7、d specifies the procedure for testing the ozone resistance of vulcanized rubbers (RAPRA-Hampden method). 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 9、68), Conditioning of vulcanized rubbers. 3 Apparatus 3.1 Ozone generator An ozone generator capable of supplying an ozone concentration of (200 20) parts per hundred million of air to the exposure chamber. The ozonized air shall be free from nitrogen oxides, oil, dust and other contaminants, and sha
10、ll be heated to a temperature of (40 2) C before entering the exposure chamber. 3.2 Exposure chamber A thermostatically controlled chamber maintained at a temperature of (40 2) C, and fitted with equipment for determining the ozone concentration in the chamber. 3.3 Clamps A set of clamps capable of
11、holding specimens at an elongation of 20 %. 3.4 Lens A lens of 10 magnification. SANS 5876:2008 Edition 2 4 4 Preparation of test specimens From each test sample after, when relevant, preparing it in accordance with SANS 5867, cut three straight strips of width not less than 10 mm, thickness (2,0 0,
12、2) mm and length approximately 10 mm, and condition them in accordance with SANS 5868. 5 Procedure 5.1 Place the specimens in the clamps and elongate them by 20 %. 5.2 Coat the edges of the specimens and the ends adjacent to the clamps with an ozone-resistant material such as one based on chlorosulfonated polyethylene. 5.3 Place the specimens in the exposure chamber for 48 h 1 h, then remove them from the chamber and, using the lens, inspect them for any sign of cracks.
