9、ard is part of the series of EN metallic material standards for aerospace applications. The general organization of this series is described in EN 4258. 1 Scope This standard specifies the method to verify, in a fast and qualitative way, the quality level of a braze alloy by examining its appearance
10、 after fusion. This test is applicable to braze alloys used for vacuum or partial pressure brazing. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference provisions from other publications. 14、3. I Material A test plate made of heat resisting alloy or austenitic stainless steel with a minimum size of 70 mm x 70 mm x 1 mm, unless otherwise required by the material standard. Braze alloy under test. Stop-off compound. 3.2 The test plate shall be cleaned by appropriate means to remove any res
15、idual oxidation and grease from its surface. An annulus of 25 mm k 5 mm inner diameter shall be drawn in the centre of the plate using an appropriate stop-off compound. 1,5 g f 0,5 g braze alloy shall be placed inside the stop-off annulus: powder, paste, pieces of wire, tape or foil according to the
16、 alloy form being tested. When powder is to be tested, this shall be mixed, prior to application, with a suitable binder. 18、st sample shall be heated in a vacuum furnace at a pressure lower than 10-1 Pa, in accordance with the following cycle, (see figure 2), unless otherwise required by the material standard. 50 “C above liquidus 30 “C below solidus Figure 2 The heating rate from 30 OC below the solidus to a temperature
19、 50 OC above the liquidus shall be at a rate of between 2 OC/min and 5 OC/min. Cooling rate from the temperature 50 OC above the liquidus to 30 OC below the solidus shall be greater than, or equal to, 10 OC/min. 3.4 Inspection Visual inspection shall be carried out at a magnification of x 10 maximum. 4 Acceptance criteria See EN 3875. 5 Test report See EN 3875.
