13、ster resin (GRP). Amdt 1 NOTE a) The standards referred to in this part of the specification are listed in appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in appendix B. c) Notes on points of importance to the supplier and to the installer in connection with the instal

14、lation and fitting of baths are given in appendix C. d) Information regarding the verification of the quality of acrylic baths produced to this part of the specification, and a sampling plan that could be used to assess compliance with this part of the specification of a lot of acrylic baths, are gi

15、ven in appendix D. e) Arrangements for obtaining a suitable acrylic sheet sample for the tests given in 5.3 5.5 (see also 5.2) require special agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. Amdt 2 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply:

16、acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 2 acrylic material material based on a polymer made with acrylic acid or a structural derivative of acrylic acid, or their copolymers with other monomers, the acry

17、lic monomer(s) being in the greatest amount by mass effective length and width of a bath a) in the case of an oblong bath of shape other than rectangular: The nearest equivalents to the actual length and width of a rectangular bath (see figure 1 and figure 4(a) Amdt 1 b) in the case of a circular ba

19、ch lines (see figure 4(c) Amdt 1 d) in the case of a square or polygonal bath: The nearest equivalent dimensions to the mutually perpendicular diameters of a circular bath (if applicable, the diameters being those of the circle in which the bath shape can be inscribed) integrally mounted fittings fi

20、ttings incorporated in the bath by the manufacturer 3 Requirements 3.1 Material 3.1.1 Acrylic material Acrylic material used in the manufacture of a bath shall be a cross-linked cast acrylic sheet of a quality and grade regarded by the manufacturer of the polymer as suitable for the purpose and shal

21、l comply with the following requirements: a) Softening point. The 110Vicat softening point of the acrylic sheet, determined in accordance with 5.3, shall be not lower than 105 C. b) Thermal stability and linear shrinkage. When tested in accordance with 5.4, the acrylic sheet shall show no evidence o

22、f bubbling or blistering and the linear shrinkage shall not exceed 3 %. c) Temperature of deflection under load. The temperature of deflection of the acrylic sheet under a bending stress of 1,8 MPa, determined in accordance with 5.5, shall be at least 88 C. d) Tensile strength. The tensile strength

23、of the acrylic sheet, determined in accordance with 5.6, shall be at least 82 MPa. e) Colour. The acrylic material shall be white or coloured and, in the case of coloured material, the colour shall be an acceptable match to the required colour. The pigments or colorants shall have been incorporated

24、in the course of manufacture of the sheet, and the colour shall be uniform throughout. 3.1.2 GRP reinforcement GRP reinforcement shall consist of a layer of good quality polyester resin thoroughly impregnated into the glass-fibre reinforcement and properly cured. The glass fibre shall be of a grade

25、and quality regarded by the manufacturer of the glass fibre as suitable for this type of application. 3.2 Design and construction 3.2.1 General A bath shall have been produced from acrylic sheet and reinforced with a layer of GRP over the entire underside area. The reinforcing layer shall be positiv

26、ely bonded to the acrylic sheet over the entire interface. SANS 1402-1:2008 Edition 1.2 5 Stiffening members, normally metal or wooden rods, may be used to provide additional support in the base and flange areas of the bath. Where such support is incorporated as a permanent structural feature betwee

27、n the acrylic sheet and the GRP layer of a bath, the GRP layer shall envelop the stiffening members closely and shall adhere positively to them. Amdt 1 The bath shall be of sufficient rigidity to ensure compliance with all the other relevant requirements of this part of the specification. Unless the

28、y are intrinsically corrosion resistant, any exposed ferrous materials used in structural components or fittings shall be acceptably protected from corrosion. 3.2.2 GRP reinforcement coverage The glass content per unit area of GRP reinforcement, determined in accordance with 5.7, shall be at least 0

29、,3 kg/m2, and the distribution of the glass fibre shall be in accordance with good commercial practice. Amdt 1 3.2.3 Shape and nominal overall dimensions The shape and nominal overall dimensions of a bath shall be as required and, in the case of a bath of generally rectangular shape, the nominal ove

30、rall dimensions shall preferably be within the following ranges: Length: 1 400 1 835 mmWidth: 675 1 000 mmDepth: 370 412 mmWhen determined in accordance with 5.8, no actual overall dimension shall differ from the nominal value by more than 10 mm. 3.2.4 Drainage Each recess (e.g. soap recess or handg

31、rip recess) and each flange shall have a continuous fall to the inside of the bath and the bottom of the bath shall have a continuous fall to the waste outlet. 3.2.5 Openings Openings in a bath shall have smooth sides and edges, free from chips, cracks and other imperfections. The shape and dimensio

32、ns of all openings intended for the connection or attachment of fittings (e.g. tap holes, waste outlet or overflow holes) shall, unless otherwise required, be at the discretion of the manufacturer and suitable for the installation of standard fittings. 3.2.6 Integrally mounted fittings All such fitt

33、ings shall be securely attached and the joint between a fitting and the bath shall be watertight. 3.2.7 Finish The surface of the acrylic material of a bath shall be acceptably free from visible cracks, crazes, voids, blisters, abrasions and scratches. There shall be no chipped spots, inclusions of

