11、was origi-nally under the sponsorship of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). It wassubsequently reorganized as an ASME Standards Committee and its title was changed to HandTools and Accessories. In 1996, the Committees scope was expanded to include safetyconsiderations.The purpose o

12、f B107.300 is to define essential performance and safety requirements for thefollowing three types of torque instruments:(a) manually operated torque instruments, commonly used for mechanical measurement oftorque for control of the tightness of threaded fasteners(b) electronic torque testers used fo

13、r checking manually operated hand-held torque wrenchesand screwdrivers(c) manually operated electronic torque instruments with integral or interchangeable headsIt includes requirements for endurance, torque value ranges, and accuracy for these torqueinstruments. It specifies test methods to evaluate

14、 performance related to the defined requirementsand safety, and indicates limitations of safe use.This Standard may also be used as a guide by state authorities or other regulatory bodies inthe formulation of laws or regulations. It is also intended for voluntary use by establishmentsthat use or man

15、ufacture the instruments covered.This Standard includes(a) B107.14, Hand Torque Tools (Mechanical), approved by the American National StandardsInstitute on December 16, 2004(b) B107.28, Electronic Torque Instruments, approved by the American National StandardsInstitute on March 14, 2005(c) B107.29,

16、Electronic Tester, Hand Torque Tools, approved by the American National StandardsInstitute on March 16, 2005Prior editions of these individual standards are obsolete and no longer available.In addition to the consolidation of these individual torque standards into this Standard, principalchanges are

17、 the uniform inclusion of performance requirements and test methods that evaluateboth performance and safety as well as uniform format for sections on definitions, references,performance requirements, tests, and safety requirements and limitations of use.Members of the Hand Tools Institute Torque In

42、eor purchase of other forms of torque instruments con-forming to this Standard.Torque Instruments shall pass all applicable tests insection 6.5.1 Design5.1.1 Type I, Classes A, B, C, and D Indicating(a) Operation. Instruments shall indicate torqueapplied through a deflecting member. They shall opera

43、tein both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.(1)TypeI,ClassesAandBDeflectingBeam. Flexingof a cantilever beam connecting the square drive andthe hand grip shall provide the basis of operation. Type I,Class A deflecting beam torque instruments may be sim-ilar to that shown in Fig. 1. Type I, C

44、lass B deflectingbeam torque instruments may be similar to that shownin Fig. 2.(2) Type I, Classes C and D Rigid Housing. Thedeflecting member and dial mechanism shall beenclosed within the rigid housing. The pointer and dialface shall be protected by a transparent cover whichshall be so located and

45、 constructed as to be reasonablyfree from accidental damage resulting from being struckor abraded. Type I, Class C rigid housing torque instru-ments may be similar to that shown in Fig. 3. Type I,Class D rigid housing torque instruments may be similarto that shown in Fig. 4.(3) Type I, Classes B and

46、 D Interchangeable HeadConnection. The torque instrument shall be equippedwith a connection, suitable for accepting a variety ofmating wrenching heads. 47、e designed so that the require-ments of para. 5.8 are met throughout the specified accu-racy range. The wrenching heads shall comply with therequirements of para. 5.5. Indicating torque instrumentswith an interchangeable head may be similar to Fig. 2(Class B) or Fig. 4 (Class D).(b) Indicator. A dia

48、l or scale shall be located to permitconvenient and accurate reading. The graduation marksshall be colored and shaped to be distinct and easilyread. The width of the graduation mark shall not begreater than one-half the adjacent space width. Thewidth of the pointer tip or indicator line shall not be

49、greater than the widest graduation mark, nor shall thepointer completely cover any graduation mark on theouter scale. The pointer shall be located close to thescale face so as to meet the parallax error requirementsof para 6.2.(c) Hand Position. If, in order to achieve the requiredaccuracy, it is necessary to apply the load at a specificpoint on the hand grip, the hand grip shall be pivotedat that point.(d) Auxiliary Functions. Additional features may beincorporated on the torque instrument to improve accu-racy or usefulness. The inclusion of such features shallnot be cause for re
