6、the consensus of manufacturers and others who have pertinent interests in plumbing systems and are acceptable to this organization.For many years, the method of priming traps has been with the use of a water supply trap primer, which is activated by flow in the water supply piping. This method of pr
7、iming utilizes primers that comply with ASSE 1018, Performance Requirements for Trap Seal Primer Valves Potable Water Supplied. This standard addresses alternate methods to ASSE 1018 and addresses trap primers utilizing electric design and drainage-type trap seal primers.Although many of the materia
8、l specifications are detailed within Section 4.1 of this standard, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer and the installer to comply with the relevant jurisdictional requirements.The ASSE 1044 working group, which developed this standard revision, was set up within the framework of the ASSE I

18、piece trap seal primers shall consist of a 1 inch (32 mm) or larger tailpiece or trap assembly that is designed to connect to a supply tube that drains to the floor drain trap inlet.1.2.9 Ballcock Trap Seal PrimersBallcock trap seal primers shall consist of a refill tube diversion mechanism, a close
19、 coupled tank bolt/drain assembly, and related fittings for connection to the closet tank and ballcock. The diversion refill tube assembly shall be fitted with clear vinyl tubing, not less than inch (6.4 mm) inside diameter from the point of connection to the check member, a inch (6.4 mm) tee fittin
20、g, a check valve and a flow restrictor. Connections from the outlet of the close coupled tank connector tube shall not be less than inch (9.5 mm) outside diameter.1.2.9.1 Ballcock trap seal primer shall be used in conjunction with anti-siphon fill valves complying with ASSE 1002.1.2.10 Flushometer T

The testing agency shall select one (1) of each type or model and size for the full test. Tests shall be performed in the order listed
29、 on one (1) trap seal primer of each size submitted.2.2 DrawingsAssembly and installation drawings, and any other data that is needed to enable a testing agency to determine compliance with this standard shall accompany the trap seal primer when submitted for examination and performance testing unde
30、r this standard.2.3 RejectionFailure of one (1) trap seal primer shall result in a rejection of that type or model.Trap Seal Primer Drainage Types and Electric Design Types 5ASSE Standard #1044-2015Section III3.0 Performance Requirements and Compliance Testing3.1 Hydrostatic Test for Electric Type3.
31、1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to evaluate high-pressure trap seal primers for hydrostatic integrity.3.1.2 ProcedureThe trap seal primer shall be connected to a water source that is capable of achieving 125.0 psi (861.8 kPa) or two (2) times the manufacturers maximum rated working pressure,
32、whichever is greater. Circulate water through the trap seal primer to purge the air. All outlets from the trap seal primer shall be sealed (the manufacturer shall be permitted to provide components to facilitate sealing of the outlets). The trap seal primer shall be pressurized to 125.0 psi (861.8 k
33、Pa) or two (2) times the manufacturers maximum rated working pressure, whichever is greater, for a period of 5 minutes. 3.1.3 CriteriaAny indication of external leakage shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer.3.2 Verification of Manufacturers Performance Rating3.2.1 PurposeThe purpose of
34、 this test is to verify the flow rates as provided by the manufacturer.3.2.2 ProcedureThe manufacturer shall furnish the minimum discharge rate of flow through the supply line.3.2.2.1 Procedure for Fixture Tailpiece Trap Seal Primer The manufacturer shall specify the discharge rates over a period of
35、 1 minute through the primer line for faucet flow rates of 0.5 GPM (1.9 L/min) and 2.5 GPM (9.5 L/min) at 20.0 psi (138 kPa) pressure.Five (5) tests shall be run for a period of 1 minute each using a faucet with a flow rate of 0.5 GPM (1.9 L/min) at a pressure of 20.0 psi (138 kPa).A grid strainer s
36、hall be installed upstream of the primer. The volume of water collected by each test shall be recorded.3.2.2.2 CriteriaFailure to meet the manufacturers specified ratings on each test shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer.3.2.2.3 Procedure for Ballcock Trap Seal Primer The trap seal pr