34、dirt or other foreign matter, moulding defects or any other imperfections that may impair the appearance or the serviceability (or both) of the bath. SANS 1402-1:2008 Edition 1.2 6 3.3 Performance 3.3.1 Structural rigidity When a bath is tested in accordance with 5.9, the maximum deflection shall no

35、t exceed 12 mm and the residual deflection shall not exceed 1 mm. Amdt 1 3.3.2 Resistance of bath material around a fitting to deformation or damage under torque or deflection When a bath is tested in accordance with 5.10, there shall be no sign of damage or deformation in the bath material at or ne

36、ar any fitting. This requirement applies to the bath material around all holes for fittings. 3.3.3 Resistance to thermal cycling When a bath is tested in accordance with 5.11, a) the bath material shall be free from any distortion that is detectable by both sight and touch; b) no delamination of the

37、 GRP reinforcement from the acrylic sheet shall occur; c) any change in depth, length (or effective length) or width (or effective width) shall not exceed 5 mm; d) the colour of a coloured bath shall not be visibly affected; and e) there shall be no visible change (e.g. yellowing or darkening) in th

38、e whiteness of a white bath. 3.3.4 Resistance to impact When a bath is tested in accordance with 5.12, a) no individual impact shall result in major failure, i.e. a break or extensive dent in the surface, or substantial delamination of the acrylic sheet from the GRP reinforcement in the impact area;

39、 and b) the number of impacts resulting in minor failures, i.e. failures of the kind referred to in (a) above but on a minor scale (slight surface denting, partial or incipient delamination), shall not exceed 20 % of the total number of impacts in the test. 4 Packing and marking 4.1 Packing Baths sh

40、all be so packed as to prevent their being damaged during normal transportation and storage. 4.2 Marking 4.2.1 Baths Each bath shall bear the following information legibly and indelibly marked on the underside: a) the manufacturers name and trade mark (if any); b) a date code indicating the date of

41、manufacture. SANS 1402-1:2008 Edition 1.2 7 4.2.2 Informative label A label shall be firmly attached to each bath and shall bear, prominently displayed, in at least English, the following notice: Amdt 2 NOTICE TO INSTALLER: PLEASE LEAVE THIS LABEL IN POSITION FOR THE HOUSEHOLDER TO READ Under the no

42、tice, the following warning shall be printed on the label, in at least English, in bold letters of type size at least 8-point: Amdt 2 CAUTION: THE SURFACE OF THIS APPLIANCE MAY BE DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH 1) BURNING CIGARETTES 2) VERY HOT MATERIALS OR OBJECTS 3) SOME SOLVENTS (e.g. CERTAIN CHEMICAL P

43、AINT STRIPPERS, DRY-CLEANING SOLVENTS, NAIL VARNISH REMOVERS) 4) ABRASIVE SCOURING POWDERS AND CLEANSERS IF ACCIDENTAL SCRATCHES, ABRASIONS OR BURNS OCCUR, THE SURFACE MAY BE RESTORED BY GENTLE POLISHING WITH A METAL POLISH NORMAL CLEANING: USE A SOFT CLOTH AND WARM WATER WITH SOAP OR A LIQUID DETER

44、GENT. CLEAN IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE, PREFERABLY WHILE THE BATH IS STILL WARM 5 Inspection and methods of test 5.1 Inspection Visually examine and check each bath taken for inspection for compliance with 4.1 and 4.2 and all the relevant requirements of this part of the specification for which tests to

45、assess compliance are not given in 5.3 - 5.12 (inclusive). 5.2 Test specimens, conditioning and order of testing For the tests given in 5.3 - 5.6, use a sample of acrylic sheet of adequate size and of the same type, quality, thickness and, when relevant, colour and, if possible, from the same batch

46、as that used in the production of the bath specimens used in the other tests. Unless otherwise stated, condition all acrylic sheet specimens and baths for at least 16 h at a temperature of 23 2 C and a relative humidity of 50 5 %, and conduct the tests under these conditions. Use fresh acrylic sheet

47、 specimens for each of the tests given in 5.3 - 5.6. Carry out the tests given in 5.7 - 5.12, in the sequence 5.8 - 5.9 - 5.10 - 5.11 - 5.12 - 5.7, on each bath in the sample. SANS 1402-1:2008 Edition 1.2 8 5.3 Softening point Use ISO 306 for the determination of the 110Vicat softening point, the to

48、tal force applied being 10 1 N, the depth of penetration 0,10 mm and the rate of heating 50 5 C/h. Amdt 2 5.4 Thermal stability and linear shrinkage 5.4.1 Apparatus a) A circulating air oven, maintained at 165 2 C. b) A ruler, marked in 0,5 mm divisions. 5.4.2 Test specimens Two squares of acrylic s

49、heet of side 300 mm. 5.4.3 Procedure Mark each specimen with two fine lines that join the mid-points of opposite sides. On each line make fine gauge marks 50 0,5 mm from each edge of the specimen. Measure, to the nearest 0,5 mm, the distance between each pair of gauge marks on the same line. Hang the specimens in the oven for 1 h, then remove them, allow them to cool to room temperature while suspended freely and recondition them as in 5.2. Then proceed as follows: a) examine the specimens visually for the presence of blisters or bubbles or both; a
