3、m description for all federal agencies.1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers spiral wrap tubing intended for useprimarily to protect and insulate electrical wiring.2. CLASSIFICATION. The spiral wrap tubing shall be classified by the following types andclasses. The type and class to
4、 be furnished shall be as specified in the acquisition order (see7.2(b).Type I - PolyethyleneType II - PolyamideType III - PolytetrafluoroethyleneClass 1 - NaturalClass 2 - Weather resistant (Types I and II only)Class 3 - Fire resistant (Type I only)3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS3.1 General requirements
5、. Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.2(c), thetubing shall be furnished in 100 foot rolls. Unless otherwise specified in theacquisition order (see 7.2(f), the spiral wrap shall be clockwise or right-hand pitch.3.1.1 Type I, polyethylene spiral wrap tubing. Type I sp
7、iral wrap tubing shall be made frompolyethylene conforming to Type I of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D 1248,“Standard Specification for Polyethylene Plastics Extrusion Materials for Wire and Cable“ (DoDadopted). Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.2(g), th
8、e color shall be natural.Natural is milky white for class 1, black for class 2 and black or white for class 3. Class 3 spiralwrap tubing shall be certified as meeting V0 or V2 of Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 94, “Tests forFlammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances“ (DoD ad

The wallthickness shall be 0.03 inches minimum for tubing less than or equal to 0.5 inches OD and 0.05inches minimum for tubing greater than 0.5 inches OD.3.1.2 Type II, polyamide spiral wrap tubing. Type II spiral wrap tubing shall be made frompolyamide conforming to group 1, class 1 of AST
10、M D 4066, “Standard Classification Systemfor Nylon Injection and Extrusion Materials (PA)“ (DoD adopted). Unless otherwise specified inthe acquisition order (see 7.2(g), the color shall be natural. Natural is milky white for class 1and black for class 2. The wall thickness shall be 0.015 inches mini
11、mum for tubing less than0.5 inches OD and 0.03 inches minimum for tubing equal to or greater than 0.5 inches OD.3.1.3 Type III, polytetrafluoroethylene spiral wrap tubing. Type III spiral wrap tubing shallbe made from polytetrafluoroethylene conforming to Type 1 of ASTM D 1710, “StandardSpecificatio
12、n for Polytetrafluoroethylene (PFTE) Rod and Heavy-Walled Tubing“ (DoDadopted). Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.2(g), the color shall benatural. Natural is milky white. The wall thickness shall be 0.03 inches minimum for all tubingODs.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS4.1 Recovere
13、d materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal AcquisitionRegulation (FAR).4.2 Environmental protection. The item shall meet all applicable Environmental ProtectionAgency restrictions i
14、n effect on the date of the contract. These regulations apply to the emissionof materials hazardous to the environment or the users health and shall be met during themanufacturing, service, transportation, storage, and operation/use of the item.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS5.1 Product conformanc
15、e. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of thiscommercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards,and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercialmarketplace. The government reserves the rig
16、ht to require proof of such conformance.6. PACKAGING6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking.
