33、il-off photocontrol: A photocontrol designed such that the load remains off when the most likely failure occurs. 3.2 fail-on photocontrol: A photocontrol designed such that the load remains on when the most likely failure occurs. 3.3 fast acting photocontrol: Turn-off and/or turn-on response time is

35、(density) normal to a horizontal plane. 3.6 instant acting photocontrol: Turn-off and/or turn-on response time is less than 0.5 seconds. 3.7 inverse ratio photocontrol: A photocontrol with the turn-off value lower than the turn-on value. 3.8 maximum surge energy absorbed (for rating purposes only):

36、The maximum allowable surge energy that the photocontrol can absorb without changing its operating characteristics. This is based on a single 10 x 1000 s current waveform. 3.9 non-shorting cap: A device that provides an open circuit between line and load when a photocontrol is not used (also called

37、an open cap). 3.10 part night photocontrol: A photocontrol that turns the load off for some portion of a night in accordance with one or more of the following options: 3.10.1 fixed time photocontrol: A photocontrol that turns the load on at dusk and off at a time interval (X) that is either factory

38、preprogrammed or determined by a user operated selector device on the photocontrol. 3.10.2 real clock time photocontrol: A photocontrol that incorporates an integral time clock and turns on a load at dusk and off at a real clock time (C) determined by a user operated selector device on the photocont

40、trol: A photocontrol that operates as described in 3.10.1, 3.10.2, or 3.10.3 (X, C, or Night) and then turns the load on for a specific clock time (AM) or after a specific time interval (TI) up until dawn, where the load is then turned off. 3.11 part year photocontrol: A photocontrol that turns the

41、load on at dusk and off at dawn, but can be programmed by the factory or by user operated selector devices on the photocontrol to turn the load entirely off for selected time periods i.e., days, weeks, months, seasons, etc. 3.12 plug: A cluster of blades fixed to a photocontrol, shorting cap, or non

42、-shorting cap to establish an electrical and mechanical connection when inserted into a mating receptacle. 3.13 plug-receptacle interface temperature: The temperature at the top of the receptacle, between the line and the load contacts, with a control mounted in a horizontally oriented receptacle in

43、 an ambient temperature of 25C. 3.14 receptacle: An outlet that is intended to be equipped electrically and mechanically to receive the plug. 3.15 shorting cap: A device that provides a closed circuit between line and load when a photocontrol is not used. 3.16 slow acting photocontrol: Turn-off and/

44、or turn-on response time of greater than 5.0 seconds. 3.17 surge current: The peak current in Figure 13 of ANSI/IEEE C62.41 based on 8/20 s discharge current waveform. The response time is measured at 25C and rated voltage. 3.21 turn-off/turn-on ratio: The turn-off light level divided by the turn-on light level. 3.22 upward sensing type photocontrol: A photocontrol designed such that its primary sensitivity is to horizontal illuminance. 3.23 verti

48、cal illuminance (VI): Luminous flux per unit area (density) normal to a vertical plane. 4 Mechanical Requirements 4.1 Plug Type The plug used in the photocontrol, shorting cap, or non-shorting cap shall be of the 3-pole, locking type. Its configuration, blades, and limiting dimensions shall be in ac

49、cordance with Figure 1. 4.2 Receptacle Type The receptacle shall be of the 3-pole, 3-wire locking type. Its configuration, contacts, and limiting dimensions shall be in accordance with Figure 2. 4.3 Sealing A sealing means shall be provided as part of the photocontrol, shorting cap, or non-shorting cap to form a raintight seal on the required seat of the receptacle. The required seat of the receptacle, shown in Figure 3(b), shall be a smooth flat surface. With the photocontrol, shorting cap, or non-shorting cap installed in its locking position, the sealing
