2、equirements presented in ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2016, regarding the definition of Kitchenette and Break Room. Background: Where can we find ASHRAEs definition of a Kitchenette and Break Room? Under ASHRAE 62.12016 Break Rooms and Coffee Stations fall under Table 6.2.2.1 and are considered Class 1
3、 spaces, compared to Kitchenettes that fall under Table 6.5 and are considered Class 2, requiring exhaust. Has the difference between a Kitchenette and Break Room been the topic of and published in any previous ASHRAE Journals? In the absence of any other clarification, it is assumed that to be clas
4、sified as a Kitchenette, the space must be used for food preparation/light cooking which includes the production of steam and odors, generated primarily through the use of a residential style stove and/or oven; i.e., if a stove and/or oven is present, the space is considered a Kitchenette. Microwaves and refrigerators can be located in break rooms. Interpretation: To be defined as a Kitchenette the space must include a stove and/or oven. Break rooms can include microwaves and refrigerators. Question: Is this interpretation correct? Answer: Yes.
