21、o pur-pose, scope, and definitions. Updates to the traceability for cal-ibration of test instruments were brought in alignment withother related standards, and test instruments in Section 4 wereupdated to current models. References to an alternative methodof airflow in Normative Annex B were added t

22、o Section 5. Newmaterial was added to Section 9 to update and clarify methodsfor testing exposed and concealed fan coils for total sound, aswell as methods to measure sound paths for discharge andradiated sound. An alternate method of airflow measurementwas added to Normative Annex B. Two new annexe

23、s, Informa-tive Annex C, “Alternate Mixing-Tube Reference Dimensions,”and Informative Annex D, “Examples of Various Types ofExposed and Concealed Fan Coils” were included. Figureswere updated to improve resolution and clarity, and new fig-ures were added. In addition, minor editorial changes weremad

24、e, along with updates to normative references. This revision of ASHRAE Standard 79 falls under the Stan-dard Committee classification of “standard method of mea-surement.” This standard was prepared under the auspices ofASHRAE. It may be used, in whole or in part, by association orgovernment agency

25、with due credit to ASHRAE. Adherence isstrictly on a voluntary basis and merely in the interests ofobtaining uniform standards throughout the industry.1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE1.1 Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to prescribe lab-oratory methods of testing fan-coil units to ensure uniformperforma

26、nce data for establishing ratings.1.2 Scope. DEFINITIONSequilibrium: for the purposes of this standard, a steady-statecondition during which the fluctuations of variables beingmeasured remain within the test tolerances given in Table 1for 30 minute

28、s.evaporative equilibrium: the condition attained on a humiditymeasuring instrument when the humidity measurement hasreached a stable and constant temperature.external static pressure: the sum of the absolute values of thedischarge static gage pressure and the inlet static gage pres-sure.fan-coil un

29、it: a factory-made assembly that provides air cir-culation caused by a difference in static pressure produced byan air-moving device, cooling or cooling and heating, and fil-tering of air, but does not include the source of cooling orheating. fpm: feet per minute expressed in terms of velocityinstru

43、(BIPM) if a National Metrology Insti-tute (NMI) other than NIST is used. Instruments shall be reca-librated on a regular schedule that is appropriate for eachinstrument, and calibration records shall be maintained. Allinstruments shall be applied in a manner that ensures compli-ance with the accurac

44、y specified for the test. 4. TEST INSTRUMENTS4.1 Temperature Measuring Instruments. Temperaturemeasuring instruments shall meet the requirements ofASHRAE Standard 41.11.4.1.1 Accuracy and precision of the temperature measuringinstruments shall be within the limits shown in Table 3.4.1.2 Scale Divisi

45、on. In no case shall the smallest scale divi-sion of the temperature measuring instrument exceed twice thespecified precision.4.1.3 Air Temperature4.1.3.1 Dry Bulb and Wet Bulb. Dry-bulb and wet-bulbtemperatures shall be read only under conditions that ensure anair velocity between 700 fpm (3.5 m/s)

46、 and 1000 fpm (5 m/s)over the wet bulb and only after sufficient time has beenallowed for equilibrium to be attained. The wick on the wet-bulb thermometer shall be clean, fit the thermometer tightly,and be moistened by distilled water. Wet-bulb thermometersshall always be downstream of dry-bulb ther

47、mometers.4.1.3.2 Water Temperature. Water temperature withinpipes may be measured by inserting the temperature measur-ing instrument directly into the water parallel to and againstthe flow. An acceptable alternate method of water temperaturemeasurement is with a liquid-filled well inserted into the

48、pipe. 4.1.3.3 Interchangeability of Instruments. Whereverpossible, temperature measuring instruments used to measurethe change in temperature of water or air shall be arranged sothat they can readily be interchanged between inlet and outletpositions after every reading, so as to improve accuracy.4.2

49、 Pressure Measurement4.2.1 Pressure measuring instruments shall meet therequirements of ASHRAE Standard 41.32and the followingsubsections.4.2.2 Accuracy and precision of the air-pressure measuringinstruments shall be at least or better than 1% of full scale.4.2.2.1 Scale Division. In no case shall the smallest-scaledivision of the pressure measuring instrument exceed thespecified precision.4.2.3 Accuracy and precision of the water-pressure m
