(ARINC)and thePurpose of ARINC Reports and SpecificationsAeronautical Radio, Inc., is a c

5、orporation in which the United States scheduled airlinesare the principal stockholders. Other stockholders include a variety of other air transportcompanies, aircraft manufacturers and foreign flag airlines.Activities of ARINC include the operation of an extensive system of domestic andoverseas aero

6、nautical land radio stations, the fulfillment of systems requirements frequencies tomeet those needs, the coordination incident to standard airborne communications and electronicssystems and the exchange of technical information. ARINC sponsors the Airlines ElectronicEngineering Committee (AEEC), co

7、mposed of airline technical personnel. The AEEC formulatesstandards for electronic equipment and systems for the airlines. The establishment of EquipmentCharacteristics is a principal function of this Committee.It is desirable to reference certain general ARINC Specifications or Reports which areapp

8、licable to more thanone type of equipment. These general Specifications or Reports may beconsidered as supplementary to the Equipment Characteristics in which they are referenced. Theyare intended to set forth the desires of the airlines pertaining to components and general design,construction and i

9、nterchangeability in airline service. The release of a Specification orEquipment Characteristic should not be construed to obligate ARINC or any airline insofar asthe purchase of any components or equipment is concerned.An ARINC Report (Specification or Characteristic) has a twofold purpose, which i

38、e advantagesof standardized testing can be realized by air transportoperators, airframe manufacturers and avionics suppliers.The advantages of standardized avionics testing will varyfrom user to user. However, three advantages areuniversal to most users. The first advantage is that theARINC 626 ATLA

39、S test programs are expected to betransportable between Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)without costly and time consuming modifications. This isaccomplished by standardizing the test system softwarewhich translates test programs written in the ARINC 626ATLAS language into an intermediate code. The sec

40、ondadvantage is to minimize the need for dedicated avionicstest systems for each vendors avionics. Large inventoriesof specialized test equipment can be reduced, effectivelyreducing capital expenditures. The third advantage is theease of updating test capability when new inventories ofavionic equipm

41、ent arrive with the purchase of a new typeof aircraft. ATLAS test programs and descriptions ofrequired test equipment for new avionics are supplied bythe vendor and are subsequently loaded into the users teststation. After translating the ARINC 626 ATLAS testprogram and adding required test hardware

42、, the users testsystem is ready for use. This capability extends the lifeof the test system.1.3 ObjectivesThe objectives of this approach include but are not limitedto the following:a. The capability to test, troubleshoot, and performend-to-end testing of the Unit Under Test (UUT).b. The use of ARIN

43、C Specification 626, “StandardATLAS for Modular Test“, as the sourcelanguage for test programs. These test programsshould be transportable across all avionics testsystems.c. The concept will prove to be so practical that, inaddition to the airlines, both avionics andairframe manufacturers will use i

44、t in their owntesting operations.d. The ability to support program development,editing and debugging.e. An architecture which can support any type ofavionics testing. Limitations will be imposedonly by individual implementation.f. The capability to generate executable code whenproperly configured.g.

45、 Transportability of Test Unit Adapters (TUAs)between standardized testers.1.4 GoalsGoals of this specification include the following:a. Development and maintenance of standardizedtest systems software on a shared-cost basis.b. Relative freedom of choice in the selection of aTest Control Computer (T

46、CC) and commercialoperating system.c. To provide an environment for ATLAS testprograms to be developed and maintained in themost economical manner.d. Elimination of the differences between avionicequipment manufacturer test specifications andARINC 626 ATLAS test programs.NOTE: ARINC Report 602A, “Te

47、st EquipmentGuidance“, defines test specifications as purerequirements written in the ATLAS language.Test programs are test specifications that havebeen modified to operate on a specific testsystem.e. To gather data for trend and failure analysis.f. To provide as much flexibility as possible in thes

To be capable of running the SMARTsoftware.1.5 BackgroundThe digital revolution of the 1970s resulted in thetransition to highly integrated avionics packaged in“ARINC 700-series“ boxes. This application of digitaltechnology enabled high-vo

49、lume automatic testing to beachieved. However, as avionics equipment became morecomplex, it introduced complexity in testing. Althoughautomatic testing significantly reduced the amount ofmanpower needed in the actual testing, it contributed toexcessive front-end development costs. Avionicssuppliers, airframe manufacturers and airlines developeddifferent test systems and by necessity developed uniquetest programs to test avionics equipment. In 1984, theavionics maintenance community concluded that theindustry could realize significant cost savings if there werea standard ap