37、imer shall be installed, in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, in the tank of a 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf) (4.8 Lpf) closed coupled water closet. Water shall be added to the bowl and the water level shall then be marked with non-water soluble ink or marker. The tank shall be filled an
38、d the ballcock shall be operated at a static pressure of 40.0 psi (276 kPa) for a series of twenty (20) flushes. Repeat the test at a flowing pressure of 8.0 psi (55 kPa) for a series of twenty (20) flushes.6 Trap Seal Primer Drainage Types and Electric Design Types ASSE Standard #1044-20153.2.2.4 C
39、riteriaAny leakage from the tank bolt connection shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer. Failure of the trap seal primer to demonstrate the minimum rated flow per Section 3.2.2 through the primer tube at either pressure shall result in rejection of the trap seal primer. Failure of the w
40、ater closet to reseal to full trap seal depth after each flush shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer.3.2.2.5 Procedure for Flushometer Tailpiece/Trap Seal Primer The trap seal primer shall be installed between a 1.28 gpf (4.8 Lpf) flushometer valve and a water closet bowl in accordance
41、 with manufacturers instructions. The assembly shall be operated at a flowing pressure of 50.0 psi (345 kPa) for a series of twenty (20) flushes.3.2.2.6 CriteriaAny indication of leakage from any connection shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer. Failure to achieve the minimum rated flo
42、w per Section 3.2.2 through the primer drain tube, per flush, shall result in rejection of the trap seal primer.3.2.2.7 Procedure for Electric Trap Seal PrimerThe trap seal primer shall be installed per the manufacturers instructions. A water supply shall be connected to the inlet and the trap seal
43、primer shall be pressurized to the manufacturers rated working pressure. The cycle “on” time shall be set to the lowest adjustable setting permitted on the device. The trap seal primer shall be activated for a period of five (5) cycles and the discharge from each outlet shall be measured.3.2.2.8 Cri
44、teriaFailure to achieve a minimum of 2.0 ounces (59 ml) per outlet during any test shall result in rejection of the trap seal primer.3.3 Cycle Test for Electric Trap Seal Primer3.3.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine any deterioration of performance upon completion of five thousand (5,
45、000) cycles.3.3.2 ProcedureThe trap primer seal shall be installed per the manufacturers instructions. A water supply shall be connected to the inlet and shall be pressurized to 50.0 psi (345 kPa). A method shall be employed to activate the trap seal primer for a period of five thousand (5,000) cycl
46、es. Each cycle shall consist of the manufacturers “on” cycle time, then 5 seconds off.3.3.3 CriteriaAny indications of failure or leakage during the cycle test shall result in a rejection of the trap seal primer.Trap Seal Primer Drainage Types and Electric Design Types 7ASSE Standard #1044-2015Secti
47、on IV4.0 Detailed Requirements4.1 Materials4.1.1 Solder and FluxesSolder and fluxes containing lead in excess of 0.2% shall not be used in contact with potable water. 4.1.2 Corrosion of Interior PartsAll metal parts, except springs, in contact with water shall have a corrosion resistance at least eq
48、ual to a copper alloy of not less than 58% copper.4.1.3 SpringsSprings in contact with water shall have a corrosion resistance at least equal to 300-series stainless steel.4.1.4 Elastomeric PartsDiaphragms, valve discs, seating facings or other flexible non-metallic parts shall be designed for conti
49、nuous exposure to water at the manufacturers maximum rated operating temperature of the trap seal primer without change in physical characteristics that would prevent full compliance with all requirements of this standard.4.2 Documentation4.2.1 Installation and MaintenanceFull instructions for proper installation and maintenance shall be packaged with the trap seal primer. The instructions shall include data to guide the installer in order to select the appropriate amount of water required for the designs of the mati
