5、es for Individual Supply FittingsASSE Standard #1062 - 2006This foreword shall not be considered a part of the standard; however it is offered to providebackground information.Exposure to high temperature water can result in serious injuries. This problem has beenpublicized by consumer safety organi

6、zations and is addressed in the ASTM F444-88 StandardConsumer Specification for Scald-Preventing Devices and Systems in Bath Areas.This standard covers point of use, temperature actuated, flow reduction (TAFR) valves that areinstalled in-line with or that are integrated into supply fittings. These v

7、alves automaticallyreduce discharge flow to a trickle if water temperature exceeds a preset limit. Other ASSEstandards such as ASSE 1016, ASSE 1017, ASSE 1066, ASSE 1069 and ASSE 1070 havebeen developed for hot and cold water mixing valves that limit discharge temperature and in-line pressure balanc

8、ing valves that minimize pressure variations between the hot and coldwater supplies. TAFR valves are not intended to be installed in place of devices complying withASSE 1016, ASSE 1017, ASSE 1066, ASSE 1069 or ASSE 1070. ASSE recommends thatTAFR valves be installed in accordance with local code requ

9、irements by qualified individuals.Recognition is made of the time volunteered by the working group members who participatedin the revision process, and for the support of the manufacturers.This standard does not imply ASSEs endorsement of a product which conforms to theserequirements.Compliance with

19、n I1.0 General1.1 ApplicationThis standard applies to Temperature Actuated, Flow Reduction (TAFR) Valves for IndividualSupply Fittings (herein referred to as the “device”) which react to high temperature water. Thesevalves are intended for use in-line with or are integrated into individual plumbing

20、supply fittingssuch as shower heads, bath and utility faucets and sink and lavatory faucets.When intended for use by people with disabilities, TAFR valves covered by this standard shall alsocomply with ICC/ANSI Standard A117.1.1.2 Scope1.2.1 DescriptionDevices covered by this standard shall be mecha

21、nically or electrically operated, and shall beinstalled in-line with or integrated into supply fittings. These devices shall automatically reduce flowwithin five (5) seconds to 0.25 GPM (0.95 L/m) or less at 80.0 psi (551.6 kPa) in response to outlettemperatures greater than a preset actuation tempe

22、rature not to exceed 120.0 F (48.9 C) so asto limit exposure to high temperature water discharged from an individual supply fitting.After actuation, the reset open temperature shall not be less than 90.0 F (32.2 C); and shall resetopen automatically or with the use of a manual reset mechanism.1.2.2

23、Size RangeSizes of the devices covered by this standard shall be 1 inch NPS (25 DN) or smaller.1.2.3 Flow Rates Before Actuationa) When the device is integrated into a supply fitting, the flow rate of the assembly prior toactuation shall be in accordance with ASME A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-2005.b) F

24、or devices not integrated into a supply fitting, but that are to be used with a supply fitting thathas a specified minimum flow rate in the ASME A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-2005, theminimum flow rate prior to actuation shall be at least 0.5 GPM (1.9 L/min) greater than theapplicable ASME A112.18.1-200

25、5/CSA B125.1-2005 requirement. If the device is to be usedwith a supply fitting that has a specified maximum flow, no other maximum flow requirementshall be necessary unless the device is used to limit flow.Temperature Actuated Flow Reduction (TARF) Valves for Individual Supply Fittings 11.2.4 Press

26、ure RangeThe devices operating pressure range shall be 10.0 to 80.0 psi (69.0 to 551.6 kPa). The workingpressure range shall be 10.0 to 125.0 psi (69.0 to 861.9 kPa).1.2.5 Temperature RangeThe devices working temperature range shall be 37.0 F to 180.0 F (2.8 C to 82.2 C).1.3 Reference StandardsRefer

29、e submitted by the manufacturer.2.2 Samples TestedThe testing agency shall select one (1) of each size and model for the full test. Tests shall beperformed in the order listed.2.3 DrawingsAssembly and installation drawings and other data which are needed to enable a testing agencyto determine compli

