19、duct identification system in all types of business communications media (verbal, written, bar code and Electronic Data Interchange EDI). The product identification system presented in this document is based on the UPC system. The UPC system provides for an eleven digit character string. The string

20、consists of a six digit manufacturers number assigned by the Uniform Code Council plus a five digit item identifier assigned by the manufacturer. These eleven digits uniquely identify a manufacturers product. Depending on the specific bar code system to be used, this number may be preceded by additi

With the growing use of the UPC numbering system in the industry and the desire for item identification, it became apparent that in order to serve the needs of customers of the electrical industry, some type of standardization of the five digit item iden

The numbering scheme set forth in this publication was established by the Steel Rigid Conduit and EMT Section of NEMA and is intended to fulfill the need for unique identification of the manufacturer as well as the need for uniform item identifi

As indicated above, the first six digits in the UPC code are the manufacturer identification number. Upon application and payment of the appro
