.1.1.3 Cut, molded and extruded gaskets. Gaskets (see 3.2.3) shall be unit protected in accordance with method III of MIL-P-116 and packaged in containers as specified in 5.1.1.2. 5.1.2 Level B. 5.1.2.1 Sheets. Sheets (see 3.2.1) shall be tightly rolled and securely tied or bonded to prevent un- rolling. Each roll shall be wrapped with not less than two thicknesses of 60-pound minimum weight kraft paper conforming to UU-P-268 and secured wit