30、ance with this standard shall accompany devices when submitted forexamination and performance testing under this standard.2.4 RejectionFailure of one (1) device shall result in a rejection of that size and model.Temperature Actuated Flow Reduction (TARF) Valves for Individual Supply Fittings 3ASSE S

31、tandard #1062 - 2006Section III3.0 Performance Requirements and Compliance Testing3.1 Working Pressure Test3.1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine that the device, when subjected to a working pressure of250.0 psi (1723.8 kPa) or two (2) times the manufacturers maximum rated working pre

32、ssure,whichever is greater, shall show no leaks or indications of damage.3.1.2 ProcedureInstall the device in a test setup in accordance with Figure 1. Slowly open the throttling valve toinitiate a flow of cold water at 50.0 F 10.0 F (10.0 C 5.5 C) to purge the system of air. Closethe throttling val

33、ve and gradually increase the pressure on the devices inlet to 250.0 psi 10.0psi (1723.8 69.0 kPa) or two times the manufacturers maximum rated working pressure,whichever is greater. Maintain that pressure for a period of one and one-half (1) minutes andobserve for external leakage. Release the pres

34、sure and visually inspect the device for damage.Figure 13.1.3 CriteriaAny indication of leakage or evidence of damage that would prevent full compliance with theremaining sections of this standard shall result in a rejection of the device.Note:1. Accuracy of pressure measurements shall be in accorda

35、nce with the requirements of ASME PTC 19.2 or19.5 as applicable.2. Accuracy of temperature measurement shall be within 2.0 F (1.1 C) and the response time of thethermocouple shall be one (1) second or less.3. Accuracy of the thermocouple and associated measurement equipment shall be within 1.0 F (0.

38、Extremes of ManufacturersTemperature and Pressure3.2.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine that the device will withstand water at a temperature of200.0 F 5.0 F (93.3 C 2.8 C) without damage or impairment of performance capabilities.3.2.2 ProcedureInstall the device in a test set-up in a

39、ccordance with Figure 1. Fully open the throttling valve, andthen slowly open the supply valve to flow water through the device to purge the system of air.Increase the water temperature until the device actuates closed to the reduced flow position. Whilethe device is still in the reduced flow positi

40、on, adjust the water pressure to 125.0 psi 5.0 psi (861.9kPa 34.5 kPa) and increase the water temperature to 200.0 F 5.0 F (93.3 C 2.8 C) fora period of 30 minutes 3 minutes. Observe for external leakage. Release the pressure, allow thedevice to cool, and visually inspect for damage.3.2.3 CriteriaAn

41、y indication of leakage or evidence of damage that would prevent full compliance with theremaining sections of this standard shall result in a rejection of the device.3.3 Flow Rate Test3.3.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine the flow rates of the device.3.3.2 ProcedureInstall the devic

42、e into a test setup in accordance with Figure 2. The maximum linear run is notapplicable for this test.a) For devices integrated into supply fittings, initiate a flow of water at 104.0 F 5.0 F (40.0 C 2.8 C) through the device. Adjust the inlet pressure at the pressure gauge in accordancewith the AS

43、ME A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-2005 requirements. Allow the flow to stabilizeand record the flow rate.b) For devices not integrated into a supply fitting, initiate flow of water at 104.0 F 5.0 F (40.0C 2.8 C) through the device. Adjust the inlet pressure at the pressure gauge in accordancewith the ASM

44、E A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-2005 requirements. 46、t in arejection of the device.3.4 Flow Reduction and Reset Test3.4.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine that the device automatically reduces the discharge flowwhen the inlet water supply temperature exceeds 120.0 F (48.9 C) and automatically resets orcan be manually reset after the inl

47、et temperature has decreased to 90 F +5.0 F/-0.0 F (32.2 C+2.8 C/-0.0 C).Note:1. Test system piping and components shall match the test valve.2. Accuracy of pressure and flow measurements shall be in accordance with the requirements of ASME PTC19.2 or 19.5 as applicable.3. Accuracy of the thermocoup
