7、dure for testing the accelerated aging of vulcanized rubbers (Air-oven method). 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. SANS 5868 (SABS SM 868), Conditioning of vulcanized rubbers. 3 Apparatus 3.1 An oven of the air-drying type, of such size that
9、the total volume of the test specimens to be aged will not exceed 10 % of the free air space of the oven, and through which air is so circulated as to provide not less than three and not more than ten changes per hour. The oven shall be thermostatically controlled to maintain a temperature of 70 C 1
10、C. 3.2 A thermometer. The oven shall be equipped with a thermometer positioned near the centre of the test specimens to record the actual test temperature. 4 Test specimens Use the specimens of the dimensions and quantity required for subsequent tests and that have been conditioned in accordance wit
11、h SANS 5868. 5 Procedure 5.1 Pre-heat the oven to a temperature of 70 C 1C. Place the test specimens in the oven, so positioning them that they are not in contact with each other, are free from strain, and are freely exposed to air on all sides. 5.2 After 168 h 2 h remove the specimens from the oven, and condition them in accordance with SANS 5868.
