6、g equipment intended to remove odors by the useof ozone generation in hotel rooms while the area is unoccupied.1.2 The equipment is intended for operation in accordance with the manufacturers instructions by trainedservice personnel only.1.3 The equipment shall comply with the applicable requirement

7、s in the Standard for Electrostatic AirCleaners, UL 867, in addition to the requirements contained in this outline.1.4 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this outline, and that involves a risk

8、 of fire, electric shock, orinjury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-productrequirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipatedby the intent of this outline. A product whose features, characteristics

9、, components, materials, or systemsconflict with specific provisions of this outline cannot be judged to comply with this outline. Whereconsidered appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with themethods employed for development, revision, and implementation

10、 of this outline.2 General2.1 Units of measurement2.1.1 If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the second valuemay be only approximate. The first stated value is the requirement.2.2 Terminology2.2.1 The terms equipment, unit, and device as used in these requ

12、eferences2.3.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this outline shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.CONSTRUCTION3 Timers3.1 A timer shall be employed in the equipment and shall have a maximum on time of 60 minutes,

13、andshall not be overridden by a manual switch or the like.3.2 Upon completion of the timer on period, the equipment shall be rendered inoperable until the timeris manually reset.PERFORMANCE4 Ozone Test4.1 A portable unit for commercial use in unoccupied areas shall not produce a concentration of ozo

14、neexceeding 0.8 parts per million by volume during a maximum 60 minute operation period. During theozone decay period immediately following the unit operation period, while the unit is de-energized, theozone decay level shall not exceed 0.3 parts per million by volume after 30 minutes and shall not

15、exceeda time-weighted average of 0.1 parts per million over the next 8 hours, and shall not exceed 0.05 partsper million by volume thereafter when tested as described in 4.2 4.9.4.2 The test is to be conducted in a room having a volume of 3600 4250 cubic feet (97.3 115.0 m3)with a minimum side dimen

16、sion of 15 feet (4.5 m) and a maximum height dimension of 10 feet (30 m)without openings. The test room conditions are to be representative of a typical use hotel room (roomsize, carpeted floor, wall papered walls, bedding, curtains, fabric covered chair, bathroom, towels, closet).4.3 During the tes

17、t, the test room is to be maintained at a temperature of 77 4F (25 2C) and a relativehumidity of 50 5 percent. Prior to the start of this test, the ozone background level is to be measuredwith the unit off. The background level average shall be calculated and subtracted from the maximumozone measure

18、ment during the test.4.4 The unit is to be located in the test room as recommended by the manufacturers instructions.4.5 The ozone monitor sampling tube is to be located 2 inches (50 mm) from the air outlet of the unit andis to point directly into the air stream.4.6 Ozone concentrations are to be mo

19、nitored for 24 hours and recorded. The monitoring time may bereduced if stabilization or ultimate conditions occur prior to 24 hours.4.7 The smoke generated from four (4) smoked cigarettes shall be introduced into the room prior to thetest.DECEMBER 21, 2006 SUBJECT 2187 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT

The entrydoor of the room is to be sealed with tape during the test.4.9 If the device can be energized with any of its fans not f

21、unctioning or with particle filters removed, thetest described in 4.1 4.8 is to be repeated with the various components not operating, or with particlefilters removed.MARKINGS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS5 Informational Markings5.1 The equipment shall be permanently marked with the following statem

22、ents or the equivalent:a) +has not investigated the physiological effects of ozone.(+)Enter the name of the testing laboratory.b) Electronic Deodorizer for use in unoccupied areas only.c) For commercial use only.d) Refer to users manual for Important Safety Instructions before using device.5.2 An ap

23、plication guide shall be marked on the unit to identify the following:a) The intended application,b) The timer and ozone output settings, andc) The acceptable re-entry time for a room to become occupied, dependent upon theapplication.5.3 User controls such as timers, ozone output adjustments, and th

25、 Cautionary Markings6.1 The unit shall be marked with DANGER and the following or the equivalent:Elevated ozone levels exist during operation of unit. If improperly used by unqualifiedpersonnel extended exposure to ozone can result and this can cause eye, nose, throat, andlung irritation. The follow

26、ing guidelines must be followed:a) Set timer, exit room and do not re-enter room until processing time is completed See application guide.b) Do not reset timer in same room.c) Use in a room having a minimum volume of+cubic feet Example: a room havinga floor area of+square feet (+by+feet) with a+foot

27、 high ceiling. Closedoorways and openings to other occupied areas from the room being treated.(+)Dimensions shall be determined from the manufacturers literature and acceptable test results.d) Operate only one unit per room. If more than one unit is operating within the samebuilding, the units must

28、not be used in adjacent rooms, nor in rooms directly acrossfrom each other.6.2 The following marking shall be located adjacent to any markings on the unit regarding maintenanceprocedures which may result in risk of electric shock: CAUTION: Risk of Electrical Shock Disconnectpower before removing cov

29、er.7 Installation and Operating Instructions7.1 The equipment shall be provided with installation and operating instructions. The instructions shallcontain such directions and information that the manufacturer considers necessary for installation,maintenance, and use of the equipment.7.2 A copy of t

30、he manufacturers installation and operating instructions, or equivalent information,intended to accompany the equipment is to be furnished with the sample submitted for investigation.These instructions are to be used as a guide in the examination and test of the product. For this purpose,a printed e

31、dition is not required initially if rough draft instructions or information indicating what theinstructions will include are submitted for review as part of the investigation.7.3 The instructions shall contain IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.7.4 The Important Safety Instructions shall appear before an

32、y other instructions in the manual such asoperation, maintenance, or the like.7.5 The headings for the operation, maintenance, and Important Safety Instructions, and the openingstatements of the instructions, such as IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS and SAVE THESEINSTRUCTIONS, shall be entirely in uppe

The words CAUTION, WARNING,orDANGER shall be entirely in uppercase letters.7.7 The following wording, or the equivalent, shall be provided in the Important Safety Instructions:a) IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSb) SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS This manual contains important safety and opera

35、tinginstructions for the electronic deodorizer.c) The equipment is for use by trained service personnel only.d) For use in unoccupied areas only.e) Not for household use.f) For commercial use only.g) An application guide shall be provided in these instructions to identify the intendedapplication, th

36、e timer and ozone output settings, and the acceptable re-entry time for a room tobecome occupied, dependent upon the application.h) DANGER and the following or the equivalent shall be provided: Elevated ozone levelsexist during operation of unit. Immediately turn the power switch to OFF.iii) 3. Disconnect the power supply cord.iv) 4. Evacuate the treated area and do not r
